Our reception on arrival left a lot to be desired. The outside temperature was cool for the time of year but the inside was decidedly frosty. But it didn't spoil our visit to York, the city is beautilful and is definitely on our list for a return visit next time we come to the uk.

Good location about 15 minute walk to the Minster. Very reasonably priced for York centre. Breakfast was ok, nothing special. Parking was free on the road infront of the property. Rooms were relatively quiet. Room was a little small and the bathroom equally so. I thought it was strange not to meet the landlord/lady throughout the stay although provision was left to self check in. Payment could only be made in cash/cheque, again I thought it strange to leave payment with the breakfast waitress. Check out rather early 10am. Breakfast also rather limited between 8.30 and 9.30. Im not sure that the 4 star rating is correct and is probably more like 3 star and the relatively cheap price reflects this.

A townhouse (houses all attached in a row) converted to a guesthouse on 3 floors, with breakfast room, in a street within 10 minutes walking distance to York town centre - clean and friendly, safe surroundings, reasonably affordable, and convenient if taking classes at York St John university. Many other smaller and cheaper guesthouses next door but not on booking.com It was fine in all regards.

Location as within walking distance of York city centre. The room we was given was in the roof area and therefore height restrictions and we found it very hot and stuffy with only roof window to open, so no scenery.

The staff were very helpful and left clear instructions for when reception was not manned. The breakfasts were excellent and beautifully cooked. The rooms were clean and well kept. I stayed in the single room and knew I would have to share a toilet but the toilet was very clean at all times. The only consideration -and it was not a problem for me -was that the toilet for my room was down a flight of stairs which might put off some. Next time I will book a twin room that had an en-suite to save guests from having to see me wandering in my not so great nightie! I'd definitely stay there again.

Bootham City Centre Guest House is a modern well equipped guest house more akin to a boutique hotel. The rooms are clean, comfortable, well equipped and the style of the rooms is light and modern. The staff are welcoming and friendly and extreemly helpfull in offering advice (and directions) on the popular tourist attractions. The food is well cooked and plentyfull. Free parking is available directly outside the front door. Bootham City Guest House is highly recommended.

The room was very clean, The location was brill, as it is on a really quiet road and a mere 10 min walk into the centre of york. The breakfast was great which made a lovely start to the day. The bed was creaky which did disturb sleep a bit and there wasn't alot of lighting, also it would have been better for us if check out was a bit later. However, the good did outweigh the bad and it really was a truly enjoyable stay.

Room small but ideal for weekend break. Plenty of hot water. Clean tidy. Staff courteous. Pleasant service. Personal opinion - room was too warm during the night. Didn't like the sausage at breakfast - cheap plastic pink sausages, again personal opinion.

the room was very nice and quiet. The staff were friendly and helpful. Warm plates for the cooked breakfast would be nice. The food was good. Only problem was going down stairs at night to the toilet! Not a big problem however. Would recommend the place to friends.
