I found this hotel to be good value for money and efficiently staffed. It met our needs effectively.
Location is good, near town, train, and easy access to main roads.
The young man on duty was very welcoming, when I requested a chair for the room for my wife to use, this was no trouble. Breakfast in the morning was very good. We have booked again for April
The room was too small for three beds
absolutely nothing !!!,
Can't understand how this Hotel is still running as a Hotel, it may be appropriate for workers as a cheap digs while working away, but I would never recommend a stay here. problems with the door lock, shower base was badly in need of a scrub with tap on wash hand basin was not attached to sink. Bedroom window would not close, only mirror was situated in the passage from front door but no light!! only light was a very small spot light. Switch on wall light was left hanging, mattress did not fit bed, single headboard on what should have been a double bed. Breakfast we had to take chairs off the table to sit at.cereal, Orange juice and coffee were disgusting. we were offered an upgrade and happily paid the £5 for this, don't know what we would have had before we took the upgrade. We paid just over £71 for Bed and Breakfast.an absolute disgrace.
Bed was comfortable and staff really friendly. Great location and ideal parking facilities.
The room and hallways need redecorated/freshened up (numerous scuffs and scratches in both.)Would of liked to see more options at breakfast.
Was an excellent stay which was worth the money. Staff was friendly and polite. Room was cosy with everythig you needed. Would defiantly recommend.
Nothing at all
Everything about the place. Dirty, grubby. Paid for continental breakfast and it consisted of a loaf of bread to make your own toast a box of crunchie nut cornflakes and some fruit juice. Great if you like marmalade as no jam available.
We had the family room which had a conservatory and got a free upgrade to the room
The lock on the door was a bit faulty which you had to bang hard to lock the door and it could do with fresh coat of paint in the room
The staff where great nothing was to much trouble
The family room for 6 could be doing with a small makeover but really can't complain about the price we paid
Location was convenient for our visit. Price was good for last minute booking.
Dining area good be better with simple changes such as tablecovers and table set for booked diners. Tea n coffee facilities in rooms could also be presented better plus accessing the kettle required kneeling on floor, not really safe when handling boiling water
Staff were friendly
When i originally booked the hotel i rang to check that we could get the train there and back. This was a complete lie, the information i was given was incorrect and a taxi cost me £60.00. It was new years eve i must add.
Bed was too hard
Adequate space in single room staff excellent worth what I paid would use again
The staff at the Borland lodge were amazing! Very helpful abd super friendly. High recommended hotel!
We didn't really not like anything.... But if we had to pick something we would say that maybe it would be good to have a vegi option for the cooked breakfast.
Room was so small couldn't have more than two people in room otherwise it would be over crowded. Room was freezing cold & when my partner asked how we put heating on in room where told it didn't come on till 5 . Had 2 buy a hot water bottle. I had 2 use a spoon 2 get plug out of sink coz it was wedged in . One of the cups had a spoon tht had been used stuck to the cup .The lighting in room was rather dim
Staff really made my stay a pleasant one. Very friendly and knowledgeable.would Def stay again
nice staff very helpfull
breakfast very poor for money
Location and friendliness of staff,no charge for dog,he was welcomed by staff and easy to exercise. Room was small but very warm and cosy for December visit, also very clean. We also liked the option of not having breakfast which meant we could get up at our leisure, nobody hassled us to.get in room, and made the stay a very economic one. Liked code to get in main door after 10.30.
Key in room door hard to operate but may just have been us
Decor cleanlinest (especially bathroom) excellent staff breakfast,
Only stayed for 15 hours, during which time I did not find anything. perhaps a longer stay would have revealed something, definitely a few notches above Premier Inn's, and ten's of notches better than Travelodge.
Just a painting in the room
Guy at reception was stupid, heating starts at 5:00pm upon asking at 2:00 he replied that go "under the duvet".no hot water for shawer upon asking he replied that I don't want to argue, either you have a shawer is staff room or you check out.very near to no where, will never stay again even if it's for free, highly not recommended!!!
Didn't like the fact that the room was freezing because of an open window when arriving and the radiator didn't work A lot of banging at the early hours in the morning, loud enough to wake you. There was also a worker outside my window before 9AM scraping at the outside of it
Pleasant staff, licensed bar, reasonable price
Few bits needing attention i.e. bathroom tap loose.
good value for money.
bed linen had to be changed, bottom sheet not clean.
poor décor. The TV did not work. Poor Internet connection. The shower doors would not close. The bathroom /shower room had bad smell all the time. The carpets had holes.
No where to eat local in the evenings.
