Carl and his staff greatly enhanced the dining experince
Four poster bed Very good food Excellent customer service
Lovely setting and eating in the gallery was really special looking down on the lounge area
Stayed in the four poster room . The bed was very small and noisy . The mattress had roll together . The single chair wasn't comfortable and 2 people could not watch TV together . The room is too dark and very warm .
Ambience of the hotel very well trained staff good quality food ,exceptional lovely bedroom with four poster bed.
need to improve on the bar food in the great hall snack food extend the choice only burgers!
this historic venue is lovely place to stay its not a question of it will be ok the staff make it perfect experience from beginning to end
would have liked a room with a view
Room quality Location Food Service Staff
Again the standards are impressive, the cleanliness first class and the staff are just excellent, well trained polite and always with a smile I couldn't fault it. looking forward to going back again.
The staff were very friendly and helpful made it a very relaxing visit
Everything except over salty food
Evening meals had far too much salt in them
Lovely room and grounds
Hot water was intermittent
Lovely, spacious bedroom; roomy lounge with comfortable sofa and modern T.V. set up. Private terrace with hot tub.
Initially hard to find - an extra sign or two wouldn't go amiss.
The location, accomoddation, great food and friendly staff
We liked the old building but modern room. The breakfast was excellent with extremely good staff. Proximity to Plymouth and main route to Exeter was good, nice welcome and good receptionists.
There was nothing much to do at the hotel. They need a swimming pool or some walks or a putting green. We thought the golf course was on sight but it was a few minutes away on the side of a hill!
I found the stay really enjoyable. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The accommodation was great and I would definetly recommend it to anyone going to Plymouth!!
Great looking inside & out Fabulous rooms Lovely bar area Sublime dining area
the local village
Great setting, lovely historic building & not too far from Plymouth & main routes to Devon/ Cornwall
Pillows, like other hotels, poor quality
Location (albeit a little difficult to find). Setting absolutely beautiful. Loved history and Manor Hall. Staff very friendly and professional. Room was very comfortable, clean and huge. Had the most restfull sleep of the week of travelling!
The wonderful silence when waking up in the morning. This is a lovely location.
The bedroom was very dark and poky with awful lighting and the shower in the bath was awful - shower curtains should not be allowed in 2014!
Staff were very attentive and did everything with a smile. Absolutely charming. Breakfast is superb.
I have filled a questionare in before leaving. The whole experience was excellent.
The owners have renovated a beautiful listed building and upgrading it. The staff are efficient, professional and friendly. My room was comfortable with all the luxuries of a 4 star hotel. I also ordered food from the main restaurant to eat in thebar area as I was travelling alone and the food and service was excellent.
Because of the age of the building not many of the windows opened.
The whole place as excellent, really good!
The rooms were clean The staff were very helpful The setting was nice
The food was limited for business use. Not enough directional signs for restaurant. There was limited phone signal in room.
Very good food and restaurant, excellent restaurant staff, lovely setting, fantastic character Would always stay again if needing to stay in the area.
These are not really 'didn't likes' but observations - the hotel is in transition and being upgraded so some areas were better than other for furnishings etc... But don't lose the wonderful old furnitue as part of the upgrade. Also please buy some original old portraits to replace the replicas which probable cost just as much and are very obvious!
