The history of the building .The grounds all lovely
We arrived needing to book in and get to an event quickly. The staff were great and organised a local taxi within 10 mins. The rooms are lovely, tastefully modern and clean. The hotel is very picturesque and steeped in local history. We wished that we had more time to investigate the grounds and will definitely visit again.
All staff were polite and helpful. Complimentary drink offered on arrival. Courtesy call to the room to see if I needed anything.
The architecture and historical aspect
It was a double birthday treat from mother. and our baby girl who we nearly lost at birth 6 months old now. so a very important celebration. The bed? We slid to the middle all night . dreadful lumpy pilloes. so as our own bed is super. A big disappointment after a big build up and expectation . This has been reported to mother. who wished to visit . but... is now not sure. she is sad her "big treat" was a bit disappointing . staff. delightful.
Staff friendly Very clean hotel
Took a long time to serve food at supper!
What can't you like when the 'bedroom' is a suite with sitting room, outside veranda with Jacuzzi and bathroom with his and hers everything.
The building was so attractive; the bedrooms inviting and the beds comfortable. The service was good and the staff helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay.
The chairs in the bedrooms - not exactly a comfortable design!!
Staff were fantastic -- what an amazing team- so friendly and any request was sorted so efficiently Thank you for an amazing stopover from the north of Scotland on the way to southern Spain. Hope we can see you all again at some point
Stayed in the new part in a large family room. It was a great size with really comfy beds. Breakfast was excellent.
The hotel itself was the greatest feature for me. Would love to know the story behind the house.
There wasn't a leisure facility however one is being constructed.
Delightful Staff Room size General ambiance Breakfast Evening meal ( pricey, but well worth it! )
No Fridge or Safe in the room.
The staff couldn't do enough for us. The grounds are beautiful and we were fortunate enough to have beautiful weather. An exceptional building with a lovely feel. Like stepping back in time. Would love to return.
Fantastic decoration, well equipped rooms. Fantastic staff and fabulous location. By far my favourite hotel in the entire country.
very friendly staff comfy beds good bathrooms excellent breakfast historical setting
iffy filter coffee (but when isn't it...)
very helpful staff who could not do enough for us
the room we stayed in was 11 and because it was next to the entrance door to the stairwell whenever the door opened and was allowed to shut on it's own it made the room shake and made us jump.
This was an overnight stay as part of a celebration for a graduation. The staff organised some gifts we asked for to be placed in our daughter's room and we weren't disappointed - they helped make the occasion special. Everyone, from reception to bar staff were friendly and helpful.
Only thing I wish is for more gluten free options to be available!
Ambiance of buildings, particularly public areas (lobby, Great Hall and Gallery) and grounds. Large well appointed rooms. Restaurant experience good with excellent quality and presentation, though one meal not up to expectation. Professional, friendly staff. Not unduly disturbed by wedding/events functions. Information on local walks/drives in room handbook. Decided we would come again.
Just small niggles usually passed over but for the price paid here we expected a wider bed rather than a standard double. Unable to get wifi in our room so had to sit in lobby. Had only shower gel and conditioner so had to ask for shampoo and body lotion. Not difficult to provide one bottle of each, surely. Had to ask for the wine we had ordered in the restaurant to be served after waiting too long and seeing those who came after us having their wine poured. The lamb meal had practically raw green beans and did not really fit the description of braised shoulder.
We loved the hotel. Great service, great staff
Beautiful hotel in a great setting, very friendly staff and very good food. I would definitely recommend
Rooms ok , staff friendly.
Very noisy bathroom fans , when room below kept going to the bathroom in the night , it was impossible to not be woken by the noise!
Unfortunately the restaurant was very smokey as a result of the open fire in the bar below!
Staff except the dining room. Food. Hotel setting.
Location.stayed 3 nights and still needed GPS to find it. Wi Fi poor.
The location and the gallery restaurant location
Very average quality sandwich for supper which I ordered as room service due to my late arrival .It also took 45 mins to be delivered and given I paid £6 for room service this was not acceptable
ambiance was excellent
Carl and his staff greatly enhanced the dining experince
Four poster bed Very good food Excellent customer service
