Beautiful tudor hall which has been sympathetically converted into a very comfortable hotel offering excellent value for money. Front desk staff very friendly, helpful and courteous. One of the most pleasant hotel stays (after numerous disappointments) in many years. Would have no hesitation in booking again if we ever go back to Plymouth area.

The building is magnificent and the rooms were refurbished to a good standard. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and the food in the restaurant was excellent. The choice of musak was horrible, spoilt the atmosphere, and totally out of place

We loved the medieval history of the house the many original features such as the grand hall and the balcony restaurant. The room was beautiful, four poster bed, stand alone bath with television topped off by a Belguim chocolate selection by the bedside. Just wonderful and very romantic. Very clean. Just excellent.

Boringdon hall I thought was set in a lovely location. The hotel was full of charm and character. The food was excellent and the atmosphere in the restaurant was really lovely. The only thing I found slightly off putting was your wifi signal which even in the bar area was poor and kept dropping out. one last thing is your signing to the hotel is very poor and should be looked at I would suggest that there are signs missing especially as you come off Plymouth Rd over the bridge there is no sign and when you come into the village there is no sign either. Just minor points

Very friendly welcome with good information about rooms and services. We also had our 28 year old son with us who loved the hotel and his room. The staff asked for any comments because the rooms we were in had been refurbished and the odd things we did mention they had already put into motion. You felt you were away from it all because of the quite but very handy for getting into Plymouth and surrounding area.

It was once a fairly fine old building, and retains some interest. It seems to be under continual refurbishment, and the signs of that are everywhere - but its worst feature was its hopelessly inefficient hot water system. The creaking floors were the worst I have experienced.

I was born in Plymouth and only go back to visit. We have stayed in many hotels over the years and by far this is the best. As soon as you pull into the drive you know this is something special. The grand tudor house nestles into the countryside looking out over Plympton and Plymouth not much to look at during the day but on a clear night was delightful Walk through the large wooden doors into reception and it feels warm and welcoming. I doubt if many people walk straight to the desk without first stopping to look in the Great Hall which has the WOW factor. We were visiting family and opted for an ordinary courtyard room which are newly refurbished. Clean, comfortable beds and a power showers that works. Good size rooms with pretty views If you are lucky enough to be part of a wedding party here I can only imagine how unforgettable it will be, especially if you stay in one of the four posters or suites. The staff are fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant is a special experience in itself. The food was the best I have ever had in Plymouth. Even if you don't stay, visit and buy a pint of ale sit next to the massive open firplace step back in time and imagine yourself as part of Elizabethan gentry. Can't wait to go back.....

What an excellent hotel. I used to stay here years ago and had good memories of it. But it has since had upgrades to the rooms and the meals/restaurant/public rooms remain as atmospheric and special as they always were.

The buiding is an old manor house with connections going back over 500 years . For anybody who likes historic buildings this is a very interesting place to stay . Perhaps a little difficult to find on a dark night without a satnav system .

The architecture and surrounding grounds, proximity to Dartmoor and the city, old fashioned bedroom. Breakfast staff were a little lazy, I had to keep asking for coffee - if they'd left me a pot there wouldn't have been a problem. Also the breakfast trays were awkward to lift and serve from, they need a more effective servery that is open for access whilst retaining hotness of the food.

The character of the building and the competitive price. The friendliness of the staff. I intend using location for a group trip next spring. Remote location - transport is a must have. Some furnishings are showing wear and tear.
