Very nice hotel, friendly stuff eager to help all the time. Great location, beautiful environment, I definitely recommended! it was better than we expected it to be! the breakfast time 07:15 to 09:30am is a bit squezzed if you are looking for relaxation. the signage to the hotel from the main road is also a bit tricky.

We were really surprised when we checked into our room how spacious and luxurious it was with a four poster bed, the little touch of chocolate truffles was a lovely treat. There was no shower in the bathroom but not a major problem as we managed in the bath.

Location, decor, general atmosphere, Helpfulness of staff. The relocation of the resturant to the minsterals gallery. The Bath in the bedroom!. Ruined the decor and inappropriate. Completely destroyed the relaxed atmosphere of the room. Nor were there any safety rails or slip mat in the bath. I have asked several friends, showing them a photo. They thought it a gimic more suited to a less discerning hotel. l

We liked the age of the building and how it had been refurbished. The restaurant menu for dinner was also very good. Our room was also nice and quiet. Black finger prints on the back of our bathroom door! No marked bays for disabled guests. The couple we travelled with room had not been serviced when we got back late afternoon. No bed made etc!

The building is stunning and the gardens have wonderful views over Plymouth. Breakfast was very good and the staff were very helpful. We were put in room 44 with no view. I would suggest rooms in the 50s have views over the countryside and could be more spacious. The evening meal was quite expensive.

Restaurant was great dinner and breakfast. The main house and courtyard were beautiful and authentic. When I booked I was looking for romantic period authenticity. Unfortunately I didnt think the room was in keeping with the overall style but still of a good standard. There was alot of noise coming from surrounding rooms.

Look of the building Location was secluded but still within easy reach of the city Very poor reception staff Very poor communication between reception/kitchen Hot tub smelt very stale and not at all clean Main course took an hour to arrive via room service and was warm Dessert took an hour and only half the order arrived Special surprise for my wife and upon arrival she was told how much the room was despite being told multiple times on the phone before hand it was a romantic birthday surprise When seeking advice on what options were available as a romantic gesture in the room for arrival receptionist offered no advice saying 'everybody's different' and leaving me to come up with something with no recommendation Lacking in any nice touches which made the stay in any way special A real let down

Staff - very friendly and efficient. Food - delicious. Wine - reasonably priced. Location - Easily accessible. Hotel - Great. Poor wifi coverage. Shower curtain instead of door. No warning that our ground floor room in courtyard would be in the midst of a wedding party booking - and no option given to change room. Consequently, kept wide awake until gone 1am by our outer door and the one upstairs banging, people racing up and down stairs outside our room, shouting, loud tv and drunken girls outside our bedroom. Such a pity that one night of the three left such an unpleasant taste.

Very friendly and effecient staff. Beautifull Grade 1 Listed Elisabethan features. Very comfortable and clean rooms. Excellent interior design of the bedrooms. Well presented and cooked breakfast. Lovely flowers in room Lovely scented toileteries in bathroom. Well presented and flavoured evening meal* No safe deposit box Evening meal mixed - large gap between starter and main meal and main meal and dessert. Venison over cooked and dry Forgot cheese biscuits for cheese Omitted the lime ice with one of the desserts. Evening meal service lacked scrutiny and organisation.
