Building is amazing. Most staff good, restaurant supervisor very good. Good food. Far from a typical business hotel but one I would recommend. Free wifi only worked in main hall area, not in lounge bar - which would have been a better work area. Free wifi thoughout hotel would be a great investment. Some trainee staff needed more training.

The building was magnificent. Food was very good. Bed very uncomfortable. Pillows almost non-existent. Bathroom fixtures old which be okay if they worked better. Toilet, poor design and function. Shower, poor design of fixtures.

Boringdon Hall was lovely, staying in such a building surrounded by all that history was a unique experience. It was cheaper than a b&b, comfy bed and good size room. Wifi only available in reception.

The buiding is an old manor house with connections going back over 500 years . For anybody who likes historic buildings this is a very interesting place to stay . Perhaps a little difficult to find on a dark night without a satnav system .

The architecture and surrounding grounds, proximity to Dartmoor and the city, old fashioned bedroom. Breakfast staff were a little lazy, I had to keep asking for coffee - if they'd left me a pot there wouldn't have been a problem. Also the breakfast trays were awkward to lift and serve from, they need a more effective servery that is open for access whilst retaining hotness of the food.

The character of the building and furnishings. Friendliness of the staff. Quality of meals served. Some furnishings are in need of a refurb - in progress Transport essential as too far to walk to town.

The character of the building and the competitive price. The friendliness of the staff. I intend using location for a group trip next spring. Remote location - transport is a must have. Some furnishings are showing wear and tear.

The experience of staying in such a historical buiilding with a wealth wonderful features was certainly a delight. The staff were responsive, polite and caring. The room was comfortably and clean. The large reception rooms with splendid settees and chairs were very much in keeping with the character and age of the hotel. Breakfast was superb without being too fussy or being invaded by staff. For such an old buiding the heating was comfortable and of the right balance. There was plenty of parking and directions to find the hotel were fairly easy to follow. The hotel was just the right distance from Plymouth to enjoy being in the country without having to trek too far. Gardens and surrounds seemed very pleasant Pillows a little on the firm side and foam. Bar was not open to residents late at night Early morning call did not arrive!! Thank goodness for mobile phone alarms but thses are minor issues and didn't complain about them just a point of interest which may be of use to someone else

The staff were very helpful. The breakfast staff were the ones I dealt with and they did everything to please. It was quite hard to find the hotel. Perhaps a better map showing the location. It would be useful to have a more detailed map of Plympton and Plymouth with cark parks etc.

The staff and bar facilities were excellent along with the period setting The booking arrangements are rubbish as I had confirmation when I used Amex credit and had to pay again when I arrived as the hotel did not accept Amex. The shower was virtually useless and the rest of the plumbing screamed! Room was tired

Very friendly helpful staff throughout, everyone seemed happy to have us as guests so we felt very welcome. Food was very good, lovely building and environment steeped in history, pity we only had a one night stay and arrived late so we had no chance to explore. To take a Devon Cream Tea in the Great Hall was a lovely experience. We only chose the hotel 'pot luck' as it was close to Plymouth and we had an early ferry to France to catch. As it happens we would have been very happy to have had the chance to stay longer. Decor in rooms/bathrooms was in good order but needs updating and the mattress was not to my wife's liking though it was fine for me. I understand a refurbishement is planned. Would have liked a lot more info on the extensive history of the place.

The building itself is the best feature as I'm a sucker for these old manor houses that have been converted to hotels. The staff were very friendly and I was shown personally to my room upon arrival as it was across the courtyard from the main building. The food was very good and well priced, so was definitely value for money. The room was very large and very quiet with two beds and flat screen tv. Overall, I would definitely stay again for the price I paid. While the room was large, it was across the courtyard which meant no wireless network was available, but you can take your laptop across to the bar and have a leisurely drink if you wish to work. The decor was a little tired [but this is often to be expected in these old hotels and is part of the charm in my mind] and it was clear that the carpet was not shown a vacuum cleaner during my stay as there was a small piece of plastic in the middle of the floor that remained there for the duration of my stay. There was make up on the main mirror in the room, so although the bed was made, the rest of the room was not given any attention. The shower works off a mixer tap in the bath, so this was difficult to get the right temperature.
