You can be assured of a warm welcome, impeccable service and the highest degree of comfort at this inn, conveniently situated on the outskirts of Newcastle-under-Lyme. The Borough Arms Hotel and Restaurant is one of the oldest established hotels in the Newcastle-Under-Lyme and Stoke-On-Trent areas, with history dating back to 1783. The hotel is a traditional English coaching inn, yet has been carefully and subtly refined to offer the comforts and modern standards required by today's visitors. Independently owned and managed, the hotel retains many original features and takes great pride in offering a very personal service. As a valued guest, you may be confident that your comfort is ensured, whether you are staying in one of the 40 centrally heated rooms with private bathrooms, visiting for a meal in the restaurant, or using the conference and banqueting facilities. You may want to see the online wedding brochure, which provides more information about Civil Ceremonies and wedding receptions. I thought the meals were very good and the bedroom was very adequate for a short or long stay. The Car Parking facilities were very good. I felt the staff in the dining room should be trained to clear tables. At one breakfast we had our fried breakfast was brought by the waitress who had nowhere to put them as the cereal plates were still in place. At the evening meal we had to put the veg etc on the windowcill as empty glasses and plates had not been cleared. Also I think it would be better to have the bar staff on duty in the bar in the evening each time we had to go to Reception to say we wanted a drink before anyone appeared.

Could be a good location. If upgraded could be a good hotel. The girls serving breakfast, were delightful and could not have done more. Reception could do with training. Asked for quite room but was two doors away from road side and very noisy. Small bed uncomftable. Room very tired, dull, burnt holes, stains, old and shabby. Bathroom needs descaling, tiles, walls, taps etc. black condensation , dirty, Stained shower cutain. Room and bathroom desperatly need upgrading. Orderd bar snack from menu, told unavailable. They don't serve cake or biscuits with coffee. They donot serve decaf tea and only instant decaf coffee. The Restaurant was only serving Christmas dinner on the 30th December, no choice!

Everything was more or less O.K. No bar or restaurant food on a Sunday night, but there is a good pub up the road.

We booked an overnight stay - only met the receptionist who was quite friendly & helpful, we didn't use any facilities or dine at the hotel, room was good - quite comfortable with shower & bath, parking right outside our door. It suited our purpose. Noisy disco until 12 midnight, plus traffic noise.

The location I didn't like the room at all. We were located in an annexe across the car park, the room smelled old and mouldy. The front door was mouldy. The TV didn't turn up enough, the bathroom was really old and dated. We were generally unimpressed by the room and felt it needed a good updating.
