Everything! The hotel was excellent with very well fitted rooms and public areas. The lounge and bar areas in particular made for a very relaxing country house atmosphere. Above all the food and service was excellent. |

Impressive hotel, well presented, in a superb location. First class service from the staff, from initial greeting to sorting out challenges. Good room facilities, including comfortable beds, and loads of hot water for the shower. Excellent dining: impressive service, first class food, a good range of meal choices, in a superb dining room setting. Easily holds its own when compared with four and five star hotels elsewhere, its three star rating does not do it justice. What's not to like! Only some minor observations a) The food and service really were superb, but there were no simpler less formal dining options for when one did not want the full three course silver service option! b) Breakfast closes by 9:30, which is fine most days, but after a ten hour journey it woud have been nice not to have set the alarm clock quite so early on day one! c) Internet WiFi access was limited in coverage and rather slow, severly limiting the amount of work I could get done whilst there, but the hotel staff told me they are extending their WiFi coverage so this may have already been addressed. |

Beautiful location, quiet, very cozy hotel, excellent food. If you are looking for a place in the Lake District to relax and get away from the crowds, this is a highly commendable place to go. |

The setting was great, very quiet and relaxing. We enjoyed being able to watch the wildlife from the hotel, we saw an owl and a deer in the grounds and there is a local red squirrel community. We were unable to close the bedroom window one evening and consequently were bitten by the midges but the following morning we were able to see why - there was a button on the hinge which had to be depressed before closing which was impossible to see in the dark. Other than that small issue we have no complaints. |

The hotel has a freindly feel and very helpfull staff. Food is good but menu for dinner/evening meals a bit limited I felt as if I were in an elderly persons home although I am not a youngster at 52,. A little background music would make a difference although this could be limited to the bar area. I wasn't encouraged to spend the evening in at the hotel and preferred to eat out in order to get a little light entertainment. |

This family-run country house has spectacular views across Waterhead Bay, Windermere, Loughrigg Fell and the Langdale Peaks, and offers stylish, modern and luxurious accommodation. |
The Red Lion Hotel in Grasmere is the perfect base for a holiday in the Lake District. Artists and poets have been drawn to this area of the Lake District since Wordsworth's time. |
This family-run hotel is on the edge of Lake Windermere and has free parking, an indoor swimming pool, free Wi-Fi and an excellent local reputation for its food. |
Situated alongside Coniston Water, with lawns running down to the lake shore, this wonderful Lake District property presents itself as the perfect getaway from everyday stresses. |
