Score from 101 reviews Good
Good friendly staff
weekend self service breakfast not good enough, ran out too quickly and it was not even busy, had to wait for 10 mins to receive... stick with the weekly waitress service.
A definite improvementcompared with last year, room, car park etc upgraded. Staff friendly and polite. Room comfortable and warm.
The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The hotel was spotlessly clean. My room felt like home from home.
Newly refurbished rooms Showers are fantastic Excellent meal and service in restuarant Welcoming and helpful staff
venue including gardens and setting, facilities for children, room facilities
room had no heating on so was cold
Character, and the 'Farm' aspect. Would be a fab place if you have little ones-lots to do and see. There we're animals, lakes with boats and lots of open space / play areas. Staff very friendly.
We ordered the cooked breakfast in bed, although the quality was excellent it was a small portion. Both my partner and I said if we knew we would have paid more for an extra sausage/ slice of bacon / hash brown (there was only one of each).
The hotel is in beautiful grounds but the building is in dire need of a refurb!! The breakfast manager was friendly and courteous and our room was large and the beds comfortable.
Rude barman when we arrived at midnight after our daughters wedding.....didn't really want to serve us a nightcap and shut up the bar post haste! Hotel? More like one of those boarding houses that shut the doors after midnight!! Also, our room radiator was locked on high so we were sweating like a sauna as couldn't turn it down.
Great breakfast and friendly staff.
Had a TV with no aerial, meaning it was a really big paper wait. Very hard bed. Very loud extractor fan in bathroom.
Spacious room, excellent breakfast and friendly staff.
The extractor fan in the Bathroom was extremley noisy and past its best. The decor in the room was ready for redecorating.
The breakfast was very good. Serve-yourself with plenty of options. However the plates were rather small and should have been kept hot.
The rooms were tired with peeling wall paper. The toilet seat was broken, because the rubber pads underneath were missing. There were stains on the bed bases, and a thick layer of dust on top of the wardrobe. The curtains would not shut properly as there were several broken curtain runners. Someone had attempted a repair with a safety pin but this had not worked.
the staff were very friendly, the grounds were beautiful
my bathroom door in room 33 didn't shut.
Funny place with the garden and the animals. Nice people
The bed was not comfortable. Too hard. We were broken the next morning.
Lovely pond with wood jette/decking and strange animal statues
Had nothing not to like
1st impresions good
until you awake to a member of staff with a bad atitude who tells me that im so lucky to get my breakfast, then i go to my table for my breakfast tobe told that im so lucky to get by a waitress the not 30 seconds later the voice on the phone says to me you want to think yourself so lucky weve decided to take up two bacon sandwiches as there couldernt be bothered to cook the full english as on the menu to my room as im waiting at my table he changed the rules to suit him my advise look further and get abetter deal for your self, dont ask for a early breakfast go to work on a emty stomach its not as if i paid for it is it.
Beautiful grounds and farm animals. Breakfast was very nice, lots of choice
Dated rooms, understand refurbs are ongoing. Room too near function room for noise. Dinner average, could do better.
the grounds were beautiful newly improved .a surprise round every corner kids would love it play ground animals outdoor pool .my husband was In his element sat with birds .theres emus. lamas, stags ,hens. all species of ducks ,plenty of areas to sit outside .ime sure we missed lots its so big .what an improvement from when we stayed before.food was good at breakfast with lots of choice .the staff were great though the cleaner didn't replenish the tea coffee milk and biscuits we had to get our own from reception .they were very helpful from the minute we walked in
the rooms are dated but I believe they are all in the process of being updated and refurbished .they were clean and spacious .if they improve them as well as the grounds it will be a fab hotel .
Night porter and morning waitress both very helpful.
Room not really ready; door key missing (porter had to use his to let me in); TV not plugged in; no instructions for use of shower (I ended up with a showered head) - should tell you there is a metal sleeve that controls the water flow. Poor cleaning of communal areas; they had clearly had a number of guests in lounge/dining area but waste food bits on the floor and large hand-prints/smudges on windows and doors to exterior (garden).
The staff were very helpful. The ambiance was good. The grounds beautiful. Breakfast was excellent.
The room was nice but the toilet would not flush despite the looking plumber looking at it. The taps on the basin and the basin it's self were loose. Evening meal was average.
Breakfast staff on Sunday morning were very good
The room was tired and in need of redecoration. The huge fridge was superfluous. The bathroom shaver light did not work. The toilet seat was dangerous as it was not fixed securely
The reception, bar and dining room staff were delightful, and Diana, the waitress for breakfast very helpful in offering advice for the location. Dinner too, was of very good quality and the breakfast was excellent.
The curtains in the bedroom had come off the rail, making it impossible to get the bedroom blacked out. A repeated request to remedy this was ignored. Mould was growing in corners of the bathroom, but worst of all, the hairdryer burst into flames when I was drying my hair, burning the ends. Informing reception had no effect, despite a promise of replacement, and I had no functional hairdryer for the rest of our stay. Overall, the electrical connection are of doubtful quality and unlikely to meet heath and safety regulations. Dirt on the stairs in front of our bedroom accumulated and was not removed during our stay. General housekeeping standards require review.
The staff were excellent and always so friendly and willing to help. The atmosphere was great and the hotel really draws you in from the road. Curb appeal galore!
Sadly the hallways and rooms were looking a little tired. There are areas where the wall paper is peeling and a very large crack in the hallway wall. I would be concerned about subsidence! In the room we found a few cobwebs and said spider! The TV didn't have an aerial cable so didn't work (the staff did rectify this when told) The bed was in need of replacing and was very noisy but comfortable. We don't know which room it was but someone had left a bathroom light on meaning the extractor fan which was very loud was running till 1am!
Breakfast was fab, grounds were lovely.
claterring noises when people came in late.
Nice grounds and location Quiet at night
Room and bathroom very dated and hot. A room request which we made was ignored despite confirming the request with reception by telephone prior to travelling. Quality of the evening meal was poor and expensive for what it was. No draught beer
The staff The location The facilities
They did a last minute change in the reservation They didn't tell me that there was an extra charge for bringing a dog until late, despite of previously asking them.
