Pleasant grounds and surroundings Room was mouldy, had to change. Toilet did not flush properly. Generally grubby and vastly over priced. There is a Travelodge across the road, take my advice and stay there.

Cheap hotel, nice grounds Dirty shabby hotel in need of refurbishment. Too Had water dripping through the light in the bathroom no tv Ariel, no shower hose it had been stolen !!! No toilet roll, and a manager who just thought it was funny! We had to wait over an hour for a cold unappetising breakfast to appear.

A very pleasant stay with friendly staff, ideally located for our business meetings in Lewes. Eastbourne and Bexhill. The price for B&B was also excellent and I thought that the food and the service was first class. Occasionally staff were not available on duty in the restaurant at the advertised time. For example, I missed a cooked breakfast on day one (even though I was in the restaurant at its opening of 7.30am) because the Chef was unavailable and I could not wait any longer as I needed to be at Gatwick for 9.00am. Also would it be possible to have Wi-Fi in the rooms as well as the public spaces?

The rural location was superb. The first reaction was wow how brilliant this looks. Once inside it didnt let me down, lovely receptionist, very helpful. Had a lovely welcoming feel and was looking forward to the overnight stay. The room we were allocated was obviously the furthest away due to the price booked and we were quite concerned with the number of corridors that the room was going to be not as we would have hoped. We could not have been further from the truth, it was infact very spacious, good sized bathroom, and very comfortable. The only thing we couldn't control was the heating unfortuneately which was quite hot and the window closure (being ground floor)we could not close for security reasons, but apart from that very happy with the room. A little unhappy at the resteraunt, only a set menu to choose form and very limited! although food very food what we had.

Someone who is coming to UK first time, will find typical British atmosphere lovely. The whole place has to be renewed in most of the spots. The FIREPLACE was not allowed to be used by management by different/controversial reasons. Shame, since that masterpiece, dated back to medieval time, has to have fire within it every day !!

Straight prices, much better than a travel lodge. minor complaints taken seriously. rooms not affected when a large function was on The resturant menu was limited and not very stimulation but this was just after Christmas. The bar has only limited drinks and does not have any proper beer.

We actually stayed in Lower Dicker and not the other location in the e-mail. The staff were all very helpful and kind. The bar food was very good and appealed to us more than the main menu. We were pleased to be able to take our dog along with us. Overall a very pleasant stay and we would stay there again.

Warm friendly welcome. Although we arrived earlier than planned we were able to have lunch and still book into our room before 1500hrs. A little tlc on the decor would make a big difference - a bit of paint and some wallpaper adhesive to repair some worn and knocked places is all it needs.

The hotel was lovely, beautiful setting, the original parts of the building had a lot of history. Staff were great, food was lovely. The decor was a little tired and the walls of the restaurant had food stains and splatters. Our bathroom needed updating, broken toilet and tiles.

Friendly staff, good for pets (dog), convenient location, good breakfast Very poor sound proofing between ground and first floor (we were in room 29 on the ground floor). This resulted in 4 disturbed nights.

All the staff were very polite, helpful and friendly, and they looked smart. This was the main thing. The breakfast was good, as was the bar meal. There was plenty of very hot water, and the hotel was warm. The grounds are beautiful, with ample parking. The room was well proportioned and bed a good size, but oh so in need of updating and refurbishing. Bathroom smelled damp, and also in need of some tlc. In the bathroom of my friend the shower had been attached to the wall facing the shower curtain, so that when turned on water sprayed the bathroom! There was a hole in the trap door in the ceiling above the bath. The bedside clock radio was grubby and did not work. In the bar a lampshade was broken and chairs grubby. Could not help but notice how dusty the dividing unit was in the dining area. It would make so much difference if a little money was spent to do it up.

It was very conveniently situated for our needs. We stayed in this hotel previously (about 1 year ago) and since then it does appear to have deteriorated slightly. In particular, the bedroom we had needed some decoration and I thought the breakfast was not as generous.

We loved the location, as it was handing to the wedding venue that we attended and the first impression, as we drove into the car park was that the building and grounds were beautiful When booking I notified that I was a Coeliac, and they confirmed that they could cater for me, but at breakfast, gluten free bread was not available, the sausages and bacon were in the same dish as were the hash brown and fried bread, each served with the same utensils, therefore, causing contamination, which could have had devastating effects for me and other Coeliacs. The toilet in the bathroom had come away from its fixings (so you had to do a balancing act) and a there was a very strong, stale stench also in the bathroom. The hotel overall, seemed tired and could do with a face lift, but the bed was comfortable and clean and all but one of the staff were very polite and helpful

Our room wasn't made up when we arrived - not a problem. It still wasn't made up 4 hours later and no one could be found to make it up. Alternative room was acceptable. One receptionist was excellent, another did not appear to know what she was doing.

Easy access from main road. No traffic noise inside to disturb us Comfortable room Restaurant completely satisfactory Pleasant environment and ideal for our one night stay The interior could do with a little cosmetic renovation, as beginning to feel outdated and "tired".

“On arrival the place immediately had character and there was plenty of parking space. It felt warm and comfortable and definitely relaxInn! Reception was efficient and customer service was genuine from every member of staff. The girl who served my supper waved to me the next dfay when she was riding past on her bike! The food was well cooked and presented, both supper and breakfast the next morning. I actually tried to change my plans to stay another night. A stay which certainly exceeded my expectations!” Denea, Bonchurch |
