Score from 182 reviews Very good
Bedroom clean. Staff bright & chatty & tried their best but too few of them. Grounds very interesting and must be beautiful in the summer - great for wedding pics. Some public rooms nice for functions & weddings.
Bathroom was well overdue to be ripped out. Some threadbare carpet in corridors - and some fire doors in desperate need of paint; so simple to give a better impression. So few staff that it was a job to get a drink in the bar and then we didn't really want to sit on the dirty looking chairs in there.
Staff were polite and helpful
Radiator valve did not work hence room like a furnace. Decor old and tired needs refurbishment. 1970s bath says it all. Lights in garden meant bedroom lights rendered obsolete!
Breakfast was good, nice and clean, not noisy even though on main road.
Mattress lumpy, headboard and footboard ghastly plastic, footboard stuck out 6 inches beyond bed and we kept walking into it, spotlight aimed at window and the blinds did not keepout enough light, shower turned itself on in the middle of the night, had to cross courtyard to breakfast (very cold and wet) shelf above sink very loose and sloping, things kept falling into sink
Friendly, helpful staff. This was probably a very classy hotel in its heyday. Very tastefully decor in well planned room.Lovely grounds. Good, cooked to order breakfast.
Decor is tired and needs updating. Shower need modernising. Could do with some fruit for breakfast.
Service was excellent
size of room, staff, restaurant, bed comfortable
unable to control temperature in room. like sleeping in a sauna. thermostatic control on radiator , both in bathroom and bedroom did not work. tiles coming of wall in bath. extract did not work in bathroom. could do with makover in general. a fire in the bar would have been nice.
Friendly, helpful staff Convenient room location for us + dogs Pleasing and 'interesting' grounds to walk around (lots of animals) Easy parking Cosy bar/ good, spacious dining room Good menu/ food nicely presented
No control on radiator/ room became very stuffy/ windows open all night to compensate. Un-necessarily cheap toilet paper Nice shower but sliding door came off its runners! Bathroom very small/ no option to have a bath.
Bed's, new large screen tv's, quality of food
Bathroom could have done with a makeover, but this did not affect the stay.
Our complaint about the breakdown of the heating in our room was handled with a temporary solution immediately.
The problem with the heating in our room should have been known and resolved before we checked in.
Good friendly staff
weekend self service breakfast not good enough, ran out too quickly and it was not even busy, had to wait for 10 mins to receive... stick with the weekly waitress service.
A definite improvementcompared with last year, room, car park etc upgraded. Staff friendly and polite. Room comfortable and warm.
The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The hotel was spotlessly clean. My room felt like home from home.
Newly refurbished rooms Showers are fantastic Excellent meal and service in restuarant Welcoming and helpful staff
venue including gardens and setting, facilities for children, room facilities
room had no heating on so was cold
Character, and the 'Farm' aspect. Would be a fab place if you have little ones-lots to do and see. There we're animals, lakes with boats and lots of open space / play areas. Staff very friendly.
We ordered the cooked breakfast in bed, although the quality was excellent it was a small portion. Both my partner and I said if we knew we would have paid more for an extra sausage/ slice of bacon / hash brown (there was only one of each).
The hotel is in beautiful grounds but the building is in dire need of a refurb!! The breakfast manager was friendly and courteous and our room was large and the beds comfortable.
Rude barman when we arrived at midnight after our daughters wedding.....didn't really want to serve us a nightcap and shut up the bar post haste! Hotel? More like one of those boarding houses that shut the doors after midnight!! Also, our room radiator was locked on high so we were sweating like a sauna as couldn't turn it down.
Great breakfast and friendly staff.
Had a TV with no aerial, meaning it was a really big paper wait. Very hard bed. Very loud extractor fan in bathroom.
Spacious room, excellent breakfast and friendly staff.
The extractor fan in the Bathroom was extremley noisy and past its best. The decor in the room was ready for redecorating.
The breakfast was very good. Serve-yourself with plenty of options. However the plates were rather small and should have been kept hot.
The rooms were tired with peeling wall paper. The toilet seat was broken, because the rubber pads underneath were missing. There were stains on the bed bases, and a thick layer of dust on top of the wardrobe. The curtains would not shut properly as there were several broken curtain runners. Someone had attempted a repair with a safety pin but this had not worked.
the staff were very friendly, the grounds were beautiful
my bathroom door in room 33 didn't shut.
Funny place with the garden and the animals. Nice people
The bed was not comfortable. Too hard. We were broken the next morning.
Lovely pond with wood jette/decking and strange animal statues
Had nothing not to like
1st impresions good
until you awake to a member of staff with a bad atitude who tells me that im so lucky to get my breakfast, then i go to my table for my breakfast tobe told that im so lucky to get by a waitress the not 30 seconds later the voice on the phone says to me you want to think yourself so lucky weve decided to take up two bacon sandwiches as there couldernt be bothered to cook the full english as on the menu to my room as im waiting at my table he changed the rules to suit him my advise look further and get abetter deal for your self, dont ask for a early breakfast go to work on a emty stomach its not as if i paid for it is it.
Beautiful grounds and farm animals. Breakfast was very nice, lots of choice
Dated rooms, understand refurbs are ongoing. Room too near function room for noise. Dinner average, could do better.
