Score from 140 reviews Very good
The Staff were brilliant. The Location was great. The beds were very comfortable. Nice and clean. Breakfast very good.
Creaking floorboards so quite noisy from above. Reception desk not always available.
Food excellent Staff all very helpful just very nice people A nice car park and safe A first class hotel all round apart from the hills.
Would have liked the town just a bit closer, My wife and I are over 70 so we didn't like the hills very much but that wouldn't stop us coming to your hotel again.
The location the pools the restfulness Ideal to unwind from our busy lives.
Nothing that's why it was our second visit.
Warm & welcoming staff
Creaking floor boards
The surroundings and building were beautiful. Liked the idea of having swimming pool etc. Also having a bar. Breakfast was delicious considering chef was back and forth to bestival haha! The staff were fantastic and very friendly, only had couple of breakfast time issues but not with the food. Not sure it's enough for me to return.
Didn't like the hill walk everyday, was a little too far from the village. Thought the hotel could do with a little up keep, the place a bit shabby but not chic. Facilities were Ok pool, jacuzzi worked but steam and sauna weren't on, gym equipment were pointless... Dated! Had an issue with breakfast one day, didn't like the fact waitress had our cooked food in hand but stopped to have conversation with other guests, so fairly cool when reached us. Not enough plug sockets in the room, pretty unorganised had move things around just to plug kettle in! Freeview signal was terrible too, sorry! Didn't think it was worth the amount of money, for condition of place.
Public rooms were clean and comfortable, the breakfasts were excellent
the bedroom was dusty with cobwebs, the mattress was worn down and because the room was so small a huge fan was put in because it got so hot. it does need a refurb
The setting and friendliness
Room to small for amount paid and could do with a up date
Nice comfortable room Friendly staff Warm and cosy common areas Peaceful location but close walk to main high street
Reception shuttered off before 8am and after 10pm Poor breakfast experience: cheap quality ingredients, guests need to make a dozen trips from table to collect basics: coffee/tea, milk, jam/butter, make toast Cheap nasty toilet paper in rooms ensuite No dining / evening menu (neither in room nor advertised anywhere): Isle of Wight 2014 Guide promotes the Bourne Hall dining experience. It doesn't exist. Extra charges to use a bathrobe (as if £140 a night isn't enough) No newspapers (anywhere)
The spa area was very tired looking along with the bathroom plus the extractor fan in the bathroom was very noisy.
The staff and location of the hotel were excellent.
The rooms were extremely expensive for the standard of decor and furniture provided. We paid £190 per night for a family room and were expecting a room that was much higher grade, what a shame. It was the only complaint we had about the hotel, if they revamped their rooms we would have happily recommended them but cannot as the rooms were not value for money. Not sure if our room was a particularly old room, the website certainly showed much nicer rooms.
Swimming pools were great, staff very friendly and helpful
Hotel needs bit of a facelift, family room very small, bit of a climb up steep hill to hotel can be a struggle.
Indoor swimming pool
Outdoor swimming pool not heated. No games room. Kids 8 and above are welcome, but few facilities
Bed comfortable, Breakfast v.good. Hotel peaceful. Staff helpful. car parking good.
Room not as clean as it could be and cleaning liquid stain under toilet seat could be removed. Breakfast time when busy, staff seem hard pressed to keep up with orders and have to wait for coffee to be made. Pool area and loungers need a bit of TLC
The staff were excellent & super polite & helpful. The pool was a big plus and one of the main reasons for booking this hotel. Beds were comfortable.
Only thing that was a negative was the really creaky floorboards in our area.
Everything food was good staff welcoming and very conviniently located near all services
Everything was good
Poor shower, bathroom needs refurbishing, quality not up to expectaton and price paid
The manageress was very friendly and accommodating. Food quality was good and the hotel was well located for easy access to Shanklin and beyond. Generally a pleasant and enjoyable stay.
Some of the decor was a little dated.
The staff were excellent and very helpful, the food very good , the dining room very comfortable.Lovely views from the patio area. Good hotel to stay at for touring the island. Parking excellent.
Hotel not a good location for local walks, very steep hill. The housekeeping could have been improved in our room.
Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast very good and cooked to order.
I hadn't read reviews prior to booking and hadn't read the tip on room 25. However would have to agree with the review that it is haunted due to some strange happenings during our 4 night stay. I am teetotal so can't blame drink for what I experienced. If you are into the paranomal this is the room for you.
staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast very good. Indoor pool ok and Jacuzzi good.
Dirty towels. Out door pool dirty . Sauna two small. No steam room.
Overall a lovely 3 nights with a nice room, nice breakfast & nice staff & a very nice indoor pool.
Outdoor pool & loungers area tired & paying extra for a sea view & just about seeing it through the leaves.
Breakfast was good and staff member was very friendly and gave good service.
The hotel on the whole was a bit tired and in need of a lot of updating, our bathroom needed decorating and tiling finished off. Grounds would benefit from a good maintenance man! Could not get an evening meal only on monday which was no good for us.
Staff were friendly Breakfast delicious Room comfortable and well stocked Great location Lovely swimming pool
Cleanliness of corridors, webs and spiders. Not in rooms though.
room far to hot , no a/c , no real interest in helping as they know most people won't be back , breakfast poor . ended up covered in insect bites as we had to leave windows open all the time just to make it bearable.
Outside pool could have been cleaner
