Excellent location and surroundings. Good breakfasts. Friendly staff.

Very warm room indeed even on a cold day. Furniture and decor of room rather tired, with plenty of evidence of use.

Room comfortable, breakast very good, staff friendly and very helpful, pool and jacuzzi good, gardens good.

Creaky floors in the hall and rooms above us. Missing down-pipe outside the room, resulting in rain noisily running down the (rather green) exterior wall

Carol and her husband are amazing hosts- they cater to your every need - we were put in an beautiful room with four poster bed and sea view and the service they provide is impeccable. From making a dinner reservation at a local pub, giving transport advice, providing a Victorian afternoon tea or arranging a massage - it is impeccable. This hotel is a true gem on the Isle of Wight. Highly recommended and worthy of excellent ratings received from a number of reputable travel sources

Longer period for breakfast would be appreciated 8-9:30 is a bit short.

The simple standard room was very old, the bed was too small

I enjoyed all aspects of the hotel. Bourne Hall is what is says on the tin. Very civilised and friendly too. Good service and a lovely breakfast.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was beautiful, clean, comfortable, with a nice period decor. The breakfast was excellent and the rooms spacious and well managed. The spa facilities were very good and the overall stay was a very pleasant experience. We will certainly stay there again.

Very friendly staff, helpful and delivering a great service. Had excellent knowledge of local restaurants, and passed on good tips.

The staff were great and helpful and the hotel itself was superb, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and again the staff were brilliant. We would certainly stay again and highly recommend this hotel.

We were kept awake until 3am by other guests in the lounge area, this we think is unacceptable, this is not reflecting the hotel and staff who were excellent but still needs to be looked at for future guests we think.

Excellent location for exploring the Isle of Wight. Clean and comfortable with pleasant staff. The breakfast was excellent with a wide selection of hot and cold food. The room (premier) was large and comfortable with all amenities including a newly refurbished bathroom.

Nothing to report. The hotel management ensured we had a great stay at Bourne Hall.

we really enjoyed our stay,the staff were lovelly and couldnt do more for us. The breakfasts were nice and the dining area comfortable.Location is great for walks,pubs,beach ,the local town is good for shopping.The views were relaxing too,we will be going back soon to do walking.Although room needed a freshen up we were comfortable and it felt homely,cant wait to return.

hard to say anything negative,maybe the rooms could be a little cleaner,and a freshen up.Was a shame you couldnt get evening meals but the pubs are so close it wasnt an issue.

Staff all very friendly and helpful. Excellent choice at breakfast. Large, spacious bedrooms and ours had great views of the sea. Welcoming on arrival.

Decor seemed a little tired in some areas of the hotel. Changing the dark leather chairs for comfortable sofas and updating heavy carpets would help. Bathroom amenities did not get replenished. Shower in pool area was cold.

Tastefully restored country house with spacious accommodation. Very well maintained. Excellent service. Quiet out-of-town location, but only ten minutes walk into central Shanklin. Excellent base for walking the coastal path and the downs.

We were upgraded to a suite which was unexpected, and a nice touch. Staff were really friendly and went out of their way to make our short stay exceptional. The food was very good, with larger than needed portions, great service.

Bathroom a bit tatty.

The hotel is set in pleasant surroundings with a lovely view of the sea from our bedroom. The facilities were excellent as were the the hotel staff. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again next year, probably for a week rather than just a weekend break. Only slight downside was that it is located up a fairly steep hill which, although only a few minutes walk from the old Shanklin village, made it difficult for my mother. She managed to walk down but had to get a cab back. Only to be expected at 93 years of age!

The breakfast

Hotel was old fashioned. Room 1 TV ariel was not connected properly so the TV cut out every few seconds. Thick cobwebs/dust on centre ceiling light. No space to put anything in the bathroom and the shower basket was on the floor and not on the wall in the shower as it should be.

The holiday was relaxing, comforting very enjoyable. The location for days out was good,beautiful sea view, wonderful spa treatments and fantastic food
