Opened on Queen Victoria's coronation day in June 1838, the Royal Bath Hotel was the first hotel in Bournemouth. It offers 3 hotel restaurants, a health spa and lovely sea views.
Score from 1854 reviews Good

Score from 984 reviews Very good
The food was excellent
Lovely spacious big room, side view of the sea. Lovely kingsize bed , shower or bath to choose from. Staff very pleasant and helpful.
Having to pay for WIFI access and having to pay for the car par. The room had a dirty , dusty filled vent in the bathroom and there was cobwebs and dust in the room. Expected it to be immaculate for the Marriott.
Some elements of buffet breakfast cold.
We thought we eat in the restaruant instead of the bar and was very disappointed ..although empty with only a handful of people in there the food arrived cold..sent back and I presumed it was microwaved to heat it up! We heard other people complaining their food was cold!! We ordered desert and it took over half an hour to come... Would stick to bar food ... Not worth the money.
Speed of check in! (I was early though)
Went for a show at the BIC it's 5 mins walk away so ideal. It's also close to shops, restaurants and bars. The staff were freindly and attentive and after receiving what I thought a poor excuse for a superior King room the manager upgraded us to a bigger room and gave us free drink vouchers to use in the bar while we waited for it to be cleaned. The pool area is nice and clean with free towels so no having to take any from the room. Jacuzzi, sauna and steam all nice and clean. Big windows with views out to sea made it very relaxing. Breakfast was lovely and far better than usual hotel breakfasts. The choice was vast and everything hot. Proper sausages and two types of bacon with degrees of crispyness. I would definately recommend getting the breakfast inc option. Lounge areas are well decorated, warmly lit and comfortable. Perfect for relaxing in with a coffee after a breezy walk on bournmouth pier. Rooms are showing signs of wear and a bit dated but they were clean and our second room 114 was a good size with a queen bed that was comfy and had nice linen. If you want more than just a bed for the night I would recommend staying here as the facilities and hotel service is great. At £190 per night I think some of the rooms would be a let down so check which room you have booked first.
The kettle didn't reach the plug socket? Bedroom decor was slightly dated.
We had sttayed at this hotel previously choosing it as it is very close to the BIC,the reception, lounges and bar areas are very comfortable and the staff generally very helpful.
My adult daughter and I had requested atwin room in the main building,we were given aroom on the top floor ,an attic room with an extemely small window well above head level, the temperature that day was high, while in the room we had to have the air-conditioning fully on.Later that night when we returned to our room ,having left the a/c on we found the heat unbeararable, two small velux windows were unreachable we could not sleep at all!.the wole night was unbearable,I realised that the main vent from the kitchens was immediatelyoutside ourroom ,there was also no ventilation in the bathroom. The room was not fit for use.Imust say the problem was reconised by the duty manager and a small reduction on the room rate was given
We were given a room right at the back of the hotel overlooking the car park. The room was in the outdated area of the hotel where they hold functions. I think it was the furthest room from the main hotel. I would make sure if I stayed again to book a room in the main hotel.
the ice supplied
The A/C did not work the room was boiling, supplied broken fridge. To pay so much and to get a room like an antic complete waste of money never would come back here go to Hilton if spending such money
Its very relaxed, welcoming and clean. Lovely location and amazing breakfast.
Third time stayed there the parking was free. When we stayed there last week in almost the exact same room we had a bill put under the door for £20 parking. They did not say we had to pay when we arrived. Make sure you look at the small print before you go.
Views are stunning Fitness centre and pool very good Staff very nice and helpful.
For the price the Junior suite could do with a makeover! 15 pound for wifi is ridiculous.
Comfort and cleanliness
Hotel was like a maze - got lost a few times
Location & helpful friendly staff. The restaurant was very reasonably priced.
Like most hotels charging for wifi in room is wrong.
Great hotel, delicious food, comfortable rooms and very helpful staff made for a very relaxing weekend away. Swimming pool and jacuzzi were an added bonus and were exceptionally clean with great facilities. Sea view was just stunning.
The only real problem was car parking, not enough spaces for the size of the hotel so arrive early to guarantee a parking space. Car parking also cost £10 a day even if you are staying at hotel. Very expensive I think.
Wonderful location with sea views. Attentive staff and the most excellent breakfast.
In a room that cost £200 I would have liked a seating area, somewhere to relax.
It was closed to the water
This is not Marriott style and class
Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location looking out onto the sea. Breakfast was very good too. Room was excellent.
We had a new starter checking us into the hotel, which ended up taking around 30 minutes. Also, even though it was 5.30 we were told that the rooms hadn't been checked off, so we also had to wait for that.
The friendliness of staff. Allowed us to really relax. Food excellent.
Expensive car parking.
Great location beautiful hotel, very central, loved it and will revisit x helpful bell boy really friendly x
We tried to change out room and requested some support .. Didn't find the staff on the central number as helpful as the staff on Site... We would have liked a price match of other sites that were cheaper!! We returned to the hotel late on Saturday and the staff had wrapped the pumps in cling fm and were ready to leave, they did serve us a drink but the young lady did not appear happy... Whilst we were being served at least another 15 people entered the bar for drinks... It was not very welcoming looking at cling filmed beer pumps ! Insufficient Car parking... Bar staff poor, slow service .. Very pleasant staff just slow
Great staff, very helpful and welcoming. Food excellent.
Sea views. Close to pier and cliff lift. Good breakfasts.
Parking charge of £10 per day.
Great position to walk down the beach and/or into town. Lovely indoor pool/spa and outdoor pool which we used all day on the Sunday in brilliant sunshine. Delicious full English breakfast. Had a fantastic weekend overall and would certainly return.
Having to pay £10 car park fees on top of the costs already incurred. Really wanted a room with proper sea view and near the pool facilities. But, that did not really detract from a very good weekend !
breakfast was excellent.
had asked :on day 1: for an extra pillow this did not arrive during our stay.
Service was good and friendly
That the mini bar in the room started to omit an awful chemical smell - luckily we were in room and managed to get out. My elderly mother was staying there and had it happened overnight it may have been disastrous. Did not pre-book massages and were unable to have them.
Swimming Pool Breakfast Nice Hotel
Booked three superior rooms and as the hotel was full booked they tried to pass off a standard room as a superior room, eventually sorted it out!
