Opened on Queen Victoria's coronation day in June 1838, the Royal Bath Hotel was the first hotel in Bournemouth. It features 3 hotel restaurants, a health spa and lovely sea views.
Score from 1904 reviews Good

On the seafront, overlooking Bournemouth Bay, this modern and uniquely styled hotel features a 1930s Art Deco style, a seasonal outdoor heated pool, a day spa, and a lido deck.

Centrally located on Bournemouth's West Cliff, the 4-star Connaught Lodge is just 320 yards from the top of the cliffs and a 5-minute walk from the BIC, Pavilion, and the thriving center of the town.
Score from 604 reviews Very good
big, comfortable room. Very quiet too.
The staff were very welcoming and helpful, the hotels location is amazing overlooking the sea, breakfast was superb even on a very busy December weekend, lovely and clean and comfortable room, after our third visit to this hotel, we will definitely be back .
Car parking charges were extra!
Everyone was extremely helpful, while the whole hotel was warm, clean and comfortable.
We arrived at just the right time to grab the last place in the car park at 3.30pm. Any later and parking out in the street would have been a nightmare.
Great reception and concierge team. Location
- food quality poor. Bread in lunch sandwich was dry/stale. - service in lounge bar slow, halting and disappointing. - limited comfy seating in the warmth. Lobby too cold. - breakfast cremated. No bread out for toast. - shower in cottage room poor with inadequate curtain quite horrible. - bed soggy and too soft
I asked at the desk for the internet password for the Dorchester suite, they replied after along search & delay,i would have to pay for it (as I was providing the music for Ciris party)in the end I spoke to a manageress who instantly printed me the password & also connected my laptop to the wifi.(who was english
at the reception they do not understand English, question from customers were not understood.would be good to have English staff on the reception. English Hotel (keep it british)
Staff were very friendly, very good location and the restaurant was good value for money with their fixed price meal deals. Room was good, would have been better with a sea view but guess you need to pay top dollar for that. Indoor swimming pool was a big hit with our 18 month old son. All in all, highly recomended
Had to carry push chair up small set of steps to lift
The staff and view
Getting my car damaged by some idiot on their car park and paying for it.
Room was spacious, bathroom had a bathtub, hotel was immaculate. We had a fantastic sea view room. We had fantastic dinner with locally sourced ingredients which is always a massive plus. Breakfast was hot and the continental option was wholesome. Great value for money
Breakfast was lovely , staff very friendly, warm and welcoming , brilliant view from our sea view room.
Having to pay for wi.fi and £10 car parking .
Visited the pool and there was no towels available , was told they would be here in a minute !!! We waited a hour still no towels !! There was a massive pile of dirty ones in the changing rooms though . Staff didn't seem to know what they was doing and the waitress at breakfast never smiled once !!! Not what we expected from a Marriott !
Very good hotel
Needed a bit of paint here and there and drinks at bar could be cheaper
We had a sea view room and the views were gorgeous. All the staff were friendly attentive and efficient without exception. The superior room was comfortable and it was great to have TWO armchairs in a twin room. Such a change. Breakfast very good and our evening meal in the restaurant delicious. A very pleasant short stay.
Having to pay for WiFi access in this day and age is not good especially as mine was a half business half leisure stay. The bathroom would have benefited from a magnifying mirror and a loo brush - but these are only minor niggles.
The food was excellent
Lovely spacious big room, side view of the sea. Lovely kingsize bed , shower or bath to choose from. Staff very pleasant and helpful.
Having to pay for WIFI access and having to pay for the car par. The room had a dirty , dusty filled vent in the bathroom and there was cobwebs and dust in the room. Expected it to be immaculate for the Marriott.
Some elements of buffet breakfast cold.
We thought we eat in the restaruant instead of the bar and was very disappointed ..although empty with only a handful of people in there the food arrived cold..sent back and I presumed it was microwaved to heat it up! We heard other people complaining their food was cold!! We ordered desert and it took over half an hour to come... Would stick to bar food ... Not worth the money.
Speed of check in! (I was early though)
Went for a show at the BIC it's 5 mins walk away so ideal. It's also close to shops, restaurants and bars. The staff were freindly and attentive and after receiving what I thought a poor excuse for a superior King room the manager upgraded us to a bigger room and gave us free drink vouchers to use in the bar while we waited for it to be cleaned. The pool area is nice and clean with free towels so no having to take any from the room. Jacuzzi, sauna and steam all nice and clean. Big windows with views out to sea made it very relaxing. Breakfast was lovely and far better than usual hotel breakfasts. The choice was vast and everything hot. Proper sausages and two types of bacon with degrees of crispyness. I would definately recommend getting the breakfast inc option. Lounge areas are well decorated, warmly lit and comfortable. Perfect for relaxing in with a coffee after a breezy walk on bournmouth pier. Rooms are showing signs of wear and a bit dated but they were clean and our second room 114 was a good size with a queen bed that was comfy and had nice linen. If you want more than just a bed for the night I would recommend staying here as the facilities and hotel service is great. At £190 per night I think some of the rooms would be a let down so check which room you have booked first.
The kettle didn't reach the plug socket? Bedroom decor was slightly dated.
We had sttayed at this hotel previously choosing it as it is very close to the BIC,the reception, lounges and bar areas are very comfortable and the staff generally very helpful.
My adult daughter and I had requested atwin room in the main building,we were given aroom on the top floor ,an attic room with an extemely small window well above head level, the temperature that day was high, while in the room we had to have the air-conditioning fully on.Later that night when we returned to our room ,having left the a/c on we found the heat unbeararable, two small velux windows were unreachable we could not sleep at all!.the wole night was unbearable,I realised that the main vent from the kitchens was immediatelyoutside ourroom ,there was also no ventilation in the bathroom. The room was not fit for use.Imust say the problem was reconised by the duty manager and a small reduction on the room rate was given
We were given a room right at the back of the hotel overlooking the car park. The room was in the outdated area of the hotel where they hold functions. I think it was the furthest room from the main hotel. I would make sure if I stayed again to book a room in the main hotel.
the ice supplied
The A/C did not work the room was boiling, supplied broken fridge. To pay so much and to get a room like an antic complete waste of money never would come back here go to Hilton if spending such money
Its very relaxed, welcoming and clean. Lovely location and amazing breakfast.
Third time stayed there the parking was free. When we stayed there last week in almost the exact same room we had a bill put under the door for £20 parking. They did not say we had to pay when we arrived. Make sure you look at the small print before you go.
Views are stunning Fitness centre and pool very good Staff very nice and helpful.
For the price the Junior suite could do with a makeover! 15 pound for wifi is ridiculous.
