The Bower Hotel  

Reception staff very helpful. The rooms are a good size with tea and coffee facilities. My starter at dinner was a seafood chowder which was sensational and the tea is excellent.

The walls are thin and I could hear my neighbouring rooms conversations and movements very well - hence not a good night's sleep. The restaurant staff are young and inexperienced. At breakfast my coffee was forgotten and my toast arrived cold and without any jam or honey. Small things but important when you have a long day ahead. In fairness the hotel in under renovations which is causing disruption to normal services.

Suited our purpose - just

Dining room staff lacked warmth at breakfast - generally the environment was not particularly hospitable Shower pressure was unreliable - indeed it competely dried up

Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, rooms was really big and spacious and very clean, nice atmosphere, everything in the room that we needed big private bathroom, good prices at bar for drinks, really enjoyed our stay would defo stay there again

Comfortable, friendly staff, good food, nice decor, good location for all amenities.

very good value for money

I have been using the Bower Hotel on & off for many years now, so has family members too. My husband & I had a bar meal around 6.30pm, which was good, drinks still expensive, but then so are most hotels these days. I feel its time it had a "wee face lift" to bring up to today's standards, but all in all, I have stayed in far worse. Out of 10, I'd score my recent stay a 6.

A good welcome on arrival and very good bar food

The only real problem was that the WiFi in my room was very weak and it was not possible to get a reliable connection

More homely than travelodge or premier inn

The Bower Hotel was a great find on Booking.com. Two friends, my husband and I were in Manchester to watch the National Squash championships at Sport City. I believe we have converted our 2 friends to stay at the hotel from now on when they stay in Manchester next. The hotel staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable, particularly bringing us trays of tea in the lounge! :)

They didn't have a hairdryer in each of the rooms, but dud have an iron. My friend needed a hairdryer the day of our departure.

We booked for 2 nights and when we got there they upgraded us to an executive suite. The rooms are nice, staff are very helpful and nothing is too much to ask. We had a lovely stay at the Bower and will book to stay there again in the future.
