Good location if one wants to visit Wells and the cathedral. There was a problem with the electricity so that not having the possibility to have dinner at the hotel. Didn't find the hotel cosy and attractive.

Very quite location. Lovely old house so much nicer than staying in a "faceless" chain hotel. Just a ten minute drive to the beautiful city of Wells. Charming personal service. As the hotel doesn't serve food Sunday evenings it would have been nice to have had perhaps some cheese, crackers and fruit etc. in the room fridge which guests could use and pay for. The only thing in the fridge other than drinks were some maltesers! There is no other possibility of eating in the village since the pub opposite the hotel doesn't do food Sunday evenings either. Missed opportunity there.

The hotel is in a Georgian building and the hotel style is traditional and comfortable. The ensuite bathroom in our room (large shower rather than bath) was modern and everything worked. The food was good, nice quality and not over-elaborate. The staff and the service were excellent. Good value for money, We would use it again. The public areas were a bit on the gloomy side.

A comfortable and restful hotel. Excellent service from manager and staff, nothing was too much trouble. Excellent and beautifully presented meals at reasonable price. A very pleasant stay. We had one of the attic rooms which was rather cramped as there were three beds in it. Also only skylight windows so no view.

Friendliness, full of character and excellent food. The hotel was very clean and in keeping with its period of Georgian. Quite and delightful spot with gardens. The reception on arrival was second to none and the staff attentive at all times. Would thoroughly recommend for business trips or holidays. Car parking opposite side of the road and creaky floorboards, but, both was in keeping with the property.

i stayed at bowlish house for two nights with my two teenage children in the family room. the room itself was very comfortable and the ensuite shower room was of a good size which was an added bonus. it was all very clean and comfortable. the manager was very welcoming and helpful. included in the price was a continental breakfast which was supurb value. there was plenty of choice and i would highly recomend the fresh fruit platter and the freshly baked coissants.all in all it was great value and i would definately pay a return visit.

The room, bathroom and dressing room were large and beautifully furnished. Shower and dressing room in particular where both excellent. Very large flat screen tv which made a change from the usual tiny screens in most hotels.

My wife and myself liked everything that we experienced at Bowlish House; the warm welcome, the excellent service, spotless room, food, ambience, all were faultless. We shall certainly stay again. We found nothing to dislike about Bowlish House.

I decided to book with you because you were situated well away from traffic. My wife cannot sleep if she can hear road traffic. It turned out to be perfectly quiet and neither of us heard a sound all night. I was also pleased you gave table service at breakfast, I do not like self service it's too hectic first thing in the morning. If you must have a complaint the only thing that I can think of is that the bathroom door jammed on the carpet which was a bit annoying. This was compensated for by having a beautiful garden. One other thing if I have to be picky is that I would have liked a snack about 7pm but I did not find the dining menu until the following morning on the hall table. Could I suggest this could be placed in the bedroom.

It was a different style of accomodation and was very relaxed and friendly. Loads of history to the building. The squeeky floors were a bit much, but it is a very old building.

A lovely period property with great food, fabulous food and friendly staff I would recommend Bowlish House if you are looking for a relaxing retreat that feels like home. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived and would happily return if we visit the area again. The limited head room we were warned about in the family room was no problem for my partner who is south of 6 feet tall and the en-suite was a good size, it was also immaculately clean which is more than I can say about some places I have stayed in. A great find!

Very friendly, gorgeous house, excellent food, good location, all together really good, we'd stay again like a shot. One chair in the bedroom isn't enough for 2 people in a twin room - but of course, one doesn;t want the room cluttered weither, so I can see the problem both ways.

The comfortable large room, bags of character and this come with the problems of old historic buildings. Nevertheless clean and tidy. Gfm as very well furnished. Easy access to Wells. Used for an overnight stop when traveling to Cornwall. Cooked breakfast has a surcharge and was not good value for £7.00 but given the room is very competative rate, the combined factors represent vfm. It is in Shepton Mallet! When the restaurant is not open on a Sunday you need to drive to Wells.

The staff were personable, helpful, accomodating and made us feel very welcome. We had the four poster room which was lovely, we were told during our stay that this room was about to be restored which we look forward to see on our next trip to the Glastonbury Festival. On the strength of the presentation of the breakfast we would very much like to see the quality of the food on the evening menu.

Staying at Bowlish is an amazing experience. The 6 individual rooms are full of character ranging from a four poster bed to a sleigh bed. The food is mitchelin star quality at a very reasonable price. The service is personal and welcoming.

“Staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The food was superb as was the relaxed ambience. Think chunky wooden tables, roaring fire and flickering candles. I would highly recommend this place to stay or just to eat. ” Joanna, Bubwith |
