Breakfast-time. It was a noisy, rugby scrum, not assisted by fairly loud, thumping background 'music'. The cold buffet was poorly presented with limited choice. Whilst the hot buffet had the usual 'English breakfast' choices, the food was contained in dishes under lamps, and was invariably tepid, not helped by being loaded onto cold plates. However, when heated under a grill by the chef, the food was tasty.
Our room (211) was a reasonable size, but overlooked a terraced area where guests drank, smoked and made a lot of noise on Sunday. Evening meals were good, but not exceptional. Staff were generally pleasant and helpful, although it seemed to take three or four of them to ask a similar question, "Have you been given a menu? Have you ordered?" etc. There are some good wines on the list, reasonably priced.
