Boxmoor Lodge Hotel  

The food in the restaurant was good. Hotel staff in the evening (I arrived at 9pm) were very good, friendly and accommodating.

The water was cold next morning. I had to shower in cold water - absolutely primitive - last time it happened to me was 30 years ago. I really thought those days were over. My guest in another room also had cold water. On complaining the morning staff didn't know how to handle the complaint. They wanted to inform me what went wrong - about getting a plumber etc. They didn't realise that that was their problem - my problem was cold water - could they get me to another room / shower where I could have a warm shower didn't enter into their mind. How could they help me was not part of their mindset. I insisted that they reduce mine and my guests bilsl which they did begrudgingly. The manager - rolled his eyes, shook his head and walked away. They shouldn't be in the hotel trade.

Veteran breakfast was bland, though more than adequate in size.

Food was excellent. The room was very well equiped.

100% adequate. Very clean and tidy, just can't fault. Small but comfy bar area and dining area was nicely decorated. It's not a large 4 start hotel with all mod cons but would choose over a Travel Inn or hi Express...

The Hotel is a 3 minute walk from the Railway Station which was the only reason I stayed there as there are other Hotels locally that would have been less expensive and offered better facilities. Brekfast finishing at 09:00 is a little on the early side for a Hotel. Breakfast was good. Some of the facilities are now a little dated. Would stay again if the location was the issue.

Location was a priority and it was perfect . The twin room met the needs of my aged brother. The food was excelent.

Our room was not made up the second day of our stay and inspite of being the only overnight guests from Sunday into Monday we were not availed of the English Breakfast after 9:00AM as we had over the weekend.

Thank you for a great night, we loved the room we had an upgrade to a four poster, and the full english breakfast, my girlfriend loved the location, and as I proposed that night,now she is my fiancee! thank you for a great experience. & staff were excellent. Will be back Oli & Angela ;)

The room was very clean and reasonable for price and overall lovely place to stay.

No complaints on behalf of the hotel just annoying that my bank account has taken the hotel money twice out of my account during a credit check to make sure funds were available to book. But the hotel staff were very helpful and this is not down to them this has occured. So thank you.

The rooms were lovely and especially warm. The lounge was pleasant and restful. The look of the establishment external and internal was pleasant.

Breakfast on the first morning was a little make shift. Porridge was like wall paper paste. We only had breakfast on both days, the second day was ok but not brilliant. Good days start with a good breakfast!!

the lodge had good parking facilities very clean and airy rooms breakfast was excellent staff were very attentive and friendly.

It was such a pleasent surprise to find it so near the station as mentioned and well sign posted. The staff were efficiant, friendly and helpful. The room was clean and had a nice smell to it, nice comfortable bed. The hot water was available all the time. The food I had brought to my room as the restaurant was full. No wonder, excellant.

The curtain to the door would fall off the rail, passers by could look in.
