Pleasant staff, good breakfast
We liked everything about the hotel, the weather wasn't very kind but i imagine in summer the views would be great.
The only problem we had wasour bed and pillows to hard for my liking.
I had a nice single room on the front of the building with a pleasant view towards the Pentland Hills.
The bed was right up against one wall with the wooded headboard against the other wall which made a noise every time I leaned against it. Although clean, when I pulled the bedclothes up around my face, there was a sort of 'chemical' smell which was quite unpleasant. The staff were pleasant and friendly but there seemed to be some confusion with orders at breakfast, although it wasn't busy at the time.
The friendly staff, nice room with very comfortable beds and excellent choices for breakfast.
Our bathroom, for some reason, self locked but was fixed as soon as we reported it.
Friendly service from front desk throughout the whole hotel.Room service excellent service. Great breakfast. Could not fault anything.
Nothing everything great.
Very friendly staff,nice location
Had a meal in restaurant waiting to long and didn't cook steak right had to send it back
The staff were very friendly and helpful. I had reason to check in earlier than 3pm and the staff were very accommodating by having the room ready. The room was very spacious and clean and the bed quite comfortable. The noise factor overnight was minimum enabling a good nights sleep. There is a good timescale for breakfast, 7am-10am and was a buffet type, well laid out and well cooked. A good hotel to stay at in Edinburgh.
The only problem I had was the parking. I would suggest normally that parking spaces are sufficient but I was there on a function night so quite obviously the spaces filled quite quickly and I had difficulty parking on my return to the hotel that night. Nothing else to note.
Location was good however parking was a nightmare.
Staff were cold and felt like we were bothering them. Grumpy and annoyed in demeanour. Didn't feel welcome.
Excellent value for money, very clean staff very friendly and helpful.
Shower wasn't the best.
the ground floor and public areas are lovely. the restaurant is good.
the upper floors and the rooms themselves are in need of a refurbishment
The Staff were so friendly and helpful. The meals were great!
Only that there was no view from the bedroom window.
Every thing apart from the one thing I didn't Brrrr
There was no heating in the bathroom!
Friendly and helpful staff.
Room cramped, especially bathroom.
Staff Breakfast Location
Lack of lift Old plumbing Luke warm water after running shower for 10 mins
the staff were overwhelmed one morning by the sheer volume of people that decided to come in for breakfast at the same time, it was not there fault, but was not a pleasant experience. Staff tried to be as helpful as possible
Poor treatment over request and unsatisfactory explanation.
Friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, pleasant and relaxing. ambience.
£9 for a small Highland Park malt whisky
Great location. Very easy to travel by bus to Edinburgh city. Rooms comfortable and clean.
First class reception and restaurant staff for both dinner and breakfast. Good value and interesting dinner. good quality breakfast
Would like to have seen some of the excellent fish; kippers, Arbroath smokies and Finnie Haddock, which Scotland offers on the breakfast menu
Good for the purpose of our visit.
recently updated commons areas
poor bedrooms with old furnishings
Quiet, impressive stonework, nice view, near Heritage Park, easy access from ring road.
Hard to see the exact entrance in the dark
Location, charming building.
The decor in the dining room - spoiled since redecoration. Used to be bright and traditional. No table cloths. Awful plastic sachets of butter and marmalade. The hugely frustrating D-I-Y toaster - evryone grimaces when they see these awful machines !! It lets the hotel down.
Very friendly and helpful reception staff. Hotel most convenient for ring road and sad visit to Mortonhall crematorium, so not a great deal of attention paid to other benefits of hotel.
