poor bedrooms with old furnishings
Quiet, impressive stonework, nice view, near Heritage Park, easy access from ring road.
Hard to see the exact entrance in the dark
Location, charming building.
The decor in the dining room - spoiled since redecoration. Used to be bright and traditional. No table cloths. Awful plastic sachets of butter and marmalade. The hugely frustrating D-I-Y toaster - evryone grimaces when they see these awful machines !! It lets the hotel down.
Very friendly and helpful reception staff. Hotel most convenient for ring road and sad visit to Mortonhall crematorium, so not a great deal of attention paid to other benefits of hotel.
Location. Adequate car parking space. Extremely helpful Staff, especially at reception. Just a little disappointed with view from bedroom. Hotel`s interior décor clean and tasteful. Food good - especially breakfast. Would definitely come again.
No lifts. Otherwise no complaints worthy of mention.
Great Breakfast Attentive staff Location Decor Ambiance Car Parking Value for Money Will stay again as we liked the revamp since our last visit.
In house music too loud. Not required. Poor value for money in the Bistro. No toilet roll holder in the bathroom. No Satellite TV. If you are in the slightest infirm, request a room on the first floor.
Very attentive friendly staff, always there to help. Smart looking hotel with the character of an old Manor house style. Breakfast a good hearty start for the days events of site-seeing. Bus stop outside for Edinburgh, or taxis there for you in 10 mins. Good room refurbished over the newly built annex bar/eatery. Good value and would return.
Would have preferred to have stayed in the main hotel to enjoy the ambiance of the historical building, however no rooms available, hence placed in the annex above the new bar complex. May get a bit noisy with cooking smells in the height of the summer!
elegantly looking from outside surrounding view is green and fantastic faraway from mainroad quiet. bus 11， 15 just outside，bus 11 leads directly to princess road breakfast is good. Big room, service is good. Wifi is good
From the outside and entrance/reception area it looked like a very nice hotel. Location was ok for access to city though Best Western Bruntsfield would have been better.
Room was quite nicely furnished but was small with a tiny shower (not bath) room. Access to the room was, for some inexplicable reason, down a v poorly lit corridor. The view was of a wall and drain pipe. Dining service was poor. There was little or nothing on display at breakfast with 45 min of service time remaining. Had to ask for the basics of bacon and eggs and waited quite some time for it to arrive.
Lounge area and restaurant
It felt welcoming and relaxing. The breakfast was very good as expected, and special diet catered for.
Rather small room. But still good value
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and spacious with very comfortable beds. Amazing views. Fantastic stay.
Excellent wifi connection Staff were extremely helpful
Room was up two flights of stairs and although well kitted out was a bit cramped
3 Visit and had a great time. Food is really good quality
Good food and drink at reasonable prices. Room had everything that I needed and was very comfortable. Excellent breakfast!
Quite a good location.
Very much set up for business people. Impersonal.Breakfast was particularly un-Scottish and something to be done with as quickly as possible
A nice old building with a lot of character. Nice location. Not far from the town but very quite area. Little or no traffic noise. Reception staff very helpful. Buffet breakfast was very good. For once a hotel shower that runs hot and has plenty pressure. Will recommend to friends and will definitely stay again.
We did not have any major issues worth the mention. All in all a positive experience.
View, staff and food were all fantastic!
Bar Entrance Hall Reception Dining Room
Long wait for hot water to arrive in the room Water stopped running whilst in the shower. Receptionist was not concerned there was no water! Buffet breakfast was almost empty, and had to wait for refill.
Bus stop outside Hotel , Bus every 10mins. Only £1/50 for any distance. Car parking in Hotel car park.
One small complaint, water power was quite low when taking a shower.
No POWER SHOWER,,,, ACTUALLY NO POWER AT ALL WITH SHOWER
very friendly and lovely hotel . Meal was excellent
View from my room was off car park would have liked to face the front next time . But it's doesn't say what view your room has
Staff were very good and eager to please. Food was excellent. Rooms good.
My bed was very hard and uncomfortable..got worse each night until I reached the stage that I couldn't have stayed another night on it. On arrival there was a wedding function which meant that we either had to go up a floor and then back down or go round the outside of the hotel to avoid spoiling th wedding party. We are both disabled and we found this very hard to do, especially as there was no lift to help us.
I booked at very short notice and arrived after 11pm. The night receptionist was very helpful and showed me to my room. I would stay there again
Everything was good - nothing I didn't like
