BEST WESTERN Braid Hills Hotel  

Liked the hotel a lot, would definitely stay again. We thought breakfast was very good.

Our evening meal was only average.

comfortable bed and breakfast was a high standard

my initial room (309) had no shower and the mixer unit was broken so I had to change room my second room was much better and had a working power shower

No lift and lots of stairs. Room was very small and view of a brick wall. Hall ways quite dark. Parking very tight and crowded.

Best value for money hotel in Edinburgh. Good location - on main bus route. Friendly staff, very clean. Couldn't really ask for more at this price.

the staff were very obliging we asked for a front facing view and got it - our room was spacious and bright. Lovely fresh cooked breakfast Easy access to city centre but the local shops are worth a browse as are the local restaurants. Great for golfers too!

The hotel is going through a refurb so the bar area wasn't great but from what we saw from the parts that had been refurbished it will be lovely

1. The staff were very welcoming, charming and polite. Really nice service in every area of the hotel. 2. Good dinner in restaurant. Very nice food. 3. Very spacious room, which was very clean and consumables such as coffee replenished daily.

Having limited mobility, I didn't like the amount of stairs needed to get to our room (Room 102). There was a shorter way through the Function Room but that was awkward if a function was in progress, which was the case on the day of arrival. The function meant that there was no available parking so my husband had to drop me off and park at some distance, which meant that he had to walk back up the steep drive even though he also has mobility problems. There appears to be only 1 disabled bay, which was already taken. I appreciate that with limited parking that you wouldn't want to have more disabled bays, thereby restricting other guests.

Atmosphere

Fire evacuation was haphazzard Self service breakfast was chaotic Room small and poorly organised Bistro meal was poor - lasagne was bland and tasteless. Staff did not check during meal if everything was OK

Pleasant staff; exceptionally clean room; well stocked coffee, tea, etc.; good breakfast; excellent location to get into the city.

Poor shower pressure; having to go upstairs to go back down again due to there being a function in the 'through' room on one evening.

The staff were so friendly, welcoming and helpful. Good choice of food in the bistro; quick service. Large, comfortable room.

It was rather far from the centre, though on two good bus routes. It would be helpful to mention in the description that there is a bus stop at the foot of some steps leading directly up to the hotel - the driver set me down at a stop from where I had quite a long walk round by the road.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and found that it was the perfect locatin for us. The staff were great and the room was wonderful.

Staff were very helpful and friendly. Evening meal and breakfast were both good with prompt staff service and nice wine.

Hotel needs re-vamping, shower pressure was poor, en-suite needs update soon!

The very friendly staff and relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and although the staff were very busy at breakfast time they remained VERY polite and helpful at all times (there was the inevitable demanding guest who, horror of horrors, had to wait for some toast! )We were helping our son and wife move into the flat they had bought just down the road from the hotel so it was nice to get a comfortable nights sleep and excellent breakfast as we were tired after a long journey to Edinburgh and unpacking dozens of boxes...we would definitely stay again...many thanks...

Friendly staff, near to the edinburgh castle. Very clean and cozy hotel

Great location for the city, just a short walk to all amenities. Very friendly, helpful staff. Beds were very comfortable, conducive to a good nights rest. I liked being able to regulate the temperature of the room. Well equipped room.

Bathroom was a little small. Window didn't seem to keep out all the traffic noise but not a huge problem.

The hotel offered very good value for money for a trip to Edinburgh. It was easy to find, with useful parking (sometimes full, but it was possible to park on the roadside), and there was a bus-stop right outside with a very regular service. The breakfast was very good indeed, especially for a buffet-style hot breakfast, which is often a bit disappointing. Everything here was lovely and fresh, and other options were readily available. The room was a little cramped, but we did book last minute during the Easter holiday, so other rooms may be better. It was, however, comfortable and clean. I would be happy to stay here again.

We had dinner in the restaurant one evening, and although it was a nice setting, and the food was ok, it did seem to be overpriced for what we got. Better to go into Edinburgh.

The food, both dinner and breakfast was excellent. The view from the dinning room and bedroom.

Cold tea and coffee at breakfast. Please bring back the individual teapots. The bedroom was cold. Radiators never on. Lack of water pressure for shower. No lift.

The staff were exteremely helpful to accommodate me when I complained about noise from a wedding that was on at night. Good food in the restaurant. Comfortable clean rooms. I had a lovely view on the park from my room.

New arrangements for breakfast in dining room. We left some written suggestions with Manager. Also lacks a lift!
