Access good, bus stops just outside, on main road in/out of Edinburgh Car parking fine. Breakfast reasonably good. Friendly & helpful receptionist and breakfast staff.

Room small, bathroom & shower primitive, not as clean as should be. Carpet in room old & needing renewed. No facilities nearby. Three floors, but no lift. Price expensive for what we got, but admittedly still competitive compared to generally inflated Edinburgh weekend hotel prices.

I was in room 302 - great view!! I have stayed in this room before (about 6 months ago) and had to be moved as the room smelled of vomit. Unfortuntately, the room still smelt faintly of vomit. Had to keep the window open slightly to keep the air fresh in the room. The menu selection for room service is limited and does not change.

The staff were very helpful, and the four poster bed was so comfortable!

I was disappointed to note that the spa bath had been disconnected in our room.

Reception staff were friendly and efficient. My room had a corner location with great views over the city, and was very spacious and comfortable, temperature was ideal for me, and it was very quiet. Breakfast was one of the best, cooked to order and well presented. I will definitely be back!

Our stay at the Braid Hills Hotel was nothing short of special. The staff were friendly, charming and resourceful from the outset and throughout the duration of our stay. The room we enjoyed was simply breathtaking with stunning period features and a fabulous view. There is a reasonable bistro adjacent to the hotel, a bus stop for the city centre literally across the road and a petrol station close by. If you are looking for an Edinburgh hotel with real ambience and character to enhance your city experience, Braid Hills Hotel more than fits the bill.

The hotel is a good twenty minute taxi ride away from the city centre so be prepared for the odd expensive taxi journey. On average, we paid around £15 each way. There are no elevators serving the hotel but don't let this put you off - the stairs are in no way daunting and the staff are more than accommodating should you require assistance. There was no fridge in our room but, again, the staff went out of their way to ensure this was not a problem.

Bathroom could be just a little cleaner and the bathwater a little hotter mid morning.

Room 223 was the quietest hotel room I have ever enjoyed!
