Great secluded setting and a lovely quiet location to get away from it all. Our room was warm and cosy on the cold evening. Understandably this is more geared towards businesses and weddings but we had a lovely break and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is near to the village but because of the hill and busy road access we needed to get a taxi to go into the village for the evening. The building is a little misleading with a medieval frontage but a 70's mix of a boat themed interior and conference centre. The decor could do with an update, it's a shame that the exterior setting is not reflected in the interior. The rooms are well presented but again the bathroom is looking tired.

The bed we had was probably the most comfortable hotel bed I have slept in for a while and as someone with a chronic back problem I appreciate that more than anything. The storage was very limited but for 1 night it didn't really matter to us

We stayed for two nights and were more than satisfied , The staff were very efficient and helpfull the first night we were in room 123 and at 7am were woken by the dust cart and then several delivery vehicles . I asked at reception to be moved and we were given room114 this was much quieter . The staff were more than happy to help. Overall a very pleasant stay. Our first room was situated directly above the delivery access ramp and was therefore very noisey first thing in the morning we were given a different room next day ..

We stayed for a wedding nearby and we were allowed the check in early which was great. Breakfast was also very good. The main bedroom was nice and looked recently redecorated however the bathroom was not up to the same standard and really needed some updating,it looked a bit grotty.

The staff were very friendly and very pleasant. The hotel looked very tired and worn. It was quite basic which I wasn't expecting from the decription and photos. The hotel needs a refurbishment to bring it up to standard.

Fair for the price in the area. Stayed 1 night for a wedding at the Ramster so did not use any facilities. . Strange ship/cabin type layout of rooms. Not too bad overall. Decor a little tired. Rusty toilet brush holder. Looks better on website.

Location was close to our event and the setting (trees) are stunning. The breakfast was also good. We thought we were staying in the hotel but ended up in an outbuilding which looked like an old scout hut and appeared to have been poorly maintained. The room was not clean enough, it had single glazed windows and a puddle of water built up on the window sill by the morning, we had to share a towel (1 towel between 3 is unheard of so not sure how this is deemed acceptable), the bed was too narrow for a double and the shower was clearly 20 years old. We also didn't have biscuits in the room to go witht he tea which is a regulation in most hotels. Also the cabs ordered by the hotel appear to have been the most expensive cabs in the uk - £20 for a 12 minute journey and £30 for the same journey at 11pm (time and half...) - approx double the cost of a black cab in central London. All in all we were disappointed and may not use De Vere in the future.

The environment, the building, helpful and friendly staff. At a good price .I left a comment with reception concerning the building maintenance. This is a very nice old house. It deserves to be maintained well. I noticed that some of the external woodwork has been neglected and is rotting. Please give it the attention it needs.

The staff were ok!!! The hotel was grubby and our room was disgusting with mould on the windows, shower, and it had a dirty bathroom floor. The bedding wasn't too brilliant either, it really was quite disturbing,we didnt get any sleep as it was so noisy and we couldnt wait for morning to come so we could leave, so much so that we didn't even stay for breakfast and checked out first thing even though we had booked for 2 nights!!! Not a nice place at all, beware!!!!

The staff were very helpful and well presented. The breakfast was very good. The room we were allocated was very small, not at all like the one in the photographs, the walls were marked and we did not use the shower because it was very small and a bit grubby. I thought the grand photograph of the front of the hotel hid the actual jumble of different buildings and was quite misleading.

Cleaning products left out in the room; windows left wide open all afternoon/evening so when I returned to the room later that night, it was freezing cold; the standard of the rooms did not reflect the price.
