Location good and rooms were amazing, the staff were very friendly nothing was too much trouble for them, will definitely be returning soon!
Pretty much everything was great. The room, the bed, the bathroom, the breakfast, the grounds and location.
Not the cheapest place in Ambleside. The lodges are wood-built and very echoey - so expect to hear everything from the other rooms (especially if you are on the ground floor!). It's a bit of an unlit trek to Ambleside, and some of the roads are narrow and have no pavements.
fabulous room in a ski chalet with lovely views. very friendly staff close by to Ambleside but far enough away not to be noisy
Some people mayn't like the buffet style breakfast (reminiscent of a uni caff)(i rather liked it actually). very difficult to book as very popular
We loved our room in one of the Scandinavian lodges. It was quiet and the views were stunning.
There's nothing I didn't like.
Large room, comfortable bed, great views from room. Hot shower. All expected facilities, TV, WiFi, tea making in room. This is a 'no frills' set up but good accommodation, service and breakfast.
The room took a while to warm up
Great location overlooking lake, basic room and facilities, cracking breakfast, would stay here again
The rooms here were lovely, so beautifully presented and cosy in their own log cabins. The staff were very friendly and location excellent, very good value I would recommend this venue to anyone.
Although the reception area is somewhat hostility, once in the room (we were in one of the new lodges) the accommodation, comfort, facilities and particularly the views are all excellent. The hall only serve breakfast, but this was an all you can eat, full English buffet style. It is a good walk into Ambleside, about 20 min or so, but pleasant enough in the summer. Just do not be put off by the hostel style environment of the main buildings. The lodges are excellent.
The reception are can put you off if you don't give it chance.
Accommodation, staff, facilities and food were all as good as they were the first time we visited. New path down to the lake is a welcome addition to the extensive grounds, too.
There was nothing we didn't enjoy.
Nice and relaxing just what we needed
Nothing no complaints
Spacious comfortable room Lovely view Very comfortable bed and bedding Quiet Good breakfast Very helpful staff
Stunning views and modern and spacious.
Early check out at 10am
The location is beautiful, with a wonderful view of the Lake. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast excellent.
Lovely wooden cabin with great walks and view of windermere. Remindered me of my outward bound days here, 50 years ago. A practical place to stay in the south lakes
Nothing. You are part of an outdoor centre. So the breakfast is partly your own responsibility, but good and fresh. Bar good chatting with other guests on courses.
Location. Comfortable modern rooms.
Poor quality breakfast. Overcooked bacon, eggs cooked in vinegar, poor quality sausages, toast hard and cold. In short too much pre cooking.
The helpfulness and flexibility of the staff. Organising a group of rooms for a moving target of attendees who kept changing/cancelling would normally cause problems but in this case Rebecca made all of the changes I needed without any complaints. The rooms are very comfortable with good facilities. I'd take my wife there and that's the measure of a place.
Location is stunning
Quiet location, and serene setting away from the Bank holiday crowds. Lovely grounds and access to Windermere and Ambleside Town on foot. Very accomodating staff. Breakfast was buffet style and good quality. Room was comfortable, clean and nicely styled. Tucked away in the trees.
There was no valance on the Duvan which meant the base was visible. Also some packets of biscuits to go with the tea and coffee making would have been nice.
Good value for money. Very good breakfast. Beautiful location. Very suitable for those having an outdoor holiday.
Slightly institutional dining room.
Due to an early venue for a sports competition staff went out of their way to provide dining facilities outside their normal hours Beautiful lakeside setting with lots of wildlife.
Beautiful grounds, setting, location. On bath suite is good.
Very poor bed mattress. Small room with little shelving to put luggage.
The Scenery. The excellent facilities.
There was nothing I didn't like
The veiw of the lake was exellent. Room every thing you needed and lovely and peaceful. Would have stayed longer if possible.
