To start off with I got a very good deal. Impressive Georgian building in a beautiful location overlooking the north end of the lake (Windemere). Breakfast was very good. The literature in the room gave the impression that there was a bar open in the evening which wasn't the case (although staff were happy to get you a drink if you wanted one).

Value. Breakfast. Clean. Location. As a solo traveller, with a quiet, single en-suite room with breakfast for £35, this beats staying in the town or in a yha any day.

The staff were excellent, everything you need for a walking holiday, breakfast was excellent. Its not a 5* hotel but that would be like comparing apples and oranges, for a walking trip this ticks all the boxes

Stayed in a superior double room (Scandinavian lodge) which had lots of room and charm. We had beautiful scenery to wake up to in our cabin which faced the mountains and some of Lake Windemere. Breakfast was lovely with wonderful views over Lake Windemere.

Great for the value, we brought our two months old son with us in one of the premium apartment which was really nice and comfy, massive space with lake/mountain view. Also I booked a single room for my mum, she stayed on her own that night, the single room is OK for the value, but noise from the next door wasnt great, maybe the wall isnt thinck enough to stop noises.

Great location. Clean. Lovely staff. Warm rooms. Good breakfast. Not the fault of Brathay Hall, but ignorant, noisy residents in the adjacent room.Inconsiderate when returning in the early hours of the morning.Repeatedly shouting and slamming doors, both inside the room and outside.

Very nice staff, good rooms for the price compared with size of hostel rooms or with B&B price Not entirely sure of security. Also, cold air could pretty easily stream in through the front door, so it was a bit chilly inside

Basic, clean, good breakfast and excellent value for money in the main house. Also one of the few establishments in the area that would accept 'one night only' bookings.
