The room was spacious and very clean, the staff were very nice and the breakfast was good. The grounds were lovely and it was a pleasant 15 minute walk into Ambleside. We stayed on a Bank Holiday week-end and it was nice to be out of the busy town.
It was a little difficult to find.
room was beautiful with a lovely view overlooking Ambleside. We loved the wood walls, decor etc and the feeling of space in the room. Great bathroom too.
We didn't have a car and so had to walk in and out of Ambleside which was a 20 minute walk, but I have to say it was worth it to escape the town and enjoy the feeling of space.
Everything, lovely spot, clean and tidy
The location is great. The beds good and comfortable. The rooms spacious an clean. It feels good to be helping out the trust and I think that is important. This is less a BnB as a donation to the running of a good cause. Or at least thats what I thought.
This is less a dislike, just a surprise. The BnB is part of a youth centre and so is full of teenagers doing team building. Not a problem but it did mean the house itself is not really a place to stay. The breakfast is pretty bad as well. Everything left in trays and a little cold. For the price the breakfast is not really good enough. Also some fittings were a bit poor in the bathroom and the shower leaked.
Staff was really helpful with arranging a lake view twin room for us. The room had a very charming view of the lake Windermere, grass, trees, and sheep. The house is located in a quiet area. Big grassland in front of the house, where you can play some games, drink a little, or do some thinking while looking at the beautiful lake. In short, almost everything is good there. Great value for money. Certainly worth recommendation.
Nothing we really didn't like. The sound was a bit big when flushing the toilet. The water pressure of the shower was a bit low. But definitely acceptable.
Quiet picturesque location. It rained while we were there so we did not take advantage of the walks, lake etc. would so much like to be there on a sunny day.
Lovely place to stay only 5 minutes in the car from Ambleside, we stayed in a twin room and had a lovley view of the lake. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful - would definately recommend it to anyone wanting a peaceful break.
The location and friendly staff.
The breakfast wasn't cooked to order and so was luke warm.
Good location and view
Room was pretty hot at night when we went during summer despite we had the windows opened.
The location - view and peacefulness
nothing - ticked all the boxes!
Beautiful grounds, comfortable beds, nice room with a lovely view, friendly staff, excellent breakfast.
Overhead bed lights much too bright, wall lamps would be much better. Radiator blazing but impossible to turn off.
We really enjoyed the beautiful location, facilities and the warm welcome we received. The room was comfortable and the breakfast excellent - best poached eggs we've ever had served to us.
imposing building mountain location
car parks small access to dining room
nice looking building, views
having to go outside to reach dining room car parking a bit limited
lovely location, great rooms, nice staff
breakfast was a bit crowded and not very extensive in choice
Set in beautiful grounds. Close to lake Windermere. Lots of wildlife to see and watch. Very quiet. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Felt like you were staying in a very special place!
It would have been nice to be able to have had hot, freshly made toast.
breakfast was first class beds were comfy , and the walks were really relaxing
nothing we didn't like
The location is amazing and the views are fantastic! Staff was very very friendly and helpful. The place has a college feel and a charity for children attached - if you don't mind that (we didn't) then this is a perfect location for exploring the Lakes, with nice walks starting right on your doorstep. Breakfast was good.
Accommodation in the lodge
Bar not open at 7pm
Room was good outstanding views
No house keeping,
A great breakfast, the chef prepared me vegetarian sausages and gave me soya milk on request. The little room at the top number 8 was perfect for me , very well designed , light switches next to each bed for individual ceiling lights , 2 mirrors, good shower, heated towel rack, lovely view , very quiet, good nights sleep, lovely walk to the lake
I couldn't find the entrance easily as the sign at Brathay Hall said private and so I drove straight past but enjoyed the pretty lane before turning back and going into the private entrance which was the right one after all but otherwise, everything was great and I will return .
Space room so good
