Score from 183 reviews Very good
open doors between the crowded bar and the guest eating area.and a room change from the king size bed to double bed without any consideration for the difference
Location, breakfast and room were all good.
A bit noisy due to people leaving a party at the hotel and talking load outside the front door
Was unable to book dinner due to previously booked wedding celebration already taking place, making the dinner facilities fully booked. Traveller should be made aware of this before make a booking.
Obliging and attentive staff Good food, especially very good breakfast with a wide range of options
No actual complaints, but our (double) room was disappointingly small and looked out only on to the inside of the ruined castle walls. Kettle, tea and coffee were at floor level, crawling was needed to get at them!
Windows not hermetic, noise from the terrace, room overpriced. We booked and paid a superior quality room because no standard room were left but we had the feeling to simply get the last available room in the hotel, and we felt it...
Very clean and tidy! The food was amazing and the hotel is beautiful.
The room was lovely but a little bit on the small side. Bathroom was very clean and the soaps were great but shower pressure was not very good.
Right in Brecon, so easy access to shops, restaurants etc. Easy access to so many beautiful places
Excellent location, stunning views, character of the building, convenient parking
Lovely building in a beautiful spot.Very good food available.
We enjoyed the comfort of our room, particularly the comfortable large bed. The food in the Bistro on the whole was very good and the breakfast was delicious. Staff on the whole were helpful and friendly - particularly the breakfast staff
Desserts were commercially produced( not home made) and had been stored for too long. The lady on the reception desk in the evening was off hand and dismissive not only to us but to others as well.
food staff location price
musty smelling room, cracked tiles, flaking paint, 1970's/80's bath & shower
particularly helpful, restaurant and front/back office. The views are superb and the food quality was as consistently good as previously.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
Internal décor in corridors was in need of refreshing.
Shower drain blocked.Beds not made daily. Towels not changed daily. attic room for mature tall gentleman!! Ordered hard boiled eggs and got soft eggs. More expensive than St David's Cardiff value for money.
Staff were great, helpful and polite food was excellent
Parking a little difficult.
Helpful staff, found safe keeping for my cycle. Real ale in bar. Good choice for breakfast.
Noise from bar and car park. Unable to get table for evening meal. No clock in room.
No real complaints. Ideal base for a weekends adventures. Breakfast really good.
There was a feeling of uncertainty about the place. Bar staff (not all I hasten to add) seemed to be intent on remaining number 1, appearing to be on a bit of a jolly and arguably looking busy when perhaps could have paid more attention to customers i.e. smiling + clearing tables? Table service in the immediate bar area should be a serious consideration.
The bedroom was fantastic, the view was amazing, rooms decorated to a high standard, the staff were very helpful
The bathroom in our bedroom was awful compared to the bedroom itself the shower barely worked and the comparison between the room standard and the bathroom were at opposite ends of the scale!!!
The staff were all so friendly and couldn't do enough for you. It was lovely just to relax with coffee in one of the lounges or on the patio or beautiful lawn.
THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE AND FRIENDLENESS OF THE HOTEL AND STAFF WAS WORTH THE VISIT. EXCELLENT!!!!!!!
Walking distance to Brecon town centre. Excellent breakfasts. Nice patio and garden terrace. Lovely bedroom (superior room though)
Our room was upstairs with no lift facility. Can't comment on other parts of hotel.
Rooms clean and spacious Car parking Good wi fi access
Always slow at breakfast and getting order wrong - Happened a few times now
excellent situation, scenic views
rooms could do with a bit of updating
Location and friendly staff.
King size bed was 2 single mattresses pushed together. Refused food service at 8.50 due to understaffed. 2nd sept.
Bedroom and en suite were comfortable and facilities good. Evening meal was tasty, staff were friendly and flexible when we arrived late. Lovely location and free Wifi.
Fuse went when showering! I was covered in soap and had to splash bath tap water to rinse. Cooked breakfast cost extra. Fruit salad with continental breakfast only contained apple, pear and orange. Some decor needed freshening up e.g. Leaking roof stains visible.
