Generally a very comfortable place to stay and the proprietors very obliging. David is on his own wave length - aren't we all ? but very kind. Don't forget it is his home as well as yours.
I thought that a single room at £45 B&B was a shade too much. Possibly booking direct to David at say £35 & pro rata for other rooms would more than double the turnover of Brenden Chaise.
Very friendly and helpful host, nice clean rooms, good breakfast!
The Location and the facilities in the surrounding
Common Bath room and Toilet
The location of the hotel was in the heart of town centre and all the shops were on walking distance.
The owner was very blunt, rude at times and patronising. The room was cold and when a complaint was made the owner was rude and patronising. The owner was intolerant towards childern. We were made to feel uncomfortable. The owner was ignorant towards other cultures as when we asked him a simple question; whether the hash brown had been cooked separately, the owner's response was sarcastic however, the lady at the breakfast was polite and welcoming . The hotel was too expensive for its quality and facilities provided. The overall experience was very disappointing.
Nothing travelling with Daughter, husband plus two kids. Felt very Embarrassed. Having made the booking. £129. Was far too much for their inadequate facility as was My husband and mine at £89. Disgusting. No en-suite is not good In this day and age. You do not expect to have to run down corridors in your nightclothes. Not happy at all. Thus was a rip off.
No en-suite facilities Old run down furniture D/B and s/b crammed into small room 2nd room up three flights of stairs Family room sleep four. No en-suite facilities. Not acceptable.
Price was cheap
Room was too small, barely enough room for myself. Shared bathroom. Proprietor was outright rude upon our arrival.
Owner Shower was a trickle and old fashioned No parking facility. Street only if you are lucky to find a space
A clean and nice hotel with great location. Host was kind to help and provided useful advise for trip scheduling around lake district.
Considerate & helpful service; excellent breakfast!!
One staff was very friendly and smily Break fast was very good Good Location Beds are comfortale and cosy
Toilet and bathroom is very cramped and not good. There was no shower cap The owner was talking too much of rule than being helpful. He could have been more friendy and guiding, especially when the travellers are from a different country and new to this country
Staff were friendly and helpful Room was clean & tidy
T.V - worked but you couldn't watch as there was no signal Bed was not the most comfortable I've slept on
Breakfast is locally sourced
A warm welcome, cheerful and amusing repartee by the owner for everyone at breakfast!
I've stayed in many places all over the lakes and some are over priced and too many unecacery frills etc , this place was a good sleep and good brekky , huff said
All we needed was provided and David's advice had been very helpful.
The welcome was pleasant and friendly, the room small but comfortable and contained everything needed, ( tea coffee, hair dryer, tv. hand basin, soap, towel). Breakfast was delicious and freshly cooked each morning to order. would definitely stay again and would recommend to friends.
Not having an en suite, as had to go down stairs at 3 am to use the toilet.
The room was clean and there were not other guests on the floor where we were. This was nice because we had a one year old baby with us and though she was good it was nice not to be worried about disturbing others. The breakfast was nice and the lady which was working for David was very nice. David was very helpful to his guests.
The Television was not working in the room. The shower and toilets were down the hall. The shower was very small.
-train station and main bus stops is just a few minutes walks away -viewpoints (of lake windermere) is within walking distance (less than 1/2 hour walks) -the bedroom is super comfy
Good location. Great breakfast, and a pleasant stay.
Parking difficulties, and relativley unclean bathroom.
The owner is so kind and helpfully. We will recommend to my friend.
Vegi breakfast was just the standard breakfast without meat!
The location was fantastic! David was really helpful during our stay and the whole experience was nice.
The room was very comfortable. The bathroom particularly smart. Location was very central. Breakfast was filling. Our host was informative and there was a lot of information on the locality.
Things felt a little dated. The age of the fittings in the room was showed up by the new bathroom. Like a lot of places in the Lakes, quite pricey, but I've stayed in B and Bs here that for the price, make a little more effort to stand out. Parking is an issue, although this is common in towns in the Lakes. The guy who runs the B and B is perhaps not the kind of person you would expect to find working in hospitality - rather blunt and intimidating, and too quick to put forward negative opinions to his guests. I got on fine with him but I can see other people might be offended in the same situation
