I've stayed in many places all over the lakes and some are over priced and too many unecacery frills etc , this place was a good sleep and good brekky , huff said
All we needed was provided and David's advice had been very helpful.
The welcome was pleasant and friendly, the room small but comfortable and contained everything needed, ( tea coffee, hair dryer, tv. hand basin, soap, towel). Breakfast was delicious and freshly cooked each morning to order. would definitely stay again and would recommend to friends.
Not having an en suite, as had to go down stairs at 3 am to use the toilet.
The room was clean and there were not other guests on the floor where we were. This was nice because we had a one year old baby with us and though she was good it was nice not to be worried about disturbing others. The breakfast was nice and the lady which was working for David was very nice. David was very helpful to his guests.
The Television was not working in the room. The shower and toilets were down the hall. The shower was very small.
-train station and main bus stops is just a few minutes walks away -viewpoints (of lake windermere) is within walking distance (less than 1/2 hour walks) -the bedroom is super comfy
Good location. Great breakfast, and a pleasant stay.
Parking difficulties, and relativley unclean bathroom.
The owner is so kind and helpfully. We will recommend to my friend.
Vegi breakfast was just the standard breakfast without meat!
The location was fantastic! David was really helpful during our stay and the whole experience was nice.
The room was very comfortable. The bathroom particularly smart. Location was very central. Breakfast was filling. Our host was informative and there was a lot of information on the locality.
Things felt a little dated. The age of the fittings in the room was showed up by the new bathroom. Like a lot of places in the Lakes, quite pricey, but I've stayed in B and Bs here that for the price, make a little more effort to stand out. Parking is an issue, although this is common in towns in the Lakes. The guy who runs the B and B is perhaps not the kind of person you would expect to find working in hospitality - rather blunt and intimidating, and too quick to put forward negative opinions to his guests. I got on fine with him but I can see other people might be offended in the same situation
Shared bathroom and beds wobbley
location and breakfast.
I liked this place, stayed for 5 nights. David and assistant Sharon were help full well mannered and polite. Full breakfast was excellent and extra cups of coffee as required. Keys provided so you can come and go all day at any time. The room was as advertised and was clean. Shared toilets and showers were modern and were always clean when I used them. WiFi was available only in the sitting room but did not use it myself.? I could see car parking could be a problem but personally worked out fine for me. Always got parked very close. The location Windermere for my purposes was really good as a central base for touring about.
- friendly staff (David is very helpful and straightforward) - perfect localization - tasty breakfast
Breakfast Friendly Staff Bed
Toilet was in the room, but it was ok
Very nice and friendly.
we were made very welcome.were given a realy good and understandable verble guide of the area.they also had loads of leaflets about the lake district.brendan chase is in a good location in the heart of windermere,2 min walk to shops pubs and resteraunts, also a short walk to the bus and train station so you don't have to bother with the car.by the way breakfasts were good.
right I don't like saying bad things.but Brendan chase is in need of a face lift as the décor is looking very tired.also the en suits need modernising as well as the bathrooms on the stairs.if you took your time to look you could find dust patches.
This place is near the centre of Windemere. And Windemere is really nice. That's about all I can say that's positive about it. Unless you like comedy fault towers like experiences.
This was one of the worst B&B experiences I've had. 1. The house stinks of cooking fat. I have posted a picture of a nasty pan of old cooking fat that sits out all day in the kitchen. The smell from this fills the house. I couldn't sleep because of the smell. I had to wash ALL our clothes after leaving (and I was travelling with my 4 kids so that's quite a lot of clothes!) because even the clothes that we didn't take out our bags stank. NASTY. åç 2. David (the owner) is unpleasant. My kids were quite astonished to see him yell at a Chinese family who were returning to the B&B while we were checking in. One of the them left the front door open. David yelled at them - "We close doors in this country". Nice. 3. When I sent my coffee back at breakfast (it was also just nasty) I got a lecture about "how this is really expensive coffee". I really don't need that when I'm trying to sort my 4 kids out at breakfast time. I really wish I'd read the reviews on here before spending £130 on very unpleasant night in a very unpleasant place. Avoid.
Close to places to eat and not far to travel to Windermere.
There was a lot of dust on skating boards and pots/utensils were not very clean.
Nothing... However, we did apreciate the information that the owner offered us. Many thanks.
This B&B definetely does not deserve three stars. Not only the building, but the beddings and other household items felt Victorian as well. All parts of the building stink. We did not have en suit bathroom or WC. Unless the hotel undergoes some severe refurbishment, it must be removed from Booking.com
quaintness breakfast comfy bed
it was cold when we went
There are kettle, tea, coffee in the room.
Nothing to complain, but no food in the house.
David the owner could not have been more helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was excellent, the full English set us up for a busy day. No pretensions here just a basic B+B with no fuss and rules posted up on all the walls.
Basic facilities that could do with updating but it all adds to the experience.
Location in Bowness town ok clean
Very small room Tiny bathroom. Never seen anything like it. The shower was an absolute pain. Had to stick to the wall to get any water on my body! Tiniest wash basin I have ever seen in my life, right in the middle of the bedroom! Separate taps for hot and cold. Why??? Furniture that belongs in a museum. Really, I am serious. Mattress worn by use. Dirty cutlery. Burnt water boiler. Extremely rude and intrusive attendant. Kept screaming at the other guests because they did not follow his 'rules'. David screamed at some guests because they were eating something in the 'breakfast room'. Threatened to throw them out if they argued. He actually shouted at the guest to put trousers on (he was wearing perfectly good sports trousers). Our room was up 2 floors. Old squeaky stairs. We were there for 2 nights and were scared all the time for being screamed at if we did not follow the rules. And all this for 130 gbp per night? Absolutely unbelievable. I did not want to stay there for the second night but was just too scared to bring it up. David sat in the sitting room with me and expressed his disgust for all of the current guests besides myself. God knows what he talked about when I was not around. The breakfast is not a buffet. There is one lady to help David and together they want to wrap up things with the minimum effort possible. We got whatever we could and then ate something outside again. To repeat myself, I paid 260 pounds for this. An absolute damper in our trip. Never again! If you read this review and still stay there, well good luck to you!
Early check-in accommodated. Fantastic breakfast. Good value for money.
