It was an easy walk to downtown York from the Briar Lea, and our hosts were most helpful and friendly. Parking was on the street as available, but not a problem.

The stairs were steep and narrow, with no lift. Our room was tiny, and really more suited for use as a single rather than a double.

Location. Easy to get to railway, river, park and city centre.

The metal bed frame, which was loose, knocked against the wall.(cured problem with towel between frame and wall.) Shower head pointed towards the door making it difficult to shower. (The riser rail should be reposioned)

We had a lovely stay at Briar Lee, though only there for 2 nights. Very central to town ( walking distance).Hosts were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was great. Our room was probably a little smaller than I imagined, but adequate for the amount of time we were there!

Visited with my Parents and Nephew. Excellent, friendly, and great that they have a double room on the ground floor which is great for my Mum as she cannot walk upstairs very well.

Location was great, short walking distance into York. Accommodations were nice, breakfast was great. Could ask for nicer people!

As in every place we stayed in the UK, the family room (4 people) was at the very top of old homes. This became very hot at night. Not really a complaint, just an FYI

Location is quite good for walking into the center of city

The bed was so hard it made your hips, shoulders and back ache, the thin duvet didn't keep you warm.

The stairs were a bit much for my Mother (76). Should probably have realised this before I booked

We enjoyed our stay at Briar Lea Guest House. Nigel & Norma made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. Everything was clean and tidy and a lovely friendly atmosphere. The breakfasts were absolutely fantastic and you could help yourself to what you wanted other than just having the cooked breakfast. Parking was made available outside the property when we arrived. Would recommend this guest house to anyone. Well worth the money we paid.
