We are bikers and off street parking is always something we look for when choosing places to stay. The hotel had an excellent courtyard at the rear. As a bonus our rooms were actually little chalets which were also in the courtyard, so our bikes were practically right outside our door. The chalets have the bedrooms on a mezzanine floor, meaning the bathroom and separate sitting area are on the ground floor. Chalet 9 has a sauna too. A little dated but works perfectly well. Breakfast is excellent. A good choice of cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit, full English, smoked salmon, avocado on toast, basically something for everyone. The evening meals looked good too, but we didn't eat at the hotel in the evenings, we were out and about. Our hosts and staff were more than welcoming.

Great welcome from Kate & Ian. Beautiful rooms, excellent facilities. Felt like a home from home. Washing machine for guests to use was a life saver, especially if you’re walking the Pennines or the wall and you’re covered in mud! Lots of lovely touches such as milk in a little fridge, chocolate and home made cake or biscuit. The breakfast choice was excellent quality and plentiful in both choice and quantity. I’d recommend this wonderful B&B to everyone.10* all the way.

The hosts were absolutely brilliant - very attentive, helpful and with great eye for detail. We could not have asked for more from them. The room was spotless and very tastefully decorated. There was hot water at all times with an excellent water pressure. The beds were very comfortable and fresh. The breakfast had great choice of everything including catering for allergies. There were plenty of small touches which added to the overall great stay eg a relaxation room filled with books and great views, a hot tub which can be booked, eco friendly approach of the hosts and an excellent position for the Hadrian’s Wall and other local sightseeing.
