Cosy bar. Good food. Fantastic breakfast. Superb staff.
We were placed into an annex room rather than the main hotel. I was dissapointed I no longer had a bath just a shower. Also rather than having a double bed we had two singles pushed together with only a sheet joining them - very uncomfortable. The annex rooms only have sliding doors, not windows, which meant the room got very hot and stuffy through the night. Also the bathroom light came on automatically so when either of us got up in the night both of us were awake. If we had been placed in the superior double room I don't think any of these things would be an issue. My comments/complaints were noted on my departure and I was assured someone would email or call me in the next couple of days- this did not happen.
Food and ambience in the bar. The incredible views. 15 minute drive to Glencoe. What could be better?
Hate the dining room decor. I just think it should be more scottish. My advice to the owners is to look at the macdonald hotel near Aberfoyle for excellent scottish decor.
Location, service and food
the hot water ran cold just as I got into the shower. WiFi and TV signal was erratic but then again you don't go to Bridge of Orchy to send emails and watch TV
Fantastic location, great staff team
Wi-fi is in a very limited area - but great that the hotel has it, that it's free, and that it works - it being in the bar is very practical :-)
This was our second stay here and it was as wonderful as the first, staff were lovely, dinner impeccable, breakfast was delicious, location is perfect, bedrooms are warm and cosy. Can't wait to go back!
The only issue was the lack of Wi-Fi and no signal. Not a huge deal though and wouldn't stop me going back
Proximity to Glencoe Mountain Resort for a day of skiing. Very helpful and polite staff. Food looked good (had already eaten) Breakfast was excellent aside from the inedible porridge.
Needs a revamp. Tatty wallpaper, scratched/dated furnishings/carpets/wonky floor boards. Wi-fi not in bed rooms. Generator droning on at night and a.m. Porridge was inedible. (2 opinions) No explanation given. Cleaner hoovering nearby at breakfast time is hardly ideal ambience? Hardly a cheap night stop over.
Staff very friendly & helpful. Food lovely. Room comfortable & clean. Beautiful location.
Not enough staff for evening when dinner was being served. Had to wait 45 mins for starter.7
all of it all the staff were very helpfull and polite will go back this is our second time
I would like to have had a mattress protector/topper so you could not feel the zip in the zip link. Otherwise everything perfect!
AMAZING ROOM, GREAT ATMOSPHERE IN THE BAR, AND AMAZING FOOD.LOVELY BREAKFAST.
Everything, what a great hotel, with friendly staff.
Location and views, despite the issues we had the staff were friendly and helpful.
My partner and I booked a Superior double room which we picked as it had a bath and shower as well as being in the main building of the hotel. On arrival we were told that we had been upgraded to a Heather view suite (room 23) on inspection we made the decision to decline this offer as it was smaller than the superior double, there was no bath and we had to leave the main building to get to these rooms in the garden. On return to the reception we spoke with the Manager to say that we would like the room that we booked but we were told that all the superior rooms in the main building were now occupied and the only room available in the main building would be a standard double for the 2nd night of the stay only and we could move after 1 night. The manager commented that the all the superior rooms in the hotel were given to guests who had “paid more” which left us astounded. We were then offered a River View suite and a bottle of wine as an apology to make up for the disappointment of not getting the room we booked. We understand that the suite rooms outside are more expensive and in some peoples opinion better than the rooms in the main building but we specifically chose the room we wanted. The second incident in our opinion is more serious to which we did receive some financial compensation for but we are not satisfied that this compensates us for spoiling most of our weekend and only covered the cost of my partners meal on the Friday evening My partner is lactose intolerant to which we specified on our booking form, we also informed any staff that served us our food and drink over the weekend. Before we ordered our meal on Friday evening we spoke with the waiter who took a menu to the chef who kindly wrote on the menu what my partner could and could not have.
We were booked into an annex room adjacent to the main hotel. Our room was well appointed. The warmth of our room was welcoming, as we arrived mid evening and the outside temperature was dropping rapidly. We had a three course dinner in the restaurant, which was delicious. The breakfast was excellent too with fabulous views out to the river and the Bridge of Orchy. As we left - there was a magnificent Stag, standing across the road beside the trees, less than fifty feet from us. A magical moment!
The bed was a little on the short side as my husband is 6'2" This was the only minor fault that we encountered. Everything else about the room matched our expectations. The en suite was lovely and warm as well.
Excellent service and food
Very comfortable Friendly & helpful staff Fantastic food
Couldn't get the Wi-Fi to work
Remote location, good food & staff.
Waited nearly 2 hours for food to arrive, although the staff were genuinely apologetic and we did receive a discount on food and drink bill. Also feel that after the demolition of the bunk house and the expensive price of a basic room the hotel is becoming very walker un-friendly, which is disappointing as it is in the middle of the most famous long distance walk in Scotland.
Hospitality was very good - food was cooked perfectly - the hotel and rooms were very clean - great location - generally a very pleasant break!!
It would have been good to have been able to increase the heat in our room during early evening - heating seemed to come on overnight and room was warm by morning. Our steaks were tuff but had very good flavour and I realise that the steaks would have been tuff when purchased, so not a criticism of the hotel as they were cooked perfectly. The paths to and from our room (31) were very slippery (ice)
We loved the log burner, the friendly staff (with a sense of humour!), the food was amazing (husband liked the portion sizes) and the choice of drinks.
Our room didn't have wifi (we were in the chalets) which wouldn't have been a problem except there was no mobile reception at all - possibly because of the weather. We were also missing shower gel! Not a disaster though, and still well worth a visit.
Excellent service from start to finish , location was fantastic.
Great service , very dog friendly , lovely new annexes with great view of the bridge it's self . Food is great and the wee bar with the real fire is very relaxing.
No wifi in the rooms and hotel wifi a bit slow
Comfortable bed Quiet (despite noisy outside generator) Good food once it arrived (eventually) Staff tried hard to do their best and were friendly and accommodating Pleasant residents lounge which no-one was using (possibly because no light in stairwell)
Very slow service which did spoil our first night there. We waited for an hour before being served our main course and the only thing I ordered beforehand was olives. We could see other customers being served before us even though we had been there some time before they arrived. There was no communication as to why the service was so slow. When we asked we were told that the chef was under pressure. We decided to go elsewhere the next night. No stair light from ground floor to bedrooms. Walking up and down stairs in the dark is something of a H&S matter. Advertised as luxury but compared with many other places we have stayed our bedroom was not luxury. It was dated and rather dark; small bath, fixtures missing or badly placed. It didn't spoil our visit. We just think it's wrong to advertise as luxury something which is clearly not. Overpriced at £120 per night but a captive market.
Staff hardworking, friendly and professional. Great food and well-kept real ales. Superbly situated for hill-walking.
Friendly helpful staff, tasty meals, ,,comfortable beds and superb location Would certainly return!
inside room radiator needs upgrading and light in the bathroom dull and insufficient.
