“ The very friendly and helpful staff. The evening meal menu looked wonderful, but we did not want a big meal, so ate in the bar where the food was excellent. Good to have the option. ”

Location was good for access to Buttermere and surrounding countryside. Breakfast was good. Room nicely decorated and furnished. No tv. Shower not particularly powerful. Noisey extractor. Pillows lumpy and not very comfortable. External security light kept on going on and off during the night lighting up room. For £140/night I was expecting that little 'extra', which on reflection, I didn't experience during my stay.

Everything was as described on the web site. No television - poor reception was cited but is there not "satallite" tv. Radio would have been welcome.

Room decor and cleanliness choice of ales beautiful setting good head of water on shower /bath friendly staff. Would have scored higher but for comments opposite The vibrating and noisy boiler under the famous "room 11"; comes on 6.30am and goes off 10.30pm - no real discussion of this as a possible cause for irritation but more established single guests seemed to be aware of this. I presume that this must be regarded as work in progress! The telephone call recording machine which multiplied my bill 5x and which by now presumably has been rectified.

Very comfortable and smart hotel with decent bar. It has a good feel to it - it's small enough not to feel like a corporate but does not have the over personal feel that a B&B may have. The shower pressure was a bit poor in our room but we were assured that most other rooms have good pressure.

The staff made us feel most welcome & they they were very helpful. The quality of the room was excellent. The bar also offers lovely meals. Its a great location for walking - high or low level, fantastic views, and great for just escaping from the usual busy routine of things. It wasn't an issue for us, but the room didn't have a TV due to the poor TV reception in that area.
