The staff were genuinely polite and helpful which, to me, is indicative of sound investment in customer relations training. The room was clean and comfortable. The food (breakfast) standard/service was very good. It was an overall good hotel experience. Sadly, an otherwise good stay was spoiled by the hotel's overly loud and intrusive background modern pop music . It did not make for a relaxing environment in the bar/breakfast room and caused us to retire from the bar earlier than we wanted. If background music has to be played then it should be low volume and of the soft/easy listening type.

When I booked online I requested a bottle of wine to be in the room chilled on arrival for us as I was taking my husband away for his birthday so thought it would be a nice surprise. On check in as we were both there I couldn't mention it to the receptionist however it seems I was the only person to be surprised as nothing was in the room when we arrived. Shame. There seemed to be some confusion on the part of the receptionist re our booking when we got there, some admin thing, so no idea whether our wine turned up in someone else's room or not! It was in the comments on the online booking but obviously not picked up by hotel staff. I didn't complain at the time as it didn't seem necessary, it just would have been a 'nice to have' instead of a need. However, the hotel missed out on the sale of an extra bottle of wine that day due to this inattention. On arrival, we ordered room service and were pleased with the food however, I had requested rose wine with the meal and instead got red. Didn't drink all of it as it wasn't what we chose however, again I didn't feel the need to complain at the time or ask for it to be changed as we'd travelled quite a distance to get there and were just pleased to be eating in our room soon after arrival. Here seemed a better place to bring it up since you've emailed me to request feedback!

Not heard of q hotels before so chose because it was easy access to where I needed to be the following day was interested to try it out. Warm welcome on arrival checked in and found twin room was very pleasant with all the usual features of a business hotel. Dinner in the evening was taken in the Squires restaurant food freshly cooked and enjoyable. Breakfast hot/cold buffet style was included in the room price. Nothing really wrong but I found the pillows used not that great as they were too flat and two just gives me neck ache as pushes the head forward too far! Common fault with many hotels where I've stayed.

We found all the staff very obliging, friendly and always smiling, even under pressure. a bit difficult to find due to the numerous one way road systems. A navigational aid does help.

Was very 'open plan' in feel and nicely decorated. Our room was 'on the system' as showing clean and ready but when we got there it wasn't ready. After an apology we were given another room that door wouldn't lock. So maintenance was called. My wife suffers from me and found our arrival very stressful and tiring. The staff were very polite and apologetic but it didn't make a good first impression.

Staff were enthusiastic and friendly, rooms and facilities were great, breakfast range was broad. The hotel had workmen in pn 2 out of 3 of our days there. When we were hoping for a relaxing afternoon we couldn't get into our room because they were doing maintenance work the following day it was too noisy to stay in, we had to find another area of the hotel to sit in.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. Cath (I think) behind the bar is very friendly and the receptionist brought an iron and board to me within minutes of requesting it. It seemed as though they've made a few improvements since the last time I stayed. I would prefer a duvet on the bed to sheets, beds are not overly comfortable and the pillows aren't very good quality. Food is overpriced for the quality.

I found the car parking easy and with good access to the Hotel. In general the food was very good. The Gym is much better since improvements were made. Reception staff are friendly and very helpful. Provisions in the room were sparse. Room lighting is not sufficiently bright. Radiators worked sometimes and not sometimes. Light in the hallway was not working on arrival and stayed that way despite request for change. Leisure Rooms opening hours good during the week but the drastic drop to 8.30 start at weeks are not helpful if one wanted to fit in breakfast.

The location was most suitable for our purpose The hotel had seen better days & was relying upon past glory? The room provided represented poor value for money as the facilities ie no mini bar, bath robes etc was not to 4* standard. The bathroom was very badly maintained and only just fit for use. We had intended to take advantage of the well publicised & apparently excelent restaurant however we found the quality of food preparation, presentation & cooking very poor indeed - in fact the good ingredients were wasted!!!! The standard was less than 1* but the price 5* hence totaly unacceptable for the por standard which we chose not to repeat a second time. We were very dissatisfied.

I found my room well-lit something that I find is a major problem in many hotels, where even reading in bed is impoosible because of poor lighting. The hair-dryer was efficient and worked properly, something else with which I have a problem at many hotels. The hotel was light, airy and pleasant to be in and the stairs to the room were by proper staircase, not a dingy stairwell. The breakfast was excellent and catered to my quite difficult needs as I am both vegetarian and wheat intolerant. While stating in my 'good' review the excellence of the breakfast, I could find little for me to eat in the menu for evening meals, and I would have preferred to eat in the hotel on the night of my arrival than have to go into town which is what I did do. My only other suggestion is that beds are fitted with sheets that actually fit them, as the sheet on my bed could not be tucked under the mattress on any side, thus rucked up under me during the night, making it uncomfortable.
