Stayed for one night, was blown away by the friendliness and willingness of the staff to assist in every aspect of my stay. It felt more like a 4 star with 5 Star service.
Breakfast was very good, Tranquil place, wildlife & lovely gardens. Good location to walk to see views of Windermere.
Room was a bit cold.
Friendly staff, clean modern rooms & excellent location
Professional staff. Comfortable bed. Spacious bedroom & bathroom Lovely outlook. High quality food.
Shower control difficult to operate.
bedroom comfort first class
as above think its in need of a makeover carpets are so badly worne i believe they are in places even dangerous had i not been on a wedding weekend i whould have made a fuss sorry if you dont like my coments but i feel i need to be honest when you pay good money you expect the best
location was nice. the room was comfortable with private door leading on to nice gardens.
one hour dedicated for breakfast 08:30 to 09:30. The hotel decor and furniture was like an old peoples residential home(very dated) and the carpets were worn so badly the stairs were covered in silver duct tape
Hotel nicely situated for Ambleside and Bowness. The staff were out to please, there was plenty of lounge sitting areas, the beds were very comfortable. The whole place was clean. The food was good. The visit experience was more than satisfactory!
Staff, room, location.
Stayed at Briery Wood recently the night before my daughter's wedding so large party of family and the bride staying. Staff couldn't do enough, so helpful and polite. Bacon butties brought up for the bride and bridesmaids on the morning of the wedding. Lovely evening meal on the Friday, very child friendly. Couldn't praise enough the reception we had here and would like to come back in the future. Thank you to everyone who assisted us getting out on time on the Saturday morning!
If I had to pick something I thought the evening set meal was a little on the pricey side but nothing else
Friendly staff, good facilities.
Only stayed one night but the room was very comfortable and the staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfast was good.
Communal areas a little bit dated, but it is a country house hotel. There was an extractor fan outside rooms 9 & 10 which was audible during the day, but was (thankfully) off at night.
Location & bed large and very comfortable. Pleasant view if Windermere from our room.
Disappointing breakfast. Quality of sausage not up to standard. Scrambled eggs were too runny/soup like.
The staff went an extra mile to help us with our booking and accommodation for our 6yo son. Thank you a lot. We had a great time!
Staff very helpful and friendly , superb breakfast
The cleanliness and nice bathroom facilities also the staff very helpful.
The digital lock on the the rear door needs illuminating could not make out the numbers in order to get in
The location was idyllic, peaceful and tranquil just perfect for a relaxing break
Relaxing and comfortable with friendly, helpful staff
Only there for two nights - nothing comes to mind.......
The double bed which was too singlestorey joined and was very uncomfortable due to the ridge in the middle
The way the staff helpfully accomodated dietary requests to vary the menu.
I was welcomed and shown around instantly I felt comfortable and relaxed. Everything was well explained. The food was superb. The guest socialised and I did not have the usual problems of being a solo traveler. Beautiful grounds.
The facilities/ decor are a bit tired but everything works. It will be interesting to watch the progress. I hope the comfortable relaxed atmosphere will not be sacrificed. This place has character.
This was definitely a more local place. I was the only person not speaking British English. The garden was gorgeous and the staff was very accommodating of my walker's schedule. They packed a great lunch for my hike up Helvellyn and coordinated my pick up for kayaking with Tall Bloke Adventures. The breakfast and dinner were good. My room had a nice bath tub and comfy bed, both important after walking all day. I really have to say that the staff, all around, were the nicest of all the hotels I stayed at on my trip.
My room didn't really have a view of much and the furnishings were all new (and very nice) but no "country inn" uniqueness to them. But, I had a single room at a lower rate, so this wasn't my priority in choosing this hotel.
From checking in to checking out we was made very welcome the staff were very friendly and very helpful. The grounds of the hotel and the hotel was amazing.
Large comfy Super king bed, had a good nights sleep after te Great North swim. Dinner fairly priced and excellent standard. Staff were very helpful and polite.
The proximity to Lake Windermere as we 2 of our group were doing the Great North Swim. The staff were very helpful.
The room had a balcony and two small windows but as we were not allowed to open the balcony door for health and safety reasons the room was rather stuffy - the fan in the room helped though!
location, pleasant grounds, really helpful when I asked for a late checkout, most of the staff were very pleasant.
Price of soft drinks in the bar was eye-watering.
