We chose this hotel because of the location and we had stayed in other bw hotels and was under the impression that they were of a reasonable standard - that is until we booked this one. We were offerred an upgrade to a superior room for a charge of an extra £30.00. The room itself was large with a seaview. The windows were filthy and the carpet was unbelievable stained and grubby. I did not take my shoes off during the entire stay in this room. The bathroom was long and narrow and very clinical. There were no toiletries apart from a soap dispenser above the wash basin and over the bath. Breakfast was served in a very nice room and the staff pleasant. The food when served was hot but as one of the toasting machines was ooo I had to queue to toast my bread. The cereals were very limited. I did report the stains on the carpets in our superior room - two I think were blood stains to reception on our departure. I would never stay or recommend this hotel to anyone. This hotel turned out to be very disappointing and we would never return. There are lots of hotels in Brighton and unfortunately I chose the wrong one on this occasion.

Good value for money, helpful staff and good service at breakfast. I felt I was looked after during my overnight stay. Great view overlooking the sea from some rooms and the dining room. It felt a little claustrophobic as there is not much free space, so I wouldn't recommend it if you plan a long stay or are likely to be confined to the hotel for hours on end

The staff were brilliant, helpful and friendly and good to our young daughter. The room was clean and we had lovely sea views. The breakfast was lovely and I would recommend booking in advance, either when you book the room or when you arrive at the hotel as it is cheaper! All in all a good hotel and worth staying in. The room was alittle on the small size for a superior double with a baby.

The only thing I liked was the location The best western , on first glance, seems up to date and classy, this is not the case and it fell very short of its descripyion on your web site. We had connecting beds which didn't fit properly, a side view of the sea, the supposed seating area was a dining chair and the room was generally grubby. The reception staff, while they spoke good English, they were not fluent and struggled to understand or be understood. This hotel was not worth £85 for a night stay.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. I complained about the toilet door to my room and they immediately offered me another room. The second's room toilet door still wasn't closing well, and after I complained again (my second complaint in a space of 30 minutes) the receptionist apologized and upgraded me to a complimentary Super King room!!! Honestly I didn't expect that :) I placed this here only to state how helpful, responsive attentive I found the staff during my complaints. On the down-size I didn't think it was a good value for money because of the reason I stated above

The staff were friendly and the room was nicely decorated It was overpriced for the room. The room was very small. The location was a bit further than I'd have liked. The shower had been painted and the paint peeled off onto our feet when showering. The breakfast was very disappointing and was only served until 9:30am

As ususal the staffare friendly and helpful. The brekfast is excellent and restaurant staff very helpful. The view of the sea I took a superior room and felt that the bathroom was rather unsafe. It slopes and is uneven and it would easily be possible to fall, especially in the middle of the night The settee was stained

Receptionist was very helpful regarding alternative parking arrangements and quick to offer room upgrading with a splendid settee view over the sea. The upgrading of the accommodation was impressive in view of the age of the buiding and the sloping character floors! Lack of parking on site.

Friendly staff and excellent service. Good breakfast: basic buffet, continental breakfast is good value for money if included in room rate. Vegetarian option is a plus. Single room was clean. Location is good, close to the old Pier, right on the seafront, it is just few minutes walk from the city centre. Traffic in the morning, bus lines in 5 mins, train station by bus, or 25 mins walk. Single room was very small. Unexpectedly there was no iron. Bathroom is cold (on mid March) No environmentally friend policy for towels Window frame needed some renovation

The cleanliness of the hotel was good and the daytime staff were pleasant. However there knowledge of the local area was not as good as it should be. The directions I was given would have sent me a mile passed where I needed to be. I used my own initiative to find my venue. The fire alarm was set off at 1.57am. This I do not have a problem with as it can happen anywhere. However, we were not shown outside by any member of staff. He stood by the desk doing nothing. When we were outside we all waited in the courtyard with some guests even sitting on the steps. I do understand that guests presumed it was a false alarm, however the staff should make sure that everyone meets at the allotted meeting place. I would presume this to be across the road away from the hotel. If the courtyard is your allotted meeting place then this is extremely dangerous as it is too close to the hotel. If there was an actual fire the guests would be at risk. There was no communication from the staff during this time at all. We were allowed into the building by the fire brigade, with still no communication from the staff. I also believe that the only fire exit for the whole building is the main staircase. I am not sure how safe this would be in the case of a real fire and if there is another exit, we were not made aware of it. As I am a fire officer at my workplace I am aware of procedures and how staff need to be in the case of a fire or a drill. Maybe you should give any staff that are on desk duty the correct training to carry out this role. It is not good to always presume it is a false alarm. Every time the alarm goes off it should be treated as a real emergency or one day you may be caught out. I would hope that if I ever visit again these matters would have been rectified. I would like to feel safe when away from home.

Very clean rooms, nice decor. It was in a decent location, not too far from the bars and shops, but far enough away that there was not too much noise from passers by. A cooked breakfast was included in the price making the overall stay very reasonable. Although we expected the room to be fairly small, the shower room was a little too small! Showering and even using the loo for a tall person would probably be quite tricky!

We had a spacious superior twin room with side sea view. My husband had a mobility scooter with him and the reception staff were extremely helpful and courteous. Breakfasts have gone a bit downhill - not a very good choice on the buffet counter and the whole thing pared down to make it easy for the staff - ie "buckets" of cutlery on the table. Staff were efficient and pleasant and the cooked breakfast adequate but nothing that would stay in the memory and the pork sausage was definitely from the budget end of the catering scale.

Young staff extremely helpful, smiling and efficient. Showed genuine interest in making your requests/stay as smooth as possible. Nothing too much trouble. Booked a very cheap deal on line and when we arrived shown a clean, adequate room but asked the possibilty of upgrade. Offered an excellent deal to upgrade to a 'superior' room. What a lovely room, spacious, light and overlooking the seafront with a settee set in the bay window to take in the view. The large double bed was one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in - even at hotels with more 'stars'. This hotel is far better than its's 3 star rating. Totally recommended. This is an old building, floorboards are somewhat creaky. It is luck of the draw if you have ballerinas or elephants in the room above!!!

The location - which is why we chose it - but what a let down - see below The Brighton Hotel has shattered the reputation of Best Western. The Hotel is in a state of disrepair and the Hotel group should more accurately be renamed as worse western. The only thing we liked about the Hotel was the location. However it was grossly overpriced for what the Hotel offered. The bedrooms were small and cramped. At night with the heating off - the room was unbearably hot. The window could not be opened fully which added to the discomfort. the staff were unfriendly and straight laced. No smiles - even at check in. The receptionist made a dogs dinner of the check in. should have been a simple card swipe - but took much longer. WORSE STILL - the electrical sockets and plugs which were not PAT tested. A wall mounted double socket had a four gang line mounted extension lead fixed to the wall. this was to accommodate extra electrical appliances. I noted that the extension and additional electrical item did not have the safety sticker - fire risk perhaps? What kind of numbskulls are allowed to run a hotel which is in such disrepair and so out of character for the Best Western group? Even the Hotel sign (in Montpelier Road) spells RIGHTON HOTEL (the B is missin No complaint was made to the Hotel – it seemed pointless. There was no connection or engagement. I was not enraged by it – simply disinterested and will not return.
