Small, but comfortable, Friendly welcome by the owner Graham, even though we arrived early it was no problem, more a guest house than a hotel. Excellent choice for breakfast, all in all a great attitude from the owners who made us feel welcome and at home.

The staff are excellent, knowledgeable. Their informal but always polite and friendly nature made staying there a wonderful experience. Graham was very helpful with tips about walks, local transport and places to dine at. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a clean, well run, welcoming, relaxed and informal place to stay in the Windermere area! The vegetarian and vegan breakfast options, plus the small, strategically placed signs about being sure to switch sights and power switches off to conserve energy were fantastic touches and much appreciated! The toilet flush took some manoeuvring to work properly, but aside from that minor issue I enjoyed everything else about the place.

Very comfortable bed. Spotlessly clean good breakfast. Very pleasant and welcoming owner The breakfast room doubled as a residents' lounge. In the latter role it is a little small and limited. If a residents'evening lounge could be provided, this would help, asd the bedroom, although very nice, was not large enough to sit in and watch tv without utilising the bed itself

We loved our stay at this hotel. The owners were lovely. Our room was clean and we were provided with chocolates, tea and lots of information about the area. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and fulling. It was very central and quite near the train and bus station. We like everything about this hotel.

Really friendly and informative owners. Breakfasts were fantastic, especially the bacon! Lovely clean facilities and comfy bed. Lovely friendly cats!! Ideal centre for touring around southern lakes. Must see is orrest head, short walk and climb from b & b, a beautiful view all over lake district. Only knew of this as graham, the owner of briscoe lodge told us about it. Very short walk into town and ideal for walk to lake windermere, where boats can be booked for cruises up and down lake. We went to motor museum at newby bridge after boat trip from bowness to newby bridge. Donald cambell's bluebird replica's also there. Would recommend this hotel to everyone
