Based on a classic cruise ship, The Liner offers nautical décor and cabin-style rooms with marble bathrooms. Liverpool Lime Street Station is just 2 minutes’ walk away.
Score from 1711 reviews Fabulous
I liked the old grandeur of this iconic building, lovely style of the large public lounges and restaurants and the spacious bedrooms. The bedrooms still had their original features including a big marble wash basin incorporated into the bedroom fixtures, and lots of original mirrors. The corridors still had their original marble panels lining the walls.
I found on first impression the hotel corridors and bedrooms were very shabby. Although I loved all the original features, the carpets were very threadbare and worn and the paintwork chipped. An air of neglect. The bed was a cheap slightly rickety wooden bed. When we arrived it was actually in pieces on the floor and two carpenters were trying to mend it!! The bathroom was nice and warm but cramped and unremarkable. All the carpets in the corridors really needed replacing.
Everything else about the hotel. Bed was about to break, and there was a used tampon in the corridor
location near lime street station
Disgusting food awful Filthy dirty Staff rude Could be a wonderful place but it's not so sad
Value for money, centre of town easy accessible for shopping.
Needs up dating. Cracked sink in bathroom .
Rooms were clean and beds were very comfy. Very quiet hotel despite being right in city centre. We enjoyed using the pool.
Breakfast time was only from 7am and one of our party had to leave before then due to work commitments so he didn't get any breakfast at all - we even asked if he could just have a croissant and a glass of juice but the reply was just a 'no'
Grand public rooms made a great setting for afternoon tea and nice to relax in lounge in evening.
Breakfast room could not cope with volume of business and long delay for food.
The entrance, reception area, beautiful old grandeur. Sense of history of the building. Period features.
Dreadful music in beautiful ballroom reception area. Cheap leather furniture in this area. Bathroom smelly and felt unclean. Carpet in bedroom, mirrors, chandeliers and bedroom units dirty. Outside bedroom window, rubbish lying on the roof. Staff disinterested. Place felt tacky and a feeling that this grand building was not getting the respect and upkeep it deserved.
Location near to train station
Room right next to lifts, it was like trying to sleep in a lift shaft.
Nice big bedroom Excellent location
Only 2 lifts for whole hotel Decor old fashioned Staff curt and unfriendly Breakfast way too expensive Too many smokers crowding the doorway . Get rid of revolving door , it's dangerous !
After moving to new room stay was quite pleasant.
First room offering was poor. On 5th floor right beside lift machinery. Had to move!
location the staff were pleasant.
the room was clean but a bit shabby. the hotel is overdue a refurbishment as it's a bit outdated
The foyer, that's where the good stuff ends
Beds, bathroom, food (particularly bad), facilities (no iron or trouser press in room).
Beautiful architecture. Art deco features. Stunning lighting and sweeping staircases.
The food could be improved.
Excellent breakfast. Service very good. Restaurant could do with a face lift but did not detract from the quality and service of the breakfast in a very busy hotel.
Noise in the bedroom from outside. Early in the morning, trade vans etc.
grand décor esp main suite/lounge location to shops and attrations friendly staff
one lift not working shower not working maid entering room at 8.00am in morning while still in bed
Queues when booking in at reception and the room was very dated and cold ask for double received twin which was very uncomfortable would not stay here again.
The size of the room, house keeping services and wifi access poor, non existent in room. The slowest lifts in the world
large warm room
bit dated but was clean and tidy
Very close to station and night life
The fact that whilst I was using my toilet another couple came walking into my room as they were given keys. My room wasn't serviced all weekend, there was some kind of drug rehabilitation weekend there and everyone was right outside the door drinking cans of beer and smoking, hardly any tea coffee or sugar in the room and then, in the morning, we were woken up by even more guests walking into our room, so, what ever you do, take all of your belongings out with you as it seems that an open door policy is the norm
- location - very spacious room.
- difficult and dirty entry to the hotel, always dozens of people smoking and blocking entrance - noisy heating - it was necassary to knock hard on the pipes to stop the noise - could be cleaner - little shabby
The entertainment was good, the public areas were clean and comfortable
The noise from the lift all night was horrendous
Comfy beds and right in the heart of the city.Friendly staff and facilities apart from the lifts
Lifts took an absolute age to arrive at each floor and far too many people waiting to use them at all hours of the day and night.Smoking is permitted right on the entrance steps and as we don't smoke we found this uncomfortable and rather an eyesore.Wont be staying again I am afraid to say
It is in the city center.
I had to clean the toiled by my one. The hole hotel is dirty and a lot things a brocken and not working. The service is not existing. For exemple I forgot my book in the hotelroom I get there a day later and ask for the book at the reseption. The answer was I have to call the houskeeping they are not in responsible for this. They awable from 8-16:00 oclock. I have to work at this time so can't she manage this? No. And all this for a ridiculous high price. Thank you never ever will come back.
Location of hotel is great and room was very grand but tired
No mention that NA had taken over hotel the weekend we had booked for! Packs of smokers that you have to fight thought to get in to hotel, could not turn radiator off in room as has no valves on it, air handler/air conditioning unit directly outside room window, bathroom dated and very hard to get a just right temperature on shower as no thermostat and tap still runs when using the shower so bath fills with water, rubbish and smell of smoking in the hallways, no matteres protectors on the bed. Advertised as recently refurbished but that was 7 years ago and only partial. This hotel used to be amazing but now it's definatly not 3 star.
