The place is a real institution in Liverpool and you do get a sense of arrival when you turn up. Everyone who's anyone ever visiting the city has stayed there at some time and that sense of heritage does hang over the hotel. Unfortunately, it does tend to trade a little on past glories. It does what it does reasonably well, but there's a gap between the glamour and excellence of the 30's aura and today's visitor experience, which is a shame. |

It was a central location. The food was nice. I did not like the rooms. The first night I stayed was awful the room was really hot even though the heater was not on. The noise all night e.g outside and inside the hotel pipes banging screeching noises hardly slept. I complained and( I sure they Knew I was genuine by the bags under my eyes) we were moved to a different room on the second night which was a big improvement still some screeching noise but room was normal temperature. The hotel does a lot of business from bus tours but it is obvious that whatever money is made does not go back into the hotel which is a pity because it could be really good. |

The hotel is a landmark/historic building, and although could use a facelift to restore grandure, it was good value for the money, great location near train station. The staff could have done a better job organizing the check in process, I was assigned a room which had not been serviced after the prior guest. |

The location was ideal for what we wished to do which was mainly shopping and sightseeing The room was stuffy and dusty and we were unable to open a window for fresh air. This is the only hotel where we have stayed where we were expected to pay for the leisure facilities. |

The Location is very central. The shower is a bit dated. The decor was also shabby. We were also very unlucky on this visit as our flight was cancelled and we lost one nights accomodation. We thought we would get a meal voucher at least from the hotel, but that didn,t happen. |

The hotel has opulent period decor and a lovely sense of spaciousness. The cooked breakfast on the first morning of our stay was in a poor condition due to standing on hotplates for too long. |

room had a bad smell.all the springs in the bed were busted and the furniture was older than me? my 10 year old tried to open the bedside locker and it fell apart and almost broke his toe. on the 2nd night i changed rooms and that was pretty run down , but at least it was clean and smell free |

A very unique experience totally different from today's chain hotels. Features reminiscent of the glory days that this hotel certainly had in the twenties and thirties, before going steadily downhill since! Very good british breakfast. General state of dilapidation. Accessories (bathroom, TV, lighting...) totally outdated and mafunctioning. Room very noisy the first night, second room better. Staff indifferent. |

Friendly staff as were all the Liverpool people Need to clarify if tick for double/twin room, that are only allocated a double room, really uncomfortable for two women sharing. Rooms need update, take a look at premier hotel in Liverpool, most recommended hotel and always booked out but same price as yourself. The location is perfect and the building is so grand it is a petty you get to the bedroom and are present with the oldest furniture, lamps with shades falling off, lights switch in strange places. Investment is needed in interior design and I would recommend it to everyone |

The room was spacious and the location was excellent It is looking quite old now and I didn't like the staff or the idea that on each door was a card for an escort servive - I was travelling with my son and it was embarassing |

Close to the railway station. Upgraded old hotel, my original choice for making the reservation Poor bedroom design. I could not watch the television unless on the bed. The room illumination was poor. The double door into the room made it feel like a cell. |

The hotel couldnt be more central and handy for shopping and nightlife. The reception desk is way too small and busy for the size of the hotel. Queing up for a lot of the time. Also the lifts are a total disaster as there are only 2 for the entire hotel and they never come down from the top 2 floors. |
