Nothing, worst hotel I have ever stayed at. No aercon had to sleep with windows open as to clamy in room which you wouldent swing a cat in,had to close windows because of noise and even then could not get any sleep. There 3 nights and got about 4 hours sleep for the 3 nights, I.e, you could hear everything going on next door, plus sound of seagulls outside, and bin lorrys, and street sweepers, plus every drunkin yob you could think of shouting outside, plus paided well over the odds, ie booked well in advanced but found people hu booked 24hr or just arrived got a better deal than me which really pissed me off, when I questioned this at counter with a rather full in your face manager I was told, well these are the prices you agreed to so that is it. Never again will I stay there and would rather sleep on the street. Tony.

It was near to the shopping centre and it was cheap. The breakfast was rubbish, cold toast, weak tea, tasteless sausage and watery beans. There is no parking either, we had to park 200 metres away.

It was very central for shopping and the train station which was needed to travel from the Airport, stay over night, train to Birmingham Hospital then train in the evening to Airport the next day. I suppose I would stay there again only for the convenience of the location but would not have paid the full price that the room should have been and think what I paid even at a discounted amount was over the top. Having read customer comments before staying at the hotel I didnt know what to expect as most were not very good. I would agree that it does need a bit of an uplift with modernisation and a lick of paint here and there, furniture needed updating and the lifts were slow (only 1 working) and a bit smelly! However the room was clean and the beds comfy. The self-service evening meal at £9.99 all you can eat was not very good but the breakfast was excellent.

The Britannia Hotel is in an excellent location for shopping, also a very short distance from the main railway station, Birmingham New Street. The staff were very attentive and courteous. Also on the Mezzanine floor above the reception area free Wifi is available which is always a bonus. Sadly the bedrooms were very shabby and the decor throughout the hotel was also very tired and dated. Bedrooms on floor 5 are very small, so small in fact we asked to be moved to a larger room as we had to climb over a bed and move a chair each time we wanted in the wardrobe, even then the wardrobe door couldn't be opened properly making it difficult to actually hang up any clothes. The staff were very good and moved us and the new bedroom was larger but just as shabby as the one before. Next question asks if I would recommend the hotel to others, Yes - it's very handy for shops etc , but, No - if you like a little luxury when you go away.

Not 3 Star as listed. No sleep from 2am due to loud noise from young men running and shouting down corridor and noise from nearby room which was intolerable and frightening.Somebody was leaning against my bedroom door using a mobile phone and talking very loudly.People must be booking a room for 2 people going clubbing and bringing their friends back to party.I presume that Mid-week is cheaper.I got dressed and left room to report incident to front desk who put me in another room.Day manager refused to discuss issue with me.

The location, that's it! Going up to the room the corridors were dirty and smelly with the maids leaving their cleaning products and bed sheets etc all over the floor making it a hazard to even get past. The room was small, damp, and unpleasant. Single panned windows made the room chilly and didn't buffer any noise from outside at all, which being on the main shopping street of Birmingham, wasn't exactly ideal. Both my girlfriend and I agreed the bed was the most uncomfortable we have ever slept in. If it wasn't for our very early start the next morning to continue travelling, and the ideal location, we would have never of stayed here, and will never again.

Its central location and reasonable price The interior is dingy and depressing and the corridors are very poorly ventilated, so that it is an ordeal walking through them to the lift.

I have been staying at the Britannia Hotel in Birmingham for some years now when in the area. The price I paid was good value for an ensuite room. The hotel is generally looking very tired and in need of a lot of refurbishment in the both the public and private areas with new carpets, fresh paint and general spruce up required to bring the hotel up to presebt day standards. The dining room also needs up-dating. I had the £9.95 set dinner which was really reasonable in price but the quality of the food was not very good : it was supposed to be their festive menu but the only difference was that the meat was turkey which had already been sliced some time before and kept on a hotplate - at least their usual carvery is meat freshly carved. I would have been prepared to pay, say, £15 + for a better quality meal. I paid £39 for a single room with full breakfast (plus £2 for using a debit card). If you can get a room for a similar price and not expect luxury this hotel is acceptable.

Receptionist ignored us on check in, hotel is old and tatty. In magir need of a refurbishment. Key to our room did not work and we were on the 6th floor at the end of the corridor. Wallpaper hanging off the ceiling and extra bed in our room that looked like it was something out of a hospital. The only good thing was the location and the price. The hotel was obviously nice at one point and has been left to get run down. Would not go back. The only difference between here and a travelodge is that a travelodge are upfront about who they are and what they provide.

My son and I travel to the uk to watch football every month and we have never stayed in a dirtier, noisy and non child friendly place ever.health and safety should shut it down.we didnt sleep a wink in the two nights we stayed and ruined our stay in Birmingham and just to point out the reception desk was full of complaining tourists when we were checking out.I hope as a trusted website you will look into these matters and i stress i am not a snob.a good nights sleep and clean surroundings is all you look for when staying at a hotel.thank you

The rooms were clean and spacious and the beds were exceptionally comfortable. The price was very reasonable for a city centre location. The main light in the bedroom (as well as the bedside lamp) did not work, which made coming back into the room in the evening a lot less pleasant.

The Location The temperature inside the room is very hot, in the night people are talking in other rooms and I could hear their screaming and shouting in my room!!! My last night there after midnight the fire alarm started working giving false warning!! This hotel was a nightmare for me. The only advantage was the location.

“a warm welcome from the start, plenty off staff to assist at the checking in and departing procedures, informative and helpful, rooms clean and tidy although a little tight in the bathroom.
