Outdated and dark. Did not feel clean.
Receptionist was pleasant and helpful
Rubbish in the hall way, Rubbish at the entrance, bathroom was tatty. The wash basin leaked and I woke to a pool of water under the sink. Really unsatisfactory.
location, architecture, cleanliness, hot water, clean towels
very tired feeling, carpets in hall and stairs worn out, the bar was closed at 9.00pm so nothing available. Obviously seen better days.
It was in the city centre
The room was very dirty with what looked like blood stains on the carpet, the noise form other rooms was horrendous, the bathroom was dirty, apart from a hoover the room looked like it hadn't been cleaned for months. Would not stay there again.
The location is the best thing about this hotel. It's a 5 minute walk from New Street Station and every shop you could ever need is in walking distance.
The hotel rooms could do with a bit more updating. Some more inviting colours etc but otherwise there wasn't a lot I didn't like about the hotel.
The hotel was near the train station and near the venue I was going to.
The door wouldn't lock form the inside. I had to put the chair in front. There were crumbs on the floor near the bed and the room didn't look as though it had been hovered for some time at least not under the TV table. The pillows smelt of tobacco smoke and I don't smoke.
the staff the rooms the cleanliness
Comfortable and not too expensive
Rather noisy clientele who woke me at 4a.m. with racing around the hotel corridors and shouting.
generous selection of toiletries. spotless bedlinen and towels
Stains on carpet, and general scruffy appearance. Noise from street.
Poor cleaning. Dust on the lights was not clean for the week neither was the carpet cleaned properly. Our room was not clean on the day before we left no clean cups nor towels. When leaving there was no one at the reception.
The hotel was very run down and dirty. I refused 2 rooms due to dirty
Close to train station.
No frills but it was adequate.
Tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
No double glazing therefore lots of noise from the buskers outside.
The location is great
Everything else about it. The mould The smell The thin walls Dirty bath Terrible state of repair.
Overpriced dump that bore no relation to its website. Tatty furniture, scruffy decor, grubby bathroom, tiny space and no WiFi in rooms. It's a throwback to the shabby railway hotels of 20 years ago.
The staff were really friendly and helpful - happy to chat and give advice and directions. The room was large with a good sized ensuite. City centre location.
It was hard to find - spent ages in heavy traffic looking and eventually had to ask a local to show me where it was. Unable to find recommended car park. Tip: Call hotel to ask for sat nav co-ordinates.
Great location for central Birmingham. Excellent Breakfast buffet. Clean room and bathroom with toiletries. My TV didn't work but was replaced promptly with one that did.
My room overlooked an internal light well with air conditioning outlets so it was noisy and dark. Hotel ambience and decor is generally outdated. I think it is going going to need a makeover sometime soon.......
Lovely room, great sandwiches, location ok. Cute little toiletries left on the towel, warmed me heart.
Lack of visable electric sockets. We couldn't watch the television the same time as boiling the kettle. Also, needed sockeyt for medical equipment, socket somewhere in wardrobe. Although relatively clean, the headboards were dusty at head level.
No sockets in room, even fixed trouser press in cupboard had plug but no where to plus it in to! The hotel is old and very much in need of a refurb. Breakfast was bland.
Sour faced staff. Completely run down. Dirty, dusty, stains everywhere. Pictures on website DO NOT reflect the hotel.
Rooms were shabby, curtains smelled of must. Carpets were worn and unclean. Limited sockets to charge phone iPod. Lift took an eternity to call. Tiny reception area with constant ques.
My room had a dirty bathtub and I asked for a different room. My new room had pubic hair on the toilet seat and hair in the bath tub. This is disgusting and I asked for a refund. I was denied a refund and was rudely told that I can check out (without a refund) and go find another hotel or stay in my room. Since I couldn't even use the bathroom, I had to get myself another hotel room but I didn't want to give them the satisfaction of paying for a night and leaving the hotel room free for them to resell. So I stayed at a nearby hotel and checked out of this dreadful and horrendous place in the morning. Basically, unusable hotel room and the staff is awful.
Staff at night are like bodyguards door keepers. The bed made noise if you change the position.
It was all good
The bed was comfortable enough to sleep. Great location as we stayed to be near the NIA as we had tickets for Lee Evans. It wasn't as noisy either considering the location.
The room was very old and dated it was something out of the 60s. I work in a hotel myself and the receptionist was quite rude, gave no information on the hotel in terms of breakfast or even the restaurant facilities. Just literally gave us our key and pretty much acted like she wanted us gone. Don't think i would stay in this hotel again! Your staff keep business and due to one receptionist I would not come back.
