Location was great price was great
Location to train station.
All basic necessities are provided, in a clean, comfortable setting with a friendly atmosphere. Excellent value for money in a central location.
I'm often tempted to go "up market" in central Birmingham, as there are so many options, but I nearly always end up here, it's a friendly comfortable place offering superb value for money, very close to New Street station.
No free wi-fi, issues in dropping in a bag for a few hours before check-in, exceptionally dated decor, poor quality beds, no phones in the rooms
Room was spacious - facilities good
Staff sour faced (except the lady serving behind the bar, who was quite pleasant). Window didn't close properly. Two bedroom lights weren't working. CR TV with very poor signal and terrible sound. No hot water when I got in. Breakfast buffet was okay but a bit tasteless.
This hotel was awful. It was dirty, very old fashioned, our balcony door didnt close and despite asking twice no one came to fix it until day 2. Had to move my bed by the bathroom where the only radiator was as it was freezing in the room. I would never stay here again!
The staff on reception during the day were unaproachable and not helpful. the room wasnt clean, dated furniture, lack of plug sockets. the wiring in the room looked dangerous. one socket for 2 people isn't enough. the phone didn't work and the smell of smoke was overpowering. my colleague woke up wheezing and covered in bed bug bites and the bathroom was grubby. The whole hotel needs a revamp.
The girl at bar was very pleasant had a good laugh with her,bar prices good also.
Small twin room Uncomfortable beds Bit outdated okay for weekend or stag doo with lads
central Birmingham location
hotel is tired and rather worn out.
Soap must b 2.
Staff unwelcoming, entrance dirty, decor outdated, bedroom like being back in the 70's, bed was clean but that was all it was, bathroom awful, even toilet paper was cheap. Terrible hotel
Hotel Britannia is located in a very good place right on the High Street (New Street).
Not quite clean. Table lamp bulb was not working. Drinking water was not provided and we need to run after the stuffs to get drinking water. Room was not clean. No wi-fi in the room.
The price was reasonable and great location
The staff where lovely and friendly on reception really professional and helpful xx
It was extremely noisy outside our room we where moved which helped the room light system and plugs where very poor and confusing , the cleanliness of the rooms where bad and not cleaned properly , I would not use this hotel again in a hurry . Also there was no porridge for breakfast which they said they had ran out of yes right more likey could not be bothered to make it . The breakfast was fine besides that except for stewed tea xx
We had no welcome when we arrived, the receptionist was blunt, unhelpful and unpleasant. We had trouble finding our room as we were not directed where to go and there were no obvious signs when we exited the lift. The hallways and rooms smelt musty and the room wasn't comfortable. I had booked a twin room but we had a double bed which was tiny. There was only one plug in the room which was inconvenient. I wanted to get a drink, slightly difficult with no signs where to go. When I finally found the bar there were no staff to be found, I asked the staff member in the restaurant but she couldn't serve me and told me to go to reception and ask which was unhelpful. After waiting at reception for 5 minutes I was finally told they would send someone up to serve me, so after going up and down the stairs several times someone finally arrived and suprisingly she was very friendly and helpful but then told me I couldn't pay by card or add the cost of the drinks to my room, so I had to exit the hotel to find a cash machine. This was the last thing I wanted to do after a long journey!! By this time I couldn't muster the strength or energy to go and see if we could have the twin room we had booked!! I don't like complaining and I'm not usually a moaner but I wouldnt stay here again if they paid me!
The hotel is disgusting, the furniture and decor is so old, the bathroom was so dirty that i felt sick i had to clean the floor before i could step in it. Lucky i brought my own antibacterial wipes i had to clean mirrors as it had stains all over and the bed sheets stank of old bleach so i woke up with that smell. Staff is so rude and unprofessional. The experience is so bad i cant even describe.
I stayed on the 9th floor..enjoyed the view from the window. Big room. Nice TV. Fridge. Jacuzzi bath.
Location, solid walls
just 2 mins from the railway station
long wait to check in
Local to Birmingham New Street station
Bedroom not very clean, bath rusty, only one cup in the bedroom, although requested one on arrival.Ordered a 6.30am wake up call, Deputy manager greeted us huffing and puffing as my sister and I were coming out of the bed room door, although he was most apologetic and stated there were telephone problems and he had difficulty leaving Reception unmanned. Disappointed stay, my sister had flown in from Malta and we were traveling to London on the Friday.
The location is Birmingham Central next door to Primark and 2 minutes from the train station.
The bed was not comfortable, it needed a new matress and everytime you turned over it would creek, so a new bedframe too please. The decor is old it needs to be revamped and the curtains need to fit properly.
Central location. Friendly staff. Clean bathroom. Warm room.
Remote control would not work. TV came on when you switched on door room light.
