Finding Hotel and Parking, Hotel is old and tired, needs a real face lift...
The price was good for a hotel smack in the middle of Birmingham.
It's perfectly clean and all. But the rooms are out of date really. There was a TV from the 90s, and only one plug socket. The others were those circular-pin things that became obsolete in the 70s. The bed was too narrow. The window was cracked. The carpet was a bit worn. But who cares for 37 quid?
Staff on reception was very rude.
Outdated and tired building and facilities
Great location - plus there was a balcony overlooking New St
Desperately in need of a refurb - faded grandeur big stylee!
Smell bad in whole hotel.like gas or something, same as prewious time.bad windows.wind was blowing thru, was cold.dirty from outside and inside.
Brilliant location to new St station and loved the fact we had a smoking room
The hotel was conveniently placed for the local facilities.
I thought the lack of a view detracted somewhat.
Fixtures and fittings old and shabby.
we liked the hotel as it was near the bull ring and all the shops
didn't like the room as it was dull and could not see anything out of window as it was on looking other rooms like a ally way there was a lot of niose in the hotel at night (young girls) and didn't get to sleep gone 1,oclock, I would,nt say the room was all that clean
Outdated and dark. Did not feel clean.
Our room this time was quieter than our last visit and the refurbished room was very good. For us it was good to be near the train station.
Nothing that we did not particularly like but it would be good to one day get the outside windows cleaned?
Receptionist was pleasant and helpful
Rubbish in the hall way, Rubbish at the entrance, bathroom was tatty. The wash basin leaked and I woke to a pool of water under the sink. Really unsatisfactory.
Room was comfortable, clean and very warm, and central location was good.
Extremely noisy well into the early hours and staff were a bit abrupt and not very welcoming.
location, architecture, cleanliness, hot water, clean towels
very tired feeling, carpets in hall and stairs worn out, the bar was closed at 9.00pm so nothing available. Obviously seen better days.
It is a old hotel but It was good to stay on my bussines tryp at Birmingham. Normally all guest (except weekends) were like me, peopple travelling by bussines, quiet, working.. Now the have starting to accept groups of young people, in my case were italians teenagers. Imposible Sleep, shouting, playing guitar till late, singing..wifi was horrible and only at the bar..but it was full o tennagers with their mobile phone. Normally, in my hotel when there is rude guest i go to speak with them. I know lots of clients complaint about this group and reception didn´t do anything.
*Breakfast Buffet available from 7:30am every morning at the restaurant. *Kind loving staff.
*Room need a bit of Touching up.
Everything was nice and clean. Really comfortable room.
Think the TV should be updated seems really old other than That everything was great.
Decor, thin walls, single glazed windows, uncomfortable beds, doors slamming, extortionate cost of breakfast, lousy staff.
Room was dirty, was like it hadn't been cleaned. Bath had grime in. Door WOULDNT lock! Staff extremely rude. Price of the hotel is too much.
The jacuzzi bath was a good touch and the location was good, wasn't too far from anything
I don't think the 'executive' room was very executive, wasn't worth the money and wasn't very comfortable
Great location in the heart of town, v near where we needed to be quite early the following morning.
Heating in the room on far too high when we arrived. Big noisy group of Italian students could be heard across the atrium of the building late at night - had to have our window open as wide as possible to try and keep the temperature down. Decor a little tired. No great problem but I've been in far better for the money!
It was in the city centre
The room was very dirty with what looked like blood stains on the carpet, the noise form other rooms was horrendous, the bathroom was dirty, apart from a hoover the room looked like it hadn't been cleaned for months. Would not stay there again.
The location is the best thing about this hotel. It's a 5 minute walk from New Street Station and every shop you could ever need is in walking distance.
The hotel rooms could do with a bit more updating. Some more inviting colours etc but otherwise there wasn't a lot I didn't like about the hotel.
Breakfast was good. Location excellent. Good shower.
Very poor welcome by reception. No directions to rooms or welcome of any sort. Window did not shut in room so was subject to noise of bars and shops from street all night. Heating was on full. Only one modern plug in whole of room - all others were relics from the 70's. Uncomfortable bed. Toilet hadn't been flushed or cleaned. Television barely received a signal.
