The check inn service was fast but the staff was rude, The bedroom could have done with a good clean dust on top of skirting boards. The Breakfast was of a very poor standard toast was warm soft bread rather than fresh toast.
The water pressure and the fact it was in the shopping high street.
Booked a premium twin on line, when can to boom in they had us down as a standard double.told them this was wrong, they then gave us a triple which wasn't the cleanest. Finally was given a twin, wouldn't of said this was their premium either. Upset from start to finish.
There was no wifi at the rooms
The hotel is in a good location to the shops and Christmas market.
When you opened the door to the room it smelt musty and the windows were constantly steamed up, one of the glass tumblers in the bathroom was dirty (toothpaste still on rim) and the sink in the bathroom had a very large crack in it. We had a disturbed nights sleep as the people in the next room were very noisy into the early hours and we were also awaken by a large bang at 4am. We were also not allowed to leave our suitcases at the hotel and had to take them around the shops and Christmas market. We had been able to leave them there on previous visits.
Good customer care
Right in the centre of Birmingham amongst shops Its cheap and it's good for value
I liked the price for smack bang in the middle of the city centre. The room was a good size with lovely green curtains, lamps and tables.
I think no matter what the price bargain or not cleanness should not be comprised. I counted 5 hairs around the bath I thought thank God I am not staying the night.
Erm..... I suppose it's very central and was only 59 quid a night when everything else was at least double. Didn't eat or drink there so can't comment (residents bar closes at 11 sharp!).
Stayed on 5th floor, very dated. Room overlooked new street and and no double glazing... Or even single glazing that fits. Bed is straight out of a Mexican prison and television set from crossroads. Rooms were clean but 10 years overdue a refurb.
We loved being in the heart of the city and the Christmas market. The Britannia is like a time capsule among the super-modern shops. The staff were all friendly and helpful, the bar had a nice atmosphere. The room was comfy. Ideal for us all in all.
The people next door were a bit too audible early on Monday morning. They had the tv on loud and then shouted over it!
Location was good. Staff were helpful... We were moved to another room for working toilet facilities.
It is a smelly dirty hotel, of very poor standard. The window latches were so badly rusted, they were siezing and difficult to close. The toilet would not flush. The inside lock on the bedroom door would not turn. Carpet in bedroom was badly stained. corridors smelt of sewerage. horriblle place. Would never recommend to anyone.
Literally within 2 minutes walking distance of bullring shopping centre, bars, restaurants and Birmingham new street train station. Went during the Christmas market which was right on the doorstep.
No double glazed windows so was noisy at night. Generator from the market going all night didn't help, neither did the window not closing all the way.
very little to be honest
the bath room was dirty ... the plug holes in the bath were rusty and the décor had some thing to be desired .. the TV was very old in fact had a tube in the back !!! the hotel is looking rough, the widows from the room were disgusting and looked like they have not been cleaned since the Victorian times !!! reception was full of complaining people and as a whole was unclean and un kept ... not a hotel I will ever visit again.
Location was great for what we wanted. Room and bed were comfortable. Jet Bath was a win.
Room was slightly outdated and a bit ugly, but comfortable. Furnishings gave the room a bit if a grubby feel although the room itself was clean. Room service was unavailable.
It's in the centre of the city
I asked for a double room and the bed was two single beds pushed together. The bed sheets didn't fit, and despite there being a mattress topper, it was very uncomfortable.
Location is the best thing about this hotel.
The room hadn't been vacuumed when I checked in or for the duration of my stay (four nights). There was no soap when I checked in. I informed reception, who said they would have someone bring some up. It was two days later that the cleaners actually left any toiletries. I had a view of a brick wall.It was noisy (some weird noise at night and also a party on the floor below me) which made it difficult to sleep. The restaurant seemed to be closed on one night, and no food was available til 7.00 pm on another night, despite the room menu stating an earlier time.
Food and position
Decor very worn and old, in and out of reception like a cattle market.
Location very central
Looks grubby , area generally felt unsafe with lots of undesirables hanging around the entrance which is in a back street. Common areas and rooms look like they are out of 1930's (not in a good way). Cracked worktops and worn out fittings - then again it was only £79 in Dec.
It was cheap and centrally located
The room and the bed smelled awful. The decor was dated and the artwork frightful!
Rude night staff.
great location and slept very well
sadly it needs a lot of money to keep up with the other hotels
Cleanliness how much it cost and noisey
Great location for shops
They don't answer the phone, tried for 3 days before we arrived, costly at 10p per minute. No one answers emails, even when sent 3 days in advance. Poor attitude to guests who had booked in good faith on what was advertised as available & then not when arrived Early closure & Lack of bar as published, ie 1pm to 7pm, Came back after pictures 10.55pm, bar closed. Came back after shopping & expected to relax with a few drinks for the afternoon at 2.45, nope, asked what happening, was told was a private function on so no bar till 3pm, 3.15 asked what happening about bar as no one there, told still dealing with private function. Don't expect to get what they advertise. Restaurant is not a what it advertises. We stayed for 2 days, if it wasn't for the location we would have left after 1 day
Location ideal for shopping, and visiting. Whole hotel lovely and warm.
Bathroom dirty, did not want to use the shower. Mould on window sills in bedroom and cobwebs in the bedroom. Duvet covers had holes and hairs (!!!!!?) Only one thin pillow per bed.
No non-smoking room available No mention about checkout time (at 11) Not worth the money (have stayed elsewhere for cheaper and much nicer room. Will not visit again.
