We like the location.
Cobwebs in bedroom, generally very poor up keep. Sofas all ripped. Invited my parents for afternoon tea. Had to wait an hour even though we were the only ones in bar. No hot chocolate for kids. Staff rude and untidy.
the price of the 125ml wines at one pound 95p at the bar should be kept, great value. the pool and spa also very good, lovely food, good price.
flat pillow, bit low for sleeping
the fact had to wait over one hour for my meal on th tuesday night ,offered no explanation why it took so long
I love the grandness on approach to this hotel, inside is dated, mismatched but rather quirky and appealing. This hotel can't quite decide what it wants to be, but for the price I pay I can't grumble. Mostly staff are fantastic and helpful, apart from a couple of the older staff who can come across as quite rude. Check in always been an easy process and staff helpful. Grounds are fantastic, especially in the summer. Spindles health club is a lovely extra
The food is probably the worse I have eaten in a hotel, I liken it to old fashioned school dinners-this needs a drastic improvement and I will not be eating here again! Also whilst the majority of staff are fantastic, I found one of the more mature ladies to be abrupt and quite rude (on both my visits so it wasn't just a bad day!!)
Food, location, cost, facilities
Slightly old and tired but if refurbished would be much more expensive
The hallways smelt of old smoke. The room was basic and bed was uncomfortable. The breakfast was dreadful to the extent I didn't eat it preferring to go hungry.
All good , nice and warm
The surroundings were very nice. Having use of the leisure centre included in my stay was appreciated. Room size was good for a single.
I could hear people talking, as well as the TV, in other rooms. The door opposite my room would bang shut. The TV in my room was old with just basic channels. The bed could've been a large single.
lovely building and location.
food was poor. rooms dated and shower very weak.
Staff and rooms were lovely. Beautiful grounds too.
Liked the Leisure facillities, room nice and warm as it was a cold day and the breakfast, the lady in the breakfast room taking entries and seating people is excellent, Ive stayed twice now and have noted on both occasions how good she is with people
Poor mobile phone reception, the restraunt is open sided and the outside doors of the hotel are somtimes left open
Facilities , staff particularly cleaning staff very helpful. Location excellent and really like that there are so many places you can sit and have a drink & a blether.
Coach load there on the Saturday night very noisy, music kept us awake well after midnight. We were unable to get breakfast the next morning as we had to leave and couldn't wait a further half hour before being seated- felt it could have been avoided by just letting folks know when booking in it was likely to be very busy and delays were expected
We had a room through booking.com and only paid £40. Room small but clean and reasonably comfortable. Helpful staff.
Arrived at 1130pm and head office had apparently switched off the heating in the rooms. It was very cold in there but the receptionist sorted out a second quilt for us and by the time we woke up in the morning the heating had come in. TV very old.
Great rates / bar was good . Didn't try the food but it looked good .
Just abut tired / needs updating . Old fashioned big TVs in every room .
comfortable, clean, and welcoming
Noisy cold room
The location and quality of the hotel was very good. The hotel staff were pleasant and helpful. Some staff were also friendly. We ate in the Crompton Restsurant and the staff we very pleasant and friendly, although the food was a little over priced, especially the additional vegetable choices at £2.50 per portion. Having said that the portions were a very good size and good quality. In saying that the good was expensive, I'm comparing the prices with that in the Jenny Restaurant, which is a carvery. That seemed excellent value at £10.
The only down side was the fact that the bed was too hard and the heating didn't come on until 4pm. The room was cold on arrival.
The hallways smelt of cigarette smoke, the rooms especially bathrooms need updating, shower temperature was hard to regulate.
The location and building is very good.. But was given a room which smelt of cigarette smoke, I was offered another room, but it didn't have a window!!! So had a refund and stayed elsewhere -
Grand building when viewed from exterior
Extremely dated interior throughout. Carpets wearing through, paint flaking off the walls. Would not stay here again, don't be fooled by the photos on the website.
nice pleasant stay
the rooms and place was too hot
*Staff friendly and helpful *Food Nice *Value for money *clean
The look of the property but apart from that nothing
Everything... tired looking, scruffy, food poor, springs coming through beds, mould in the bathroom.... very disappointing... would not ever return or recommend
Leaving in the morning.
- Rude staff criticising customers aloud - nowhere to sit to eat nuked bar meal; had to stand at bar - to quote my grandad the cleaners must live in a round house - breakfast poor - coach parties had pub quiz in function room which was so loud it dominated the entire bar area
