The hallways smelt of cigarette smoke, the rooms especially bathrooms need updating, shower temperature was hard to regulate.
The location and building is very good.. But was given a room which smelt of cigarette smoke, I was offered another room, but it didn't have a window!!! So had a refund and stayed elsewhere -
Grand building when viewed from exterior
Extremely dated interior throughout. Carpets wearing through, paint flaking off the walls. Would not stay here again, don't be fooled by the photos on the website.
nice pleasant stay
the rooms and place was too hot
*Staff friendly and helpful *Food Nice *Value for money *clean
The look of the property but apart from that nothing
Everything... tired looking, scruffy, food poor, springs coming through beds, mould in the bathroom.... very disappointing... would not ever return or recommend
Leaving in the morning.
- Rude staff criticising customers aloud - nowhere to sit to eat nuked bar meal; had to stand at bar - to quote my grandad the cleaners must live in a round house - breakfast poor - coach parties had pub quiz in function room which was so loud it dominated the entire bar area
Good breakfast and helpful staff
In need of a spruce up and Christmas music on 5 November!
the lounge area
the hotel was cold in the bar area the food was very poor both dinner and breakfast.
The location and the grounds
The place is old dirty and shabby. Telephone and wi fi access very poor.no mobile signal. General state of common areas poor, shabby and dirty. The whole place needs a modern face lift
Excellent location in a historic building.
Room was very worn. The shower head was split and sprayed the entire bath. They also seemed very under staffed. Appears they need some aggressive management.
building beautiful but needs some investment
not very clean - bathroom old
The bed The facilities Kept awake until 3am because of a wedding Can hear people above and next door Badly needs an upgrade and rethink
the location and facilities are excellent and the staff friendly and helpful
bits of the hotel are a little 'tired' and there were some small errors from the staff but all part and parcel of a corporate hotel and nothing sufficient to spoil the overall experience
Location and exterior impressive. Rooms clean but need tlc.
Parking was a problem. Had to park on grass verge eventually. Didn't stay for breakfast as past experience wasn't great. This time didn't look any better as there were queues again.
Great location and the property
The food from the restaurant and breakfast was unacceptable and service
Hotel was beautiful staff was friendly and very helpful i had a spa treatment facial that was lovely would defiantly stay again!
Nothing was happy start To end
location and the grounds, and the beauty of the period building.
Room was in poor location with no outlook, was run down & in need of decoration (water stains on the wall paper) thick dust on the curtains & pelmets and the bedside wall lamps & torn & dirty net curtain . We booked room only so can't comment on the food.
The swimming pool and spa and the helpful staff. Lovely location
The bed was a little hard , A little run down
Location not far from local amenities. Lovely grounds for walking. Clearly signposted areas of the hotel. Decoration in rooms were tasteful and included everything needed.
Car parking was terrible! Not enough spaces at all.
Very friendly and helpful staff, amazing location and brilliant value for money, Carvery excellent
crowded, poor parking, long past its best
Executive room was newly decorated and very spacious with a settee and comfortable arm chair. Excellent shower.
The bar area and Jenny's restaurant, which is used for breakfast, are badly in need of renovation and updating.
The spa staff were good and the treatments were good. All of the staff talked too seem to know but the "management didn't listen"
Cleanliness, tired and old hotel, and poor cleanliness in pool, restaurant and public areas. Room was the cleanest and variable even though old and tired.
The receptionist was very professional bearing in mind Booking.com had overbooked their rooms. I can only review on a short stay but the location was inviting, all the staff I had contact with were helpful and the room, food and beverages were good value for money.
