The room was generally clean , but on moving towels in the bathroom moths flew out of the towels..the bathroom needed a n urgent refit, [ which the hotel apologised for as they were in the process of upgrading rooms, a slow process??. the bathroom floor was poor , lino skirtings not fixed to the walls, shower, bath wc and wash hand basin were all poor quality.
Bed was generally ok , quite firm. Heating was not controllable so at times tyhe room was over hot.
We decided to have dinner in the hotel on our first night, we booked a table for 8.30pm and arrived early at 8.10pm , meals started at 6.30pm , First Course there was no soup left , so we chose tomhave s tuna salad. which was fine.
The 2nd course was help your self from the Servery, we looked at all the dishes and the meat had been under a hot lamp and was dried up, all other dishes had been in their dishes and appeared to be drying up and cngealed together and were certainly not presented well and looked vey un appetising. . We decided to leave the restaurant at this point, due to poor quality of food on offer , I offered tp pay for the 1st course, but the waiter said I did not need to pay. We then went to Wetherspoons and finished our dinner for the evening.Excellent.. We also asked for a wine list and was told there wasn't one available and we would have to go to the bar to get any drinks we required , a poor service.
Breakfast, quite filling , help your self, but generally poorly presented and kept hot under lamps which dry the food up .
Generally all round , not a brilliant experience.
Unfortunately the several things highlighted that were not good let the side down , but with a bit more care and interest from the Catering and waiting staff the experience could have been better.
