Room with no windows, room was stuffy no ventilation.

The entrance to the hotel was very grand and beautiful. We were checking out at 5am so we were very happy with how very easy to check out with no hastle. Extra pillows in the wardrobe.

The room was smaller and not as clean as the pictures. The wallpaper was coming away from the walls. There were coffee stains on the wall that could have been easily cleaned.

The architecture was very nice, the bed was very comfortable, it was nice they provided free tea and coffee in the room and toiletries (shampoo, body lotion, soap).

Even on the 5th floor we were staying was a non-smoking floor, the smell and smoke from other floors were a put off, it also made the hotel smell bad. This is also very bad for asthma sufferers as my wife is one of them. Also, it was very noticeable that many of the hotel staffs were smoking right outside the door, in-fact on the stairs outside to the main entrance, which I believe is against the law. Moreover, although it is supposed to be Spring, the night we stayed was cold and the heating wasn't on, we had to call reception to get a portable heater in our room since the temperature was 8C.

Excellent location, very good quality hotel at good rates.

Brilliant location in the city centre, an good value.

The window in my room wouldn't close tight and there was a continuous draft coming in which made the room very cold. And the radiator wasn't working.

having to listen to music blasting out from the bar next door (which we wasn't warned about) until 3:30 am

The reception and hall ways were fantastic , but the quality of the room was very poor , flaking paint , ripped wall paper , dirty bathroom , useless TV , very uncomfortable bed with cheap nets around the bed All in all it was tired and in need of a refurb

The building used to be a textile warehouse owned by a famous merchant thus it has quite extraordinary outlook. The interior design is very beautiful especially the carved stairs. This hotel is the most significant landmark on Portland street. Location if great of course, close to either China town or Piccadilly Garden, high street or train station. It is a must go choice that i recommend to everyone who wants to spend a short time in Manchester city center.

As i booked the economy room without window, when i was checking in the staff asked me to add 10 pounds to upgrade to a window room but it was not mandatory. So i stayed in the economic room but actually there is a small roof window that can be opened to get some fresh air. The cleanness of the bed was not satisfactory, plus the mattress was really bad quality that it hurt my back in the night. The toilet was very difficult to flush. Most importantly, the sound proof was really awful that i could hear my neighbors playing music and talking. I could clearly hear more than four ppl living next door, really don't know how could they get in the double room.

Rooms, dirty, smell of cigarette smoke, stains on walls and carpets, wardrobe doors not closing, chips on bath, dirty tiles in bathroom, double room only two pillows on bed, no back on tv remote control, so called excecutive double, size of a cupboard, only two sachets of coffee, tea etc, room service brought wrong wine from what was ordered also had to wait nearly one hour for room service order.

old furnishings, poor maintained, heater wasn't working. no hot water for more than 10 hours. couldn't take a shower. carpets are old and moldy.

Location and price was excellent.

Only the lights in the Toilet worked...and the TV reception was dreadful. Lack of window didn't help either.

We have stayed at four of your hotels and i love the styke of the hotels and this one was beautiful loved the gorgeous staircase and chandilliers and we had the suite room with an awesome 4 poster and spa bath.

Needs new carpets as its very warn and decorating needa updating but i think the hotel was wonderful. Could do with more than tea/coffee/milk
