Britannia Hotel  

The closeness of the hotel to city centre. I basically wanted to do some shopping around city centre which necessitated my choice of Britannia Hotel.

Staff unresponsiveness to several telephone calls from my room to the switchboard line and the sales desk line. I had to come down 3 times from my room to the receptionist desk to demand for heater for my room.

close to bus station /shops / sight seeing all the staff were extreemly friendly and would recomend it to my friends definately

the beds creaked and kept us awake need a cooling fan as it was hot in no 548 bedroom

It was old style elegant and I very much appreciated the classical music playing in the reception and the restaurant as background music. There is just too much pop music tat thrust at us at every location these days and I would never listen to it of my own choice so this was a definite plus point.

When we arrived part of the reception was roped off; this stayed the same for our one night trip - no idea why - it was just irritating to have to walk round the giant stair-case to book in for what appeared to be no good reason. One of the lifts was out action and remained so for the night and morning of our stay – there are two lifts to the six or seven floors so this made waiting for a lift a long job. When I booked I couldn’t see how to book breakfast and no offer of breakfast was made when we checked in. We went down to the restaurant for breakfast where we were informed that had we requested this when we booked in it would have been available for £7 instead of the £10.95 we had to pay at the restaurant. We booked "executive" rooms; may be Manchester's idea of “executive” is different from ours, but the room was small, there appeared to be no double glazing and therefore noisy for much of the time from dawn until breakfast – so our sleep was interrupted.

was in a nice area in manchester and staff gave some good advice.

room was to far up and i got bad back lol.

It was very quiet with no noices from adjacent rooms or the corridor.

The room was poor maintained with the decoration in need of urgent attention. There was only one pillow in the room which was thinner than a piece of paper and when I tried to order from room service there was no answer on several occassions.

I liked the lovely staircase.

I did not like the fact that there was only 2 lifts and there were out of order

The reception area was nicely refurbished

The room was in bad order. The shower did not work properly as it kept going cold, which meant we could not use it. The wall papaer was coming off the walls and was dirty. there was mould in the bath-tub. My partner rang in advance to ask for a slightly earl;eir check in time as she had was coming from a hospital, they agreed a check in time of 12.30 but when we got there they said they could not let us to the room until 2pm. my partner complained to the management about all this and we were offered a 10% discount on the bill. i thought it was a too little considering all that was wrong. She even showed him photos of the dirt of the walls and thorn wallpaper. i wont stay here again. i travel alot with work and an exceutive suite this was not!!!!

The room had no windows, shower wasn't powerful enough and the breakfast should be avoided

the entrance hall and staircase were worth the visit to see the splendour of the design from an age gone by. the location is great and ideal for shopping.

excellent service value for money, food excellent and fair price, would gladly stay again

amazing stairway . great if your using it just as a place to sleep not if your spending alot of time in the room . nice sized room thou

windows were very unclean hand prints all over them . staff were in no hurry to check us in we were waiting 20 minutes. room was clean enough but extremely run down old fashioned . service was poor . lifts dont work which is only temporary i imagine but there was no warning or apology . tv is very poor fuzzy and sound is poor only a few channels
