How close it was to the Richo arena We did not enjoy our stay the rooms where not very clean the room service had to be refunded because there was so much mustard on the ham and mustard sandwich we couldn't eat them. We did not have breakfast because after queuing for 15 minutes in the corridor we was told by other guests that there wasn't enough tables or any food left so we had to go elsewhere and pay for breakfast which we had already paid for. I did mention this to the reception staff but they didn't seem interested.Regards Mrs Tina Liggins

Not a lot, only booked this because it was in Coventry It was like fawlty towers, you even had to pay to go into the swimming, and could be stood at the bar for 15mins, before you got served, the hotel needs a complete face lift, very dated.

Good sized room,I apprecaited the bathroom night light, the soft lighting, the quiet room, 2 comfortable chairs, the nice quality toiletries ( which were beautifully arranged by the maid). Coffee mugs better than cups so we appreciated that and the good supply of milk, which again was nicely presented by the maid. Table lamps were good quality and design, the wall colour was soft and pleasant. The car park was well lit, the garden area was lovely and the location was good. As we try to be environmentally friendly, we liked the way the hallway lights dimmed when no one was there and got brighter as you approached them. The staff were friendly and helpful and we felt we had excellent value for money. No chair at desk area -so I had to stand to dry my hair. The Interior of the lift could do with refurbishment. There were no feedback forms in room other than for maintenance issues. The net curtain was a very old fashioned style and made the room dark. The mattress was visible. It would have been nice to have a clock and a larger glass would be nice for overnight drink of water. The unit under the mirror needs rubbing down and revarnishing. We would have liked free internet access in bedrooms .

It was cheap. Would be a great hotel if the rooms and bathrooms were modernised.. On our return after a night out I was given the wrong room key and then given the right key which still wouldn't unlock the door, the night porter had to come and let us in. The 1970's chocolate brown bathroom suit with pine toilet seat and a very cheap shower curtain left a lot to be desired.... I have put that I wouldn't recommend it however if you just want somewhere for one night as we did its was sufficient.

Location is good. Grounds and surrounds give the impression that you are well out into the country and not close to Coventry City Centre. The way that my fiancee and I were herded into the restaurant which was packed with coach holidaymakers having to survive a "school meals" experience for dinner. We wished to have a leisurely meal and have some time for a chat over a bottle of wine etc, but were pressured by a stressed staff into going along with the flow with a below standard carvery. The hotel has vast unused areas where non-coach party diners could have been accomodated in quieter surroundings but instead we were packed in with the volume diners having to join the conga to get our meals. A most unsatisfactory experience that I would certainly not want to repeat.

Hotel in nice grounds after that not much going for it. Old hotel with a supposed modern extension. Used it as premier inn is getting pricey and this came up at a reasonable cost. You get what you pay for so buyer beware-or lower your expectations.Rooms appear dusty and un-vacummed -bed uncomfortable-kept rolling to one side. Restaurant and meals were a complete joke-on both night was told to wait 1/2 hour for table as they were busy, yet only handful of people eating- food was lousy but cheap so no point complaining to them about it. Not that it would have made any difference as customer service skills were non existent- it actually became amusing watching other peoples disbelief at they way they were being treated.

Very well appointed room. Avoid restaurant and bar unless you like bingo with drunks and school dinners. Unwelcoming receptionist. Grim view from room. Despite this good overnight stay for business.

The carvery evening meal was excellent both in quality and quantity. The hotel was rural yet near to our cousin whom we were visiting. In fact it was just what and where we needed, and the fact that the rates were greatly reduced during the period of our stay was a bonus. Would probably have looked elsewhere had the original rates applied. The wallpaper was cracked and peeling behind and just above the radiator - but that is normal after a time and the room in general was clean enough.

Checking out On arrival I was kept waiting for over 15 minutes to check, constantly over looked whilst the duty manager continued answering the phone, thus passing keys out. When eventually he took my details he wanted to put me at the other side of the Hotel on a higher Floor,I requested a lower floor. He gave me a room with no shower but a bath? The TV in the room and I cant remember a TV like it you had to turnover by pushing the buttons the TV must of been as hold as the bathroom ,which was in need of a complete make over?I had paid for 2 nights and breakfast there was no talk of the breakfast in the check in saga? so did not know where to go. Looking at the pictures on the Web site I thought I was going somewhere nice, upmarket

Quiet with nice gardens. There was a hairpin left on the floor from the previous guests, so the room felt dirty and cheap. Of the three lamps in the room, only one had a lightbulb. The bathtub leaked all over the bathroom floor (from the bottom, not overflowing from the top!). The headboard of the bed was missing a big piece out of it, which really gave the place the feel of a flophouse. The smoke alarm blinked red, suggesting the batteries were dead and it wasn't even working. There was supposed to be wireless internet available in the lobby, but it was not working that day (or any other day for all we know). The place was recommended to us by young friends in Coventry who didn't know any better. We would never stay in such a place again.

The carvery was good. Most things were good but the sauna/steam room, which we had been looking forward to, was out of action and the swimming pool was not very warm. The duvets on the twin beds were quite narrow and it was hard to keep warm.

The leisure facilities were great, and what drew us the the hotel but the grounds were also beautiful. The rooms were very dated but very homely. The room had mould on the the wall above the wardrobe and cobwebs so cleaning wasn't great. And the general appearance and upkeep of the newer extension builds was poor. Also the food served at the bar was not great.

Price was fair, however there were a few issues, including uncomfortable beds, issues with the kettle and tv not working, and very thin walls so one could hear the next room quite clearly. Saying that, I thought the price per night was pretty good so overall would probably recommend if someone wants a place to rest their head for one night only. “Very pleasant staff, good value for money. A lot of parking space, we arrived late after a conerence ( after ten) and the hotel must have been full because about forty cars were parked up but we managed to squeeze in. Room very clean and comfortable. No problem booking in or out, staff helpful and pleasant.” Garry, Ushaw Moor |
