The Royal Court in now clearly a case for The Hotel Inspector. Whatever is going on, it seems a once-great hotel is now in permanent decline based on what my wife and I experienced during our second stay in five weeks. 1 - Net curtains in bedroom were absolutely filthy. 2 - The bed in my brother-in-law's room, No 258, was wholly worn out and you can feel every spring. The mattress must be years old and his wife reckoned it was the most uncomfortable bed she had ever slept (or tried to sleep) on. 3. There was an overwhelmingly nauseating smell of damp outside the bar area and water continually dripping into buckets from the ceiling. When we questioned staff in the dining room they treated the whole situation with acceptance and said it often happened! 4. Many of the chairs in the bar were stained and we noticed that when staff were cleaning the tables they only wiped the top and not around the rim, so it was inevitable the sides would remain sticky and thick with dust. Is there no training in this respect? 5. The lobby area floor from reception to bar was still stained from 24 hours earlier and no cleaning had taken place before guests came downn to breakfast. 6. There was no one to oversee seating at breakfast and we waited 15 minutes for our morning cuppas, which were served from a filthy, stained plastic jug rather than a quality china teapot. As for the breakfast itself, it was OK but the fried eggs were hard and, once again, the toast was only done on one side. The hotel management seem more concerned with laying on large functions at the expense of day to day guests and, in addition, seem more concerned with the gardens than with the interior.I would say the whole place needs a thorough, hygenic clean and a huge investment to bring it back to its one-time elegance. I will not now be recommending the Royal Court to friends as I once would have done. We left feeling badly let down and that our money had not been wisely spent. For two pins I'd ask for a refund! |

Easy parking, good size room, good bathroom facilities, well equiped gym plus large grounds for walks if required. This is an older style hotel, some parts could be brightened up without losing the character of the hote.l |

Practically nothing to like about this hotel. Maybe if I was pushed I would say the grounds are quite nice and the food average. Many things about this hotel were poor....The hotel is shabby and in need of refurbishment. My bedroom was decorated in early 1990's pinks and blues with very old carpet and a dusky pink bathroom suite! The hotel has no casback facilities and no cash machine. To use your debit card in the bar you need to get it swiped each time in reception- just ridiculous. |

The reception staff were very friendly and gave us information regarding the area and taxi's etc. The room was a budget room and was not as clean as I would have expected. The breakfast was fair, however the staff were more concerned about getting their own breakfasts than providing tea/coffee etc and replenishing food that had ran out |

Good size bedroom Noisey plumbing, extra payment required for pool use. What really upset me was the cleaners entering room without knocking, there were no "Do not disturb" notices to put outside or internal locks on my room and on the day I was leaving the cleaner barged in at 9 o'clock before I had even been to breakfast. |

Location to the take that concert On arrival, there were no towels and linen. We had to put on the pillow covers ourselves. Phoned reception, but to no avail. My wife had to hunt for towels. The bed was very uncomfortable with myself and my wife experiencing bad backs after our night. I have contacted the manager with a complaint this is being looked into. |

The location handy for RICOH arena via taxi this was without doubt the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed at - the first rooms we were offered were absolutely uninhabitable - even for the price! The second ones were better but I am afraid the whole place is filthy and run down - overcharged for breakfast ( we didnt have one! - they took this off at reception ) good job we checked, but really it is in a poor state. |

The closeness to The Ricoh Staduium. Rooms old fashioned. Staff ignorant and miserable. rooms of a old fashioned manor, which would be ok if not ripped carpets etc, needs a refurb. |
