Size and cleanliness of the room was very good.
Food was not extensive in choice and was not well cooked when it came, signage in the hotel was not clear, thin bedroom walls so poor nights sleep
The price and the receptionist
The bar staff were too busy on their phones to clear tables and when they weren't were very slow at serving. The hotel is starting to show signs of wear in a number of places. Cleaning is poor. Toilet was filthy and beds uncomfortable.
Location was not too bad Breakfast waitress was lovely
Rust in the kettle Mould on the window Stains on the sheets Tv slightly raised of floor so difficult to watch and uncomfortable Reception girl was rude. rather catch up on the weekends gossip then help me check out Breakfast must have been sat there for ages (I ate at 8) not much selection
Leaving the following day.
Disgusting smelly rooms. When checking in i witnessed a member of the cleaning team spitting on a table in the reception area, then wiping it with a cloth. I can only guess this was an attempt to make it shine. Disgusting! Lifts don't work. Vending machines don't work. Table top light in the bed room broken and dangerous.
Hotel very very tired Breakfast Poor
- Very comfortable room; double bed and huge bath - Great TV - Nice and cosy - Very cheap - Only £300 for 10 days - Swimming pool and gym available for only £4 a day or £10 for the week - Very quiet - I brought ear plugs and never needed them - Great parking - Restaurant and cafe available
- Hard to find location - Bit run down and outdated in places (Edge of bath a bit mouldy, fan in bathroom sounded like a dying rodent) - No wifi in bedrooms
Large room, close to City centre
very dated, needs a full re-furbishment. Suited to the "elderly" as is evidenced by the numerous coach parties
the setting was nice and quiet and convenient enough for what we wished to do
the food was below par for a hotel charging the amount per night that was charged here. This was one of three hotels we stayed in and, despite being over twice the price of the others put together it was the most disappointing.
A lovely hotel.
Upon arrival at supposedly the hotel i had booked for a 2 night business stay, I was informed by a member of staff who couldn't really care less that they had booked me into a hotel around the corner "Beechwood". This so called hotel was in fact a building site but the staff were a lot more pleasant.
size of rooms hotel surrounding large open reception
could do with modernising-room was lovely but then bathroom really outdated, a plain white bathroom with stainless would be better. looking a round the whole hotel just needs alot of tlc all doors look as though theyve been bashed and tired and odd jobs havent been finished off in a good standard. now stayed twice and it just seems that you really cater for coach loads of oaps which is good for income but this lovely building could do so much better
The room was clean. Most of the staff are ok.
Monday night they had a Gypsy Wedding which ended in a fight, police coming to the hotel at 3 in the morning, the place trashed and all the other guests complaining that they didn't sleep. Hotel should have put non wedding guests on a different floor to avoid these problems. Hotel have a dinner and wine voucher for whoever complained. Food is very poor quality over all and the bar man wanted to give me an opened wine bottle and got a bit shirty when I refused it.
On arrival, receptionist very helpful and friendly. Whilst there were only two of us we were given a lovely large room which had everything we needed to make our stay most comfortable. On leaving in the morning new reception staff as helpful as previous evening. Can't really comment on facilities as we arrived late and departed fairly early, but what we could/did see was very nice. I would recommend it as a value for money hotel.
The bathroom in the room we used was very clean, very modern and boasted one of the best showers i have ever used. Whilst the beds were very comfortable they did look tired and dated and the actual room (not the bathroom) could do with a refurbishment. Would I stay again. Most definately.
The place is an old but vintage place. Due to this it looks a bit tired however still clean. I stay in some nice hotels with my job but the bed was very good, resulting in the best hotel night sleep I've had in a long while.
Travellers wedding. Location of rooms above kitchen. Poor standard of cleanliness. Old and run down rooms. Cramped breakfast room.
There was a function on in the hotel on a Monday nigh twith over 300+ guest, loud music till very late, car wizzing around carpark, police called, broken windows, sick, bottles littered the floor, guest asleep on the sofas in reception in the morning - would be nice to have been told about it before I arrived
Location - but need a new sign that says Britannia on it!
Facilities were tired. Breakfast was OK but nothing sparkling.
location in relation to conference centre
hotel hosting traveler wedding at the time of my visit police called to restore order I did not feel able to use the facilities as a single guest I felt intimidated and uncomfortable stayed in my room to keep out of the way
I found the hotel on line and booked because the price was very reasonable. I didn't have very high expectations but was very agreeably surprised by the standard of the accommodation and facilities. I dined in the restaurant on the Saturday evening and had the car very meal. My only criticism is that some of the vegetables were rather dry, having been under the servers lights for some time.
cob webs in the bedroom furniture dated
Bed was reasonable however not much choice with the pillows,
Food was poor , staff didn't seem to care , room service was awful , TV needs updating , decore of the room is horrible needs updating as mould everywhere
The hotel is very dog friendly, the staff made us very welcome, the hotel has excellent facilities and is extremely good value for money. The standard double room we booked was very spacious and comfortable. We will definitely be staying again in the future.
There wasn't anything that we disliked.
Breakfast and evening buffet meal Comfort of room Access and parking
Poor wifi connection Crowded with coach parties which overloaded catering facilities Some noisy guests Shortage of staff at key times Chaotic check in desk
Staff where polite and helpful. The grounds of the hotel where nice.
The breakfast was not great they could improve the food.
