Easy to find, close to m6, close to where I was going. Room simple but spacious and clean and perfectly adequate. Free parking. Breakfast ok and plentiful. Very reasonable for price. Staff fine. Not posh or luxury and not much character but didn't expect that for 40 quid incl breaky !

The location was key to my trip and it was situated on near the m40 so accessibility was good. My double room rate of £51 was keenly priced. The hotel is in real need of modernisation-the wallpaper was loose-the decor is tired and drab my room window was so dirty it was hard to see through the furniture old, no satellite TV-no wi-fi in the rooms-the controller was broken and taped back together with gaffer tape!-it had te hallmarks of an old council bedsit-cigarette butts outside the main doors-paint peeling off the entrance ceilings the outside of the building needs cleaning-it is a real pity as it could be a real focal point given it's location an the size of the building-sadly it looks a dirty grey eyesore.

reception staff were friendly and helpful poor staff some of which did not have a clue to the meaning of customer care within the hotel/leisure industry.Hotel looked very rundown and badly in need of upgrading.Food was not good and choice in both breakfast and carvery was poor. Please note i respond to this review as a professional working within the leisure/travel industry, where customer care is of primary importance for continued repeat bookings and word of mouth appraisals. This review is by no means a letter of complaint, but simpy some feedback which could be useful in assessing the hotels performance.

Perfectly serviceable hotel.....comfortable room..... Good sized bed. Very helpful staff....very local crowd in bar and restaurant. Extremely economical hotel during the winter period. Looking its age and the lifts are a wee unreliable.

The number 2 lift failed leaving me trapped for 4mins, not long but, worrying. When reported the staff said they were aware. No notice was there to prevent me sharing the concern.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were reasonably clean and there were complimentary tea and toilet items. The hotel is very much "faded splendour". I chose the hotel because I was born in Coventry and lived there during my childhood. The hotel was built after I moved but we often used to see it as we travelled back to see family over the years. I was disappointed with the rooms, which were tired and needed some tlc. For instance, the wallpaper was peeling, the seals around the bath were coming away and were dirty. It all seemed very basic, not at all what I expected. The hotel had a large party of travellers, so staff made an assumption we were part of the group. Not so - and it was disappointing to be unable to book an evening meal when we wanted it. The bar meal we had was ok, but eating off your lap or a very low table not recommended for the digestion. Finally, breakfast was very basic, there was no bacon or fried eggs when we arrived at around 0830 And getting tea from a machine (into a very small cup) was mean - surely staff could provide a fresh pot for each table on request?

Not a lot. The 1st receptionist was pleasant and tried to solve the problem of a very poor room - every strip of wall paper was peeling off the walls. She provided keys for 6 other rooms. Only one didn't have wallpaper peeling from the walls. Didn't like the extra charge for Credit Card - after booking on line wiht you. Didn't like the wallpaper peeling off the wall inthe bedroom. Didn't like the mould on the widow frame and dirty windows - you couldn't see out of. Curtains old and creased. The smell of Dampness in the room.

It is very competively priced but the general conditionn ow of the Hotel is beginnning to look tired and needs a major facelift - but this reflects in the price - you pay for what you get in simple terms ! Location is good for all areas of interest

For the sheer value for money I will be staying at The Coventry Hill Hotel in preference to he cheap alternatives out there. The staff are very attentive and helpful and the service is excellent. Wi-Fi in the lounge worked flawlessly too.

Having left a valuable item in one of our rooms and telephoned to advise reception, we returned later to find the item safely held for our collection. Full marks for the honesty and effiency of your staff over this matter. Thank you. The food which we ate in the bar. It was the worst meal and poorest quality I can remember. Almost inedible and not cheap. I had to phone because our breakfast order was late. Timing was crucial as we had a deadline. When it arrived it was without preserves. It was a good breakfast but we were unable to eat it as it was so late. Very unsatisfactory.

How cheap it was. The bed sheets could do with a wash, the lock on my bathroom door was put on backwards so it would never lock. There was stains on my bathroom roof. Some wallpaper was peeling. for 20.00 a night you cant complain. still it would be nice to give the rooms a little maintance.

“Very pleasant staff, good value for money. A lot of parking space, we arrived late after a conerence ( after ten) and the hotel must have been full because about forty cars were parked up but we managed to squeeze in. Room very clean and comfortable. No problem booking in or out, staff helpful and pleasant.” Garry, Ushaw Moor |
