booked this hotel for one night as was traveling up m6 to Scotland and wanted to break the journey up. booked room on booking.com and reserved at £19.99 for the night. got to hotel and was only charged £19. be aware if you pay on card they charge you \£2. so your best paying in cash. don't know what all the bad reviews are on about, this hotel was well worth the £19 i paid. its not 5* but the rooms are ok with everything you need and its clean. shower was a bit small for me as im tall, but for less than £20 i was very happy with the quality. similar to a £40 travelodge. would definetly use again and recommend. breakfast £10

very cheap , nice basic food good prices for bar meals we arrived at 15:00. our bedroom wasnt ready, lift was broken so we had to used stairs and nobody from staff didnt offer any help with carrying our lougade. Internet was not working and staff didnt know where to go instead. Generally reception staff was not friendly at all. We decided to leave the hotel a night earlier then we previously planned.

NOTHING!Was worse place I have stayed.Rooms arent cleaned properly. The Manager is rude. The cleaners were chatting on mobiles.Spa area is filthy and needs pool cleaning.Never any staff about to help.States food available 24 hours and it isnt even at 6pm. Had cobwebs on curtains over beds and thick dust on skirtings/mirrors/pictures/lamps and even shelves in wardrobe etc. Each morning coffee/juice/glasses ran out at breakfast.Serving spoons burn hands. Some of food not hot.Smells of smoke in corridors yet meant to be no smoking. False accusations made to us re smoking and we are ALL NON smokers.Had paid for champagne yet was sparkling wine on arrival. Needs damn good staff talking to and clean up! SEE ABOVE-So many things wrong with the place and as soon as mentioned to people where we were staying eyebrows were raised and comments like its a dump etc

Creaky floors, woken every morning just after 6am, from noises. Sounded like someone going up and down the fire exit stairs. Fire alarm went off @ 6.15am due to someone smoking in their room and went on for over 3 hrs, no one came to say sorry. Before we left, we checked to make sure the door would be open for us to leave, was told it would be, but when we left @ 4.15am the door was locked with the latch, it was made worse that there was 3 residents locked out!!!! And they had been ringing the bell for a very long time. We only stayed 4 nights, but that was more than enough....

The location was perfect for us. I thought the hotel was lacking cleanliness (ie rooms were thick with dust, carpet badly stained & even coffee & milk stains on wardrobe door). More staff was needed on reception I had to queue every time I went.

Rooms were dirty, wndows covered in dust and dead insects. In one of the rooms the shower curtain was orange with old soap, both rooms very uncomfortable beds, the lift was out of the ark and quite scary, one room had faeces on the loo roll and urine around the toilet. There were marks on the walls and carpet in one room.

Location, Price, 1. Bedroom window only opened a little amount, apparently for security purposes, mad eht room very stuffy 2. My room door did not lock fromo either inside or outside, this could not be fixed and they dould not give me another room! 3. When you payyour bill at the hotel reception they charge a £2 fee for paying with either a credit card or a debit card, this is the first time I have come across this for credit and debit cards. I will not stay there again

price - cheap but not cheerful first room - toilet didn't flush so we were moved. Bar didn't open until 5.30 and then it was 10 mins late and was closed by the time we returned at 11.30! I have never come across this in a hotel anywhere in the world! Bath plug was rusty. There were no hand towels. The staff had all been to 'misery school', not a pleasant one amongst them. Considered breakfast but it was dried up and unappealing so declined.

Fresh linen every day, spa facilities good Dirty, noisy, in poor state of repair, wallpaper falling off walls, plaster falling onto floor, room smelled dirty and stale. Breakfast very poor selection for price of continental food, staff never answered reception phone. Waited 2 daysfor an iron and when got it, it was broken. Staff disinterested.

The breakfasts were very good. Lack of light bulbs and bath plug. Smell of cigarette smoke with a sock left covering the smoke detector. Emergency doors were left open on both floors, rooms were left open and unattended when cleaning was in progress. Wallpaper was hanging off wall in places, slats were missing from single bed and found underneath. No mattress protector, sheet placed directly on to mattress and mattress was so tired that the springs actually became painful to lay on. Carpet in bedroom was ill fitting and had not been vacuumed probably for weeks.

I liked the dimensions of the room and the period features. The bathroom was clean and tidy with lots of towels and toiletries. The carpet in the room was old and tatty and not very clean. Furniture was dusty and I was disappointed that wifi was not available in my room.

The room temperature was sauna-like with a radiator that they couldn't/wouldn't reduce. It was hideous and discomforting, especially as it was a June evening. The shower only provided water that was boiling or freezing cold and the hotel maid walked into the room when I was still in bed at 8.30am on a Sunday.

There unfortunately was not too much to like about this hotel. The only saving grace was that the bar manager was friendly and efficient and went out of his way to help various customers. The room (as the rest of the hotel) needed updating it was looking very tired. The rooms were only surface clean and they could do with a good deep clean. The staff lacked enthusiasm and nearly all of them could do with a course in customer engagement. The breakfast was overpriced and not well cooked and could benefit from not being cooked on mass and left under hot lights cooking to order would be better.

“I can never fail the friendliness and warmth of the staff at this hotel, which is as much as you can hope for when looking for somewhere to stay while not having a large budget. The least I expect in these circumstances is for the hotel to be welcoming, the room to be warm, the bed to be comfortable and the shower to work properly. All of these were the case. I'm also pleased to see that they have updated their televisions to a digital service, as opposed to the arcane analogue TVs of before, complete with a remote control that had a chain attached to it.” Matthew, Hull |
