I arrived at 7.45pm from a long train journey and on arrival was sold a dinner package by the receptionist with no briefing that dinner finished at 8.30pm. I arrived for dinner (last Tuesday night 7/2) and it was 8.40 so was closed, The senior waitress was embarrased and worked to sort me out and said she could - she di and provided a meal but I wish I had ate elsewhere. It was two different potato types, some turkey, poor gravy and some old carrots and I did wish I had ate else. I do not stay for breakfast and will not use this hotel again.

Having stayed last year at the Hotel I complained bitterly in writing about the room (No232) that I had . The bed was poor and needed replacing as well as other items in the room . This time I had Room 262 and this was a vast improvement on the other one so all being well I will stay again (But not in room 232) I don't like the idea that one is charged for water to be consumed during dinner. I understand that it would encourage to buy a bottle of wine or beer but in my case I am unable to to take eny liquour due the fact that I have to take various tablets so I do find that this is not acceptable to be charged for tap water.

The young lady on reception was extremely helpful we stayed may 8th 9th and 1st 2nd of may. I was leisure my husband was buisness and in both instances the kettles in the rooms were really unclean and there was a pizza box left from the last occupant. Bathrooms showed little signs of cleaning.

The impression you get when you walk past is that it is very posh. The lobby was very posh...... ....when I got to my room things were different. It was clean but the room was very tired. The wallpaper was scruffy with several marks on it and the damp patch was making the wallpaper peel. The bathroom badly needed re tiling. The reception on the t.v was shocking and there was only 12 inches between the bottom of the bed and the wall so hardly spacious. At first I thought it's close proximity to the bus station was ideal. However, once I realised that the buses left from under my window and started at 5.30a.m and ran through to the last bus that came in at 1a.m the following morning, I changed my mind. The noise is hardly the fault of the hotel but they should think about investing in double glazing.

Great location, although this was a plus and a minus on my trip. Found it very noisy late at night. So I would advise picking a room at the back of the hotel if you are a light sleeper. My friend however slept right through.Good value for what you are getting

The location is close to the city centre This hotel is very poor. The wallpaper is hanging off the walls, the rooms are very small. I would not stay here again.

The location was perfect as we were at the theatre that night. The hotel to be fair is a little tired, but for the money and location it's fine.

The receptionist was fantastic, very helpfull, very friendly and a credit to the hotel. The room was clean but does need redecorating. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was good. The coffee in the sachet was not the best, but I would stay again but my wife hoped for better decor.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful from start to finish, rooom was great value for money & the parking good. Great location for the theatre which was the purpose of our stay! Breakfast was good. The breakfast could be slightly improved as the cereals were not the best.

Very convenient location close to town centre and right next door to the grand theatre which we were visiting. Very comfy bed, had a lovely nights sleep. Hotel staff member that served us was very rude at reception, not even told check out time, we had to ask ourselves. Room was not that clean, dirty sheets and floors.

I chose the Britannia Hotel because we were seeing a play at the Grand Theatre. The Britannia Hotel is right next door so was very convenient. The hotel is very shabby and could do with a complete overhaul. The rooms, although comfortable and functional are very dated and some of the fixtures and fittings are passed their best. The bathroom wasn't very clean, especially the shower. The lifts are very slow and we ended up walking up 2 flights of stairs to our room.
