The Buffet style breakfast and evening meal were really a great plus with the helpful staff making our short four day break a great success. The room we were originally booked for was already full and we were treated to a free upgrade. The one downside was the lack of car park space and this was partially eradicated by the pooling of car park space with two close by hotels. The extreme heat of the week added to the heating system within the hotel was only partially counteracted by the placement of fans within the rooms.

Visiting relatives in Bournemouth. Convenient location, warm welcome, good breakfast, on this occasion did not dine in the restaurant for evening dinner, although the menu looked fine maybe next time. Excellent value for money. Room 125 Hook on bathroom door would have been handy for toilet wash bag etc. My wife did not feel comfortable, lack of privacy, with the window alongside the bath. Light over bed head would have been desirable. I would like to receive these as constructive comments.

Location and views from 4th Floor, only The Reception staff were very abrupt, not a welcome in sight and asked to to sign 3 x damage waiver forms before processing our room stay, what a Nightmare. When we asked about a reduction in the room rate is was ignored almost as thought he did not understand the question. Also to pay to swim at the hotel is an absolute cheek - why have a pool if the paying residents cannot use it ? Would not stay or recommend this one again although I have to say the breakfast staff were very helpful and the chamber maids were too in fairness to the staff behind the scenes.

Nothing. The only good thing was the breakfast. I did not like having pubic hairs in my bathroom, bed and on the towels. The rooms were damp, dirty and the furniture was falling apart. The staff were not experienced enough to be working or managing a hotel. The hotel was very noisy at night.

It was near the shops and beach. We stayed in room 324 on Saturday night. The room was extremely dusty not usually a problem of mine but for £85 per night it becomes a problem. There wasn't much service. No car parking space even though it said there was spaces and we even requested car parking on our booking not even an apology because it was already full. T/hey said we had to be up early to put more money on the road side metre I did this and it only allowed me to put 1 hour on before 9am so had to go back down an hour later. The bathroom was small and pokey you could not move around in it at all I suggest they never allocate that room to an elderly person. The breakfast was freezing cold. In room 324 they need to take the pictures down they have no meaning and are very random. Especially the woman who looks at you every move you make its freaky! All in All we couldn't sleep very well and it certainly not on this earth is not worth £85 a night bank holiday rip off or not.I Would have been happy with this hotel if it was £40 not double that. Its the worst place I have ever stayed. Rip off would visit again. Aiming too high with prices for what they deliver.

The walls are very thin therefore noise from room next door can be disturbing - as we found out. The wi-fi did not reach up to 4th floor so had to sit in reception to use it - not ideal. The tv channel choice was poor.

Very spacious and welcoming. The lifts were exceptionally small. I also personally feel there should be a main light in every room, the room I stayed in didnt have main central light.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Also, nice food and in a central location for both the sea and night life. My only problem was that the lifts only hold 2 people at a time. However, as there are several lifts, this flaw had minimal impact on my stay.

The room was very old fashioned but comfortable and very clean. Beds were comfortable. Room was light and airy, Breakfast was not very appetizing and staff struggled to keep buffet supplied. Staff were not friendly and had problems addressing difficulties with both the phone and wifi. Clearly not up to it digitally. A hotel for older couples - not recommended for those on business trips needing reliable communication systems

Very disappointed in the room as although we booked a double room our double bed was squashed into a corner against a single headboard which clearly meant we had been charged double room rate for a single occupancy room!!!

We had a double room which cost £115.00, this is not good value for money. Very expensive for what is provided. Would never stay again! Old and Dirty!! 1. Very limited parking, if parking is offered you expect to be able to park in or nearby the hotel 2. Photographs DO NOT represent the hotel accurately 3. If you book a smoking room you do not expect that to be a reason to be inferior. 4. When you change rooms because the smoking room is unacceptable you do not expect the room still to be only slightly less unacceptable. 5. The hotel is very tired and the cleanliness of the bathrooms were totally unacceptable and had not been cleaned properly and were mouldy. 6. Breakfast was awful, tables not cleared, guests left standing with nowhere to sit. Food atrocious. 7. Swimming pool is not free, guests are charged £4 for each adult and did not look any cleaner than the hotel. 8. Lift, very small and dodgy. Hotel receptionist tried to help but explained it was only 3 stars. This is not an excuse to be dirty though and I'm suprised it ranks as 3 stars.

“This was our first trip to The Cumberland Hotel. What a delight! The Hotel is decorated In Art Deco style in vibrant Red, Black,Silver and Glass...STUNNING!! They have soft music in the background that relate to the time of day, very nicely slotting in to the mood changes as the day moves to night..Clever - rather than the usual "elevator" style that a lot of Hotel tend to have. Our welcome first kicked in when we checked in at Reception. The Receptionist was lovely, very friendly and helpful. We had only booked for one night but was able to stay on for another night with no problem at all. We were early so she took our bags from us and we were able to explore the Hotel. We had a sandwich and drink by the pool which was brilliant! The pool was inviting and the set up outside with the seating and tables was really nice. Everywhere we walked, the staff looked up and smiled, genuine welcome smiles not the plastic aloof smiles that are in so many Hotels these days! We ate in the Hotel on both our evenings. The Brasserie Grill one night and the Mirabelle Restaurant the other. The meals that the Chef cooked were delicious. Presentation and taste sublime! Service was superb in both places. Our room was spotless and very comfortable with the only downside being that we are used to a King size bed so the Double for us was small! Next time we are going for the Sea View with Balcony with the Kingsize bed! Breakfast was delicious with the usual Buffet Style on offer. If you wanted Kippers or something that was not the usual Full English, you only had to ask! I was a bit disappointed in the selection of fruit on offer. The choice of Prunes, Grapefruit and Melon is a tad outdated. Lots of places that we have stayed have a larger variety on offer ie: Kiwi Fruit/ Melon Selection/ Bananas/ Grapes etc with more of a choice in Yoghurts too. There was bowl of fruit available. We are definitely going back to this Hotel, we cannot praise it enough!!” Gerald, Yateley |
