The hotel was very pleasant, food excellent but the one drawback was the location it was slightly isolated and a car was needed all the time. |

I liked the fact that the hotel was old and had history attached to it. It was also in a lovely setting. The evening meal was poor quality and quantity and left us feeling hungry. Service was poor as we waited a long time. The spa bath did not work in our room, and the digital television channels didnt either. The bathroom window in the Sycamore suite was blowing a huge draught |

staff were very friendly and attentive. Lovely location and good food When we first arrived at hotel the heating was not working, i would have expected this to be cheked beforehand, especially as it was a cold night. This was dealt with very quickly, luckily the room next door had been cancelled. My wife wanted to take a bath before dinner unfortunately we had to wait 30 mins for the water to heat up. |

The general ambience of a traditional lakeland large house, allied to exellent food, and service that was efficient but at the same time unobtrusive. All the staff were pleasant and engageing, We will certainly return again. The room we had was Spruce, which we enjoyed, the only slight niggle was that there was only one sitting chair in the room. |

The food was off a high standard, well cooked and presented, and without too long a wait. The bedroom we occupied was too small for two people. There were no chairs, only a short bench under the window. The bathroom was cramped for space too. Admittedly, we had chosen one of the less expensive rooms, but we did not foresee the cramped situation and overall the room was a disappointment especially over a three night stay. We had been promised in writing an upgrade to a larger room but in the event this was not made available to us. |

Beautiful location, gardens beautifully kept. Hotel had a lovely "country house" feel to it and staff were very friendly. We felt that the cost of dinner was rather expensive considering what we actually recieved (no after dinner tea/coffee and no accompanying sides to main meal, I would have expected some form of standard potato dish) although the actual food was very nice! |

location and grounds were good. Food fairly good. Staff tried hard to please and were very friendly themselves. Room nice but no where near 4 star standard. The dinner experience was very stilted and as an older couple felt some what uncomfortable |

We were made to feel totally relaxed, and staff were all happy to make sure our stay was as comfortable as possible. Our choice of food was excellent both in quality and quantity, and our room was extremely comfortable and its decor was just what I would wish for. I felt that the contrast of beautiful china was marred by the use of thick white plates, although I do understandthat the presentation of food needs to be taken into consideration I felt that a more delicate white china would have been more presentable. |

The staff were very friendly , welcoming and always ready to help. The location , set in woods and hills above Lake Windermere , is fantastic. As for the hotel , it had character and charm , with some very appealing features. The food was excellent. |
