This small family-owned and run country hotel in North Suffolk was once a rural public house; today, it has been sympathetically renovated and still retains its historic charm and character.

comfortable bed, room & bathroom clean, nice staff.Looked good at night with the front lights on.
outside could do with some T L C, but realise building work still in progress, hope when this is finished, the cream colour walls will be freshened up & cobwebs will have dissapeared.
The room was a good size and the bed was extremely comfortable.
The en-suite would have been better with a modern shower cubicle rather than the bath with shower over (rather worn!). The shower was difficult to get into and out of!
They need to sort out their telephone system. We specifically declined an early morning call but were still woken (on a Sunday) before 7.30am.
The position of the hotel is good if you are visiting inland South norfolk/north suffolk. The Brome suite with double jacuzzi and separate shower room is very nice, other rooms that we saw were in need on the refurbishment that is in progress.
Most of the staff were very helpful but did have a bit of a problem with one who blamed us for a mix up in an order!
Julie Campbell and Naomi in fact all the staff were brilliant
Good staff and helpful
Location , room required heater right away
size of the rooms clean crisp bedding pleasant staff
Nothing really that I'm going to say I'm going to like it staff is awfull food we found longhair in my desert there's a paper service such really embarrassing
Just my room is not bad but I ddint sleep whole night cause there's a laking water that doesn't want to stop
No hot water on the night of arrival
Lots of flies, the place looked and felt very shabby
The staff are helpful and genuinely friendly. It's always a pleasure to stay there.
Great staff and good food
Had the Grange Suite on the front of the hotel, on the main road. Lovely room, secondary glazing in place but the road noise cannot be overlooked. Ear plugs necessary.
Nice size rooms. Very comfy bed. Tea/coffee, & all essentials in rooms. Good location. Very friendly staff.
Due to rooms being in the courtyard, away from main building not so nice having to get cold or wet just to go to the bar/restaurant. Didnt like sitting at a table set up for one person with even the 2nd chair taken away. Yes I may be travelling alone but it doesn't need to be advertised. Please leeve table set for 2 including the chair! Room was abit cold.
Friendly staff dealt with requests quickly. Had changed us to a better room to avoid noise during hotel renovation. Shown to room by staff and not just given the key. English cooked breakfast hot and brought to you rather than left on visible hot plates to select.
Bathroom light difficult to turn on and off. Towels only provided for one visitor and not the two of us. Request dealt with quickly.
Th Food was good
Workers working on Friday Party on until midnight on Saturday tremendous noise until then. Waited over 30 mins for Breakfast on both days. Dismal rooms needed light on all the time to see properly.
Jaded decor. Old and stained carpet. Old and stained furniture.
Taps would not turn off, damp room, untidy and dirty throughout, - half empty glass of beer by the front door during stay says it all!
It was a positive experience. The hotel in in the midst of a new building programme, but that did not interfere with our stay. I made a small request which was dealt with immeduately, and the staff, from first to last, were professional, helpful and committed.
friendly staff, good location for us, visiting friends.
room not ready until 5, but staff apologetic....... not that clean and needs updating.
Not much but it was available at very short notice
It was like a USA motel. Dingy dark rooms and bathrooms. Service at the mediocre breakfast was patchy. Can't understand why Best Western put their name to it. There was a thunderstorm just before we arrived and the windowsill and carpet were wet. The pool sat on the windowsill until day 3.
Not a lot staff polite
Old fashioned cold dated decor not good
Many Quiet rooms which lay well back from the main road. Good breakfast cooked to order. Evening meal was of good quality. Large car park off road.
Building works means some temporary (presumably) areas like the reception, and restaurant area are quite small.Due to be finished end August. Restaurant discount for Platinum card holders not given until pointed out it as not applied to bill.
Happy smiling helpful staff Good breakfast Comfortable room Good TV
On site construction work going on, but we accepted it was necessary. Poor sound insulation between rooms, we could hear all that was going on in the next room, we were in room 8 The drains were noisy, water draining slowly from other bathrooms could be heard emanating from the drains in our bathroom.
The room was spacious and fairly modern with nice tv etc and tea coffee facilities were good
there were 3 beetles found crawling over the floor! One in the bedroom and 2 in bathroom and that put me off.
that for the evening meal we wanted something light to eat and my wife had a cheese omelette and l had poached eggs on toast. most hotels would say we can only supply what is on the menu. chef forgot to butter the toast.'
a nice large bathroom but nowhere for ladies to put out their toiletries
